Chapter 1644: Chapter 44 Commander

Li Yuan wasn’t stupid. After realizing he couldn’t beat Tang Zheng and had angered the crowd, he decisively backed off to let the heat blow over before making his next move.

“Just wait and see! I have a hundred ways to kill you all!” Li Yuan spat venomously before darting out of the air defense cave and speeding off in his sports car to gather more troops.

“What’s going on? Isn’t Li Yuan the interim group leader?” Old Liu froze in place, scratching his head as dandruff scattered like snowflakes. “What if the enemy shows up?”

“He’s just a coordinator. With his abilities, do you think anyone would listen to him?” Scarface spat on the ground. “What terrible luck, getting stuck with that kind of guy.”

Tang Zheng nodded at Zhu Xiaolei. The lively and straightforward girl left a good impression on him.

“Kid, you’re too scrawny. You need to eat more at! Bulk up, and no one will dare ss with you!” Zhu Xiaolei devoured an oversized hamburger in just three bites, then pulled out several bags of chips, crunching away noisily.

“Xiaolei, cut it out.” The group leader felt a bit embarrassed. Tang Zheng’s physique appeared lean and slender, but no one could deny his strength—after all, they had all seen him land a powerful punch on Li Yuan’s jaw and hold his ground during their clash.

“Uncle’s all lean muscle, okay? Bulk like Schwarzenegger’s is just ugly.” Lu Fan shivered at the thought of Tang Zheng transforming into a bodybuilder like Schwarzenegger.

Tang Zheng’s build was actually ideal, with no extra fat whatsoever. Most Conquerors were striving for similar physiques.

“You look good! Ever thought of getting into cosplay? How about trying Swordsman Zoro?” Zhu Xiaolei stuffed more chips into her mouth while speaking unclearly.

“Maybe one day. We still have matters to attend to. We’ll be heading off now.” Tang Zheng courteously declined, noticing Mu Nianqi looking impatient. If not for Zhu Xiaolei’s earlier assistance, Nianqi would have already told them to leave.

“By the looks of it, you’re searching for soone. Perhaps I can help?” The group leader tried to be diplomatic, impressed by Tang Zheng’s strength and wanting to establish a connection.

“We’re looking for Dantai Zongqi. Do you know where they are currently stationed?” Tang Zheng extended his hand for a handshake with the other.

“The team commander? The Special Agent who even outmaneuvered Ma’s Gang’s mastermind?” Zhu Xiaolei’s interest piqued as she suddenly interrupted. “Of course I know! What’s your relationship with him? Do you have intel on him? I’ll buy it!”

Having seen Dantai’s flawless command style, Zhu Xiaolei had beco one of his fans.

“Stop adding to the chaos! Stay out of this!” The group leader shouted before turning his attention to Tang Zheng. “They’re in a stronghold near the underground palace. I can take you there. By the way, are you their group leader?”

The group leader found Tang Zheng’s youth surprising, but the others’ behavior clearly indicated he was in charge.

“He’s the group leader of Warhamr Team. People call him ‘Good Guy Tang!'” Jiang Xiuming didn’t mind praising Tang Zheng, while Yu Deye, off to the side, angrily fud at being overshadowed yet again.

All eyes turned toward Tang Zheng—a mixture of curiosity and scrutiny. In this era, villains were as common as cows, but a good guy? That was as rare as a panda.

“No wonder he dared to go head-to-head with Li Yuan. He’s got enough clout for it.”

“Absolutely. Besides Vasily’s team, his group has the third-largest mber count globally and is ranked first in the Asia Region.”

“I rember now! This kid holds the Newbie Leaderboard record, sothing not even Di Jingfei managed to achieve!”

“It doesn’t stop there! Have you heard of Mu Nianqi and Gu Xueqi? They’re ranked second and third on the Newbie Leaderboard, and both are in Warhamr Team!” An informant with a penchant for gossip chid in. “There’s also Tao Ran—she’s not famous yet, but I heard Earl Qian Nian thinks highly of her and even sent a knight to protect her.”

Lu Fan’s ears perked up as he eavesdropped on their murmurs.

“Nonsense! Earl Qian Nian, the kind of enigmatic figure who’s impossible to pin down, would never pay attention to a nobody!”

“Then how do you explain the knight’s appearance?”

“Could you lead the way?” Jiang Xiuming adopted a generous tone. “Of course, you won’t be running this errand for free.”

“No need for formalities!” The group leader maintained a neutral expression, but inside, he was overjoyed.

Although Dantai claid to distribute tasks based on combat power, personal connections still ca into play. If he managed to build good rapport with Tang Zheng’s team, he could avoid dangerous assignnts—and possibly even get a share of the rewards after taking down the boss.

“Tang Group Leader, I know a shortcut. Let lead you there.” Several informants imdiately sprang up, eagerly volunteering.

“Sorry, we appreciate the gesture.” Pang iqin was quick to interject, wearing a stern expression. She was determined to uphold Tang Zheng’s image as lofty and impeccable.

Tang Zheng didn’t think too much about it, but Zhu Xiaolei’s enthusiasm suggested that this Group Leader surnad Zeng seed trustworthy. If he had to collaborate, he’d naturally pick soone reliable.

“Can you hurry up?” Yu Deye pressed, intent on reminding everyone—including Zeng Group Leader—that he was also a significant presence.

“What’s the holdup? Move out already!” Zeng Group Leader rallied his subordinates and accompanied Tang Zheng toward the exit.

So people refused to give up, trailing behind and even resorting to flirtatious tactics.

“What are you all doing?” Old Liu broke out in a cold sweat upon seeing a crowd of them leaving. “Dantai specifically instructed us not to roam around aimlessly.”

“This here is Dantai’s group leader.” Zeng patted Old Liu’s shoulder. “I’m taking him to the underground palace.”

“Where’s everyone else?” Old Liu grabbed his communicator, casting a suspicious glance at them. “Whatever you’re up to, I’m reporting it to headquarters.”

Old Liu didn’t want to take responsibility, but before he could connect to the communicator, static noise greeted them.

“Attention teams stationed in the southern suburbs: bait operation successful. Li Si is leading thirty thousand Terracotta Warriors toward your position and will arrive at Jianqiao Street in about fifteen minutes. Prepare for reception.”

The area instantly fell into chaos, with people racing out of the air defense cave.

“It’s Dong Zixuan’s voice,” Lu Fan muttered. “What’s our move?”

“I’ll take you to Dantai.” The group leaders argued amongst each other, looking for excuses to avoid the impending battle. If they had to fight, they’d rather face a worthwhile target. No question—the main troops were already storming the underground palace.

“You can’t leave!” Old Liu stepped in to block their way. “Scarface, think of sothing!”

“Let Dantai know his group leader has arrived, along with a team intending to find him.” Scarface tried shifting the responsibility, but before he could finish, Tang Zheng snatched the communicator.

“Dong Zixuan, report your location.” Tang Zheng furrowed his brows, casting a sharp glance around as a pressure of gravity weighed heavily on everyone, rendering them tense and silent.

“Tang Zheng, is that really you? We’re in North City, near Taoyuan Road,” the policewoman responded gleefully, imdiately addressing his primary concern. “Everyone’s safe.”

“I’ll be right there.” Tang Zheng returned the communicator to Old Liu. “Let’s go.”

These communicators had been distributed by Ma’s Gang, created by their top chanic, so Tang Zheng had no need to take one.

The sound of chaotic footsteps grew louder as the crowd poured out of the air defense cave, only to stare up at the sunny skies, montarily lost on what to do.

The lack of centralized command, paired with Li Yuan’s absence, quickly led to disorder.

“What are you waiting for? Head to Jianqiao Street and set up defenses! Prepare for combat!” Scarface shouted, but nobody moved. Instead, their gazes instinctively shifted toward Tang Zheng.

“Let’s go.” Mu Nianqi urged. Dantai must have already accounted for the current stalemate. These people’s role was to scatter and stall Qin Wangzheng’s forces while the main team seized the opportunity for the boss fight.

The proud Queen Mu wasn’t interested in wasting ti on low-tier bosses.

“Tang Group Leader, we need a commander.” One strategist spoke up, fiercely scanning the crowd. “With soone as strong as Tang Group Leader in charge, there’s a good chance of victory. Anyone who doesn’t comply—I’ll personally deal with them, starting with Old Gao!”

The remark drew widespread agreent.

“Stop stirring things up. Don’t interfere with Tang Group Leader’s important matters.” Zeng Group Leader was eager to join the main assault team against Qin Shi Huang, who would drop far better loot than a nobody like Li Si.

“Where are the reinforcents? We can barely hold on! Li Si is stronger than expected!” The bait team mber scread into the communicator, loud enough to distort the sound.

“What abilities does Li Si have?” Tang Zheng grabbed the communicator, simultaneously questioning and warning the group. “You chose as your leader—if anyone challenges , don’t bla for being ruthless.”

The group shivered, clearly sensing lethal intent in his words.

“What are you standing around for? Head to Jianqiao Street!” Yu Deye kicked one man, jolting the crowd into action as they began retrieving their vehicles.

Dantai had anticipated the possibility of the Qin Army arriving earlier than expected.

All roadblocks had been cleared for rapid transit, cutting the route to just a three-minute drive. When the group arrived, they were still on ti.

“Long-range faction, enter the buildings. Wait for my signal, then unleash everything you’ve got against the grunts! Form groups of three teams and monitor each other!”

“Defense Type, focus solely on Li Si. Keep him locked down tight.”

“Strong Attack Faction, target Li Si. No attacks without my orders!”

“Healing System, stay on standby.”

Tang Zheng’s command sent over a hundred long-range Conquerors scattering into nearby buildings. The others followed him, ready for combat against Li Si.

“Nianqi, things should be manageable here. You and Brother Jiang go support Dantai.” Tang Zheng was concerned Qin Yan’s squad might lack sufficient firepower and risk being ambushed.

“Be careful.” Mu Nianqi didn’t hesitate, knowing the numbers here would suffice to overwhelm Li Si. The real action was at Qin Wangzheng’s location, the main battlefield.

Tang Zheng’s move was simply ant to build up additional alliances and recruit new pawns for leverage against Ma’s Gang.

“They’re here!”

The shout wasn’t just from one individual. As a war chariot riddled with spears and arrows rolled into view, the thunderclap-like sound of horse hooves grew deafening. In the blink of an eye, a flood of cavalry surged onto Long Street, obliterating everything in their path.

“Why are you just standing there? Pick up your gun and aim!” Tang Zheng snapped, glaring at a Defense Type mber frozen in place. “You don’t have long-range attack capabilities? Can’t you shoot?”

The Defense Type group leader felt humiliated and rushed over, landing two kicks on the man’s thigh.

“Everyone, follow my orders! Ready… Fire!” Tang Zheng’s raised right arm swung downward dramatically!
