Chapter 649: Chapter 304: Royal Palace Audience
“…Assassin?”
“I secretly startled him a bit, and he overreacted imdiately, attempting to attack Prince Rickdo. He’s quite skilled; if I hadn’t changed my tactic to make him think his arms were severed, Rickdo might already be dead.” Olivia nodded obediently.
On the carriage ride back, Leon listened in astonishnt to Olivia’s account of her unexpected discovery.
The second prince of Orland has an attendant poised to murder his lord at any mont?
He naturally had no doubt about Olivia’s skills. That man’s unusual movent clearly revealed his most genuine reaction.
If that man had made any defensive reaction in surprise, Olivia probably wouldn’t be so certain of her suspicion.
Leon frowned and pondered.
But the problem is, with an assassin lurking around Prince Orland, is it a royal family dispute or a conspiracy within the kingdom’s upper echelons? This issue involves many entanglents; should he involve himself?
Should he send soone to warn Prince Rickdo?
Leon gently shook his head.
He had no interaction with this second prince, reporting the people around him directly, without concrete evidence. Moreover, after Olivia’s probing, the assassin might have already realized he was exposed, and the warning would have already raised his guard.
Then report to Lydwen III?
After so consideration, Leon dismissed this option as well.
Thinking it through, he felt it safest to report this matter to Ines.
The little princess trusts him more, and regarding such matters, it’s best to let the Hecha Royal Family’s internal family mbers handle it instead of being dragged into royal disputes.
“During this ti when we’re out in Oran, you should carry the emblem and the sword,” Leon said, touching Olivia’s empty side waist.
Bringing Olivia to the Capital was not to let her participate in the Knight Tournant; she was rely accompanying him on his travels, perhaps cheering for him from the spectator stands.
This trip was also like a honeymoon for the two, so once they arrived in the city, Olivia changed into clothes more befitting a wife’s image instead of wearing hunting gear with a sword at her waist like in Avalon. But now, it seems the Royal City… isn’t that safe.
“Mm, I’ll be careful. Don’t worry. Besides, in this whole kingdom, besides a powerful knight like the one who saved you, Baron Kellan, few could easily harm .” Olivia replied softly as she leaned back, resting her head on Leon’s thigh.
She’s no longer that unaware village girl; having encountered all sorts of formidable martial artists and battled terrifying Spirit Realm Demons, she now has a clearer understanding of her own power.
“Haha, yes, yes, my little lion is the fiercest.” Leon smiled, indulgently rubbing his young wife’s cheek as she lay on his lap.
…
The next day, Leon had Kovis and Lokhak, along with the Avalon Knights, take the Thorny Flower family’s seal and the emblem permit from the Great Coat of Arms Institute to register at the Great Arena and submit his tournant armor for inspection, while he hurried out of the city to visit Ines’s manor.
However, upon reaching the hillside manor at the outskirts, he learned from the manor’s servant that Ines had already returned to the Oran Palace.
According to the manor butler, the princess had stayed here for several days, specifically to welco his party.
Leon felt ward by Ines’s enthusiasm, but since he hadn’t found her, he could only check on the Death Claw resting contentedly in its pen before heading back to the Royal City.
It seems, he would have to et Lydwen soon and also discuss with Ines about the assassin beside her second brother.
His application to be received by the palace was quickly replied with an invitation.
The following day, as inford by the summoning official, in the early morning, he checked the magical instrunt to be presented to Lydwen III, ensuring it was functioning, and set out with Kovis, along with Filipo and Corinth, who knew court etiquette, forming a team of three attendants.
Before leaving, Leon, worried Olivia might get bored waiting, suggested, “Take so knights as guards and explore the Royal City. I hear there are many high-grade perfus and trinkets in the Oran market that you can’t find in the Grey Robe Valley, so why not bring sothing back for Miss Elena and Little Lina?”
Smiling, the girl nudged her husband’s back, “Alright, alright, I’ll go have so fun shopping myself, now go take care of your affairs~”
Leon nodded, leading the group toward the Upper City to the Royal Palace.
He wasn’t daring enough yet to take Olivia back to her family’s “ancestral mansion”.
In a way, that palace was also the place where her father lost his life due to a usurpation, so perhaps it was better to stay away, even from afar.
Though Olivia currently has no direct conflict with Lydwen, after all, he was the one who killed her blood relatives, and perhaps Olivia would never need to see him in this lifeti.
The group of four rode through Oran’s wide and bustling central avenue, crossed the arched bridge over the moat, and arrived beneath the towering, majestic inner wall of the Palace at the eastern part of the Royal City.
With the seal and emblem permit, Leon’s identity was verified, and he was granted passage by the Royal Palace Guard, escorted by royal attendants into the Northern Kingdom’s center of power.
With a thousand-year history, the Oran Palace, though ravaged by internal war decades ago, had long since been restored and rebuilt, erasing all signs of past blood and fire.
Upon arriving in the palace, Leon wasn’t imdiately taken by the attendants to et Lydwen III.
