Helena jumped off of Roo and glared at him.
She looked around the room and was surprised to find that no one was looking at them.
Everyone else was so focused on their own sparring sessions that they didn’t even notice what was going on between Helena and Roo.
"I need to get so air," Helena told Roo as she turned and considered going for a run.
As she walked through the mats, she saw Rae giving her a concerned look.
"Kade," Helena called out.
Kade paused, and she swore she could her Roo growl from where he stood.
’Jealous possessive alpha,’ she sent through the link with Roo.
She knew he wanted to say sothing back, but she ignored him.
"Yes, Alpha?" Kade asked with a small bow.
"Go spar with your Alpha, I need to speak to Rae." Kade looked at her and then glanced at Roo.
It was clear that he was hesitant to do as she asked.
"I said go to Roo, Kade," Helena said, applying a little of her Alpha aura into her words.
Kade’s eyes went wide when he realized what she was doing. He knew her well enough to know that she wouldn’t do that without good reason.
"Yes, Alpha," Kade said before rushing away to join Roo.
"Need to talk to you," Helena hissed as she tilted her head toward the exit. "Girl stuff."
"Oooooh, girl stuff," Rae said as she jumped up and down before skipping out of the training area.
"So what—" Rae began to say as they passed through the doors of the training center.
"Not here," Helena hissed as she continued to walk further.
"Pack house?" Rae asked.
"Your room like old ti’s sake?" Helena asked with a smile on her lips.
"Oh yes, please!" Rae said excitedly. "You know, Roo wasn’t the only one that missed you."
Helena laughed as she looked at Rae, who was now pouting at her.
"I missed you too, Rae," Helena told her as she bumped her best friend’s shoulder.
"Yeah, but he’s monopolized you since you ca back," Rae complained.
"He likes putting himself where he isn’t wanted," Helena grumbled.
"But you do want him. Don’t lie to ," Rae said pointedly. "I’ve known you all our lives, you can’t like to , I would know."
Helena sighed and shook her head.
"Fine, I like him being around." It was the first ti Helena was admitting it out loud, but she did like having Roo around.
"Finally, so truth out of you," Rae said, laughing as she ran back to the pack house. "Race you!"
"Bitch," Helena shouted back as she chased after Rae.
Eventually, Helena caught up and even beat Rae to the door.
Like Helena, Rae was a really fast runner, and she was an even better tracker.
"You guys are back early," Raul said as his daughter and Helena entered the pack house.
"Girl talk, you’re not invited, see ya later, Dad," Rae giggled as she dragged Helena up to her room.
"Why does it sound like you two are twelve again?" Raul grumbled.
The girls laughed at his comnt as they walked down the hall past Helena and Roo’s rooms.
Rae’s room was two doors down from Helena’s and was roughly the sa in size and layout.
"Okay, now tell what’s going on?" Rae asked as she closed the door and sat on her couch.
Helena took a deep breath and sat next to her best friend.
"So you know how I was studying to be an Alpha, and you guys had all these Luna lessons and other stuff?" Helena asked as she looked down at her hands.
"Yeaaahhhh?" Rae asked in a tentative tone.
"So there were a lot of things that weren’t tackled with because of that," Helena sighed.
"Just ask, Helena. You know I won’t judge," Rae said.
Helena bit her lower lip and took a deep breath.
She didn’t know how to say it. She worried it would be awkward.
"Do we react to our potential mate before the Blood Moon?" Helena asked, blushing.
Rae gasped.
Helena looked up at her friend, who was nodding.
"It’s Ro, isn’t it?" Rea asked.
"It might be," Helena answered with a shrug.
"Look, it’s rare like really rare for mates to manifest before the Blood Moon," Rae explained to Helena.
"I didn’t know that," Helena mumbled.
"I’m not surprised you were hanging out with all those Alphas," Rae chuckled. "It’s usually harder on the she-wolf, but only the most powerful bonds manifest this early."
"No wonder I couldn’t push him away in the kitchen this morning," Helena said, blushing.
"Any other pre-heat symptoms?" Rae asked.
"Pre-heat? There are pre-heats what are we at in a microwave?" Helena grumbled, making Rae burst out in laughter.
Helena smiled at her best friend. She missed monts like these.
"So any other symptoms?" Rae pushed.
"I can’t keep my eyes off of him when he’s in the room," Helena blushed. "And when he’s near I’m just drawn to him. Like I just want to be in his arms."
"Pretty sure that’s just the two of you, not really symptoms," Rae teased.
Helena punched her shoulder, making Rae laugh even louder.
"I think it affects him too," Helena confessed. "Earlier on the sparing mat he—"
"Ew, nope, no, no details!" Rae shouted as she covered Helena’s mouth. "You’ve given enough, we already know what it is."
Helena laughed and nodded.
Rae slowly took her hands away and smiled.
"Hey, Helena," Rae said, her expression suddenly serious. "There’s nothing wrong with having a mate, nothing wrong with letting yourself love."
"Rae—" Helean groaned.
"No, let say this," Rae insisted.
Helena didn’t speak, she simply nodded.
"Even if it isn’t Roo, even if it’s so other wolf, you deserve to be loved Helena. You deserve love," Rae told her.
"But Rae—" Helena began to say when soone knocked on the door.
"Rea is Helena there? Dad needs to speak to us in his office, Uncle Jeremiah is here," Roo called out.
"I guess I should go," Helena sighed before getting up and leaving.
