Chapter 259: Chapter 259: He Will Definitely Wake Up
Xu Jinzhi still remained unmoved, her voice soft, “No, I must stay here and wait for Xie Yanchuan to wake up.”
“He will definitely wake up soon; once he does, I’ll go rest.”
Xu Zhen furrowed his brows, not knowing how he could possibly convince Xu Jinzhi to change her mind.
In the end, Xu Jinzhi still did not leave and just sat there in the chair, but later it was unclear whether Xu Jinzhi had fallen asleep due to her body reaching its limit or because she had passed out from the fever.
Xu Zhen stayed by Xu Jinzhi’s side, and when Xu Jinzhi’s eyes grew heavy and closed, he wanted her to lean on his shoulder.
Knowing that saying anything at that mont was superfluous, Xu Zhen thought about finding a place for her to sleep properly after she fell asleep.
However, when his hand touched Xu Jinzhi’s cheek, Xu Zhen felt an abnormal temperature; it was clearly a fever.
Xu Zhen’s eyes widened and in an instant, chaos ensued.
It was not until Xu Jinzhi was lying on the hospital bed, with a nurse coming over to administer the IV, that Xu Zhen stayed there, watching Xu Jinzhi’s pale and frail face with a heavy sigh.
He did not know when Xu Jinzhi had started having a fever, and as for looking unwell, since he knew about Xie Yanchuan’s incident, their faces had never looked good.
So, at the ti he did not think much of it, and only now did he find out about Xu Jinzhi’s fever.
She hadn’t fallen asleep because she was rely tired, but because she had fainted from a high fever.
Xu Zhen watched Xu Jinzhi with a heart full of pain, not understanding why things had turned out this way.
~
Xu Jinzhi had a dream where she woke up in complete darkness.
But there was nothing around her, just endless darkness that made her instinctively panic, almost subconsciously shouting, “Xie Yanchuan!”
But no one responded; there was nothing in the boundless darkness.
Yet, in Xu Jinzhi’s mind, there was one thought — to find Xie Yanchuan. Therefore, Xu Jinzhi began to grope through the endless darkness.
Her voice trembling, her heart in panic, she called out again and again, “Xie Yanchuan!”
Still, there was nothing. She kept walking, and the darkness around her did not disappear; she still couldn’t see anything.
However, at the next mont, Xu Jinzhi suddenly stepped into void.
“Ah!” Xu Jinzhi abruptly opened her eyes, the sudden brightness uncomfortable, but she was still caught in the panic of her sudden fall, her heart racing.
Xu Jinzhi breathed heavily, cold sweat on her forehead, taking deep breaths.
“Jinzhi, what’s wrong?” Xu Zhen suddenly appeared in front of Xu Jinzhi, his face full of concern as he looked at her.
Xu Jinzhi, hearing his voice, looked at Xu Zhen sowhat dazedly, but she still hadn’t fully co to her senses.
Xu Zhen took a tissue from beside him and wiped the cold sweat from Xu Jinzhi’s forehead, then touched her forehead.
But this test made Xu Zhen frown again, as Xu Jinzhi had started to fever again; he imdiately pressed the call button nearby.
The nurse quickly arrived and found out that Xu Jinzhi had started to fever again.
However, after the nurse’s examination, it was confird that Xu Jinzhi had only a temperature of 38 degrees, and considering he had just finished an IV drip two hours ago, there was no way they could continue to dicate him.
The best solution was to take dicine and endure.
Xu Zhen, after hearing the nurse’s explanation, furrowed his brows so much it seed he could kill a fly with them, but he had no other choice.
Xu Jinzhi, uninterested in what they were saying, had now realized where she was. She felt uncomfortable all over, yet Xu Jinzhi still tried to get up, supporting herself with her hands.
Seeing this, Xu Zhen quickly helped her, but he disapproved of Xu Jinzhi’s actions right now, “You need to rest now.”
“I want to see Xie Yanchuan,” Xu Jinzhi said with a hoarse voice.
Xu Zhen replied, “He is in the intensive care unit right now, you can’t go in, and with your fever, you definitely can’t go in.”
Xu Jinzhi was dazed, but she still caught the key point from Xu Zhen’s previous words; yes, with her fever, she couldn’t go in.
However, Xu Jinzhi paused for only a brief two seconds. Even though she couldn’t go inside, she still wanted to wait outside.
She wanted to stay by Xie Yanchuan’s side, to wait for Xie Yanchuan to wake up!
Perhaps knowing that his persuasion was futile, Xu Zhen didn’t try to stop Xu Jinzhi anymore, only asking her to eat sothing first, and then take her dication before going over.
Xu Jinzhi didn’t refuse, because she knew she couldn’t collapse now.
It was just that Xu Jinzhi had no appetite, and after simply eating so porridge, she stopped.
Xu Zhen didn’t say much, handed her the dication with water, and made Xu Jinzhi take it.
As Xu Jinzhi got off the bed, she paused and looked at the exhausted Xu Zhen, holding back her sadness, “Have you been here the whole ti without resting?”
Xu Zhen smiled, “I’m fine, I slept here for a while last night.”
These words were to deceive Xu Jinzhi; Xu Zhen had not even dared to close his eyes last night, staying alert the whole ti at Xu Jinzhi’s side.
Xu Jinzhi knew Xu Zhen was lying to her. With her eyes reddened and a hoarse voice, she said, “I’ll go over by myself now, you should go back and rest for a bit.”
Xu Zhen instinctively wanted to refuse, but Xu Jinzhi preempted him, “There’s still a lot to be handled later, don’t you want to help with it?”
Reluctantly, Xu Zhen nodded, “I’ll accompany you over first, then I’ll go back and get ready.”
Afterwards, the two of them went together to the intensive care unit, but they could only wait outside, unable to enter.
They first sought the doctor to inquire about the current condition of Xie Yanchuan.
Upon seeing them, the doctor’s expression was grave, clearly indicating the situation was not good. Otherwise, the doctor wouldn’t be so serious.
But Xu Jinzhi couldn’t give up like this, she took a deep breath, trying to keep her tone as steady as possible, “Doctor, how is he doing now?”
The doctor said, “His condition is stable, it hasn’t worsened, but there are no signs of waking up.”
When the surgery had ended, the doctor had already said, if he couldn’t wake up within forty-eight hours, the likelihood of brain death was very high.
Xux Jinzhi remained silent. After a long while, she forced a smile and said, “There’s still ti, he will definitely wake up.”
The doctor didn’t discourage Xu Jinzhi’s confidence, but he didn’t endorse her words either. To the doctor, the likelihood of brain death was very high.
