Chapter 134
I’m Very Well-Endowed!
Cliff’s mouth was stuffed full, completely unaware that the two people approaching were looking for her.
Henry, anwhile, watched the newcors with little interest.
He recognized them; they had also been in the Adventurers’ Association earlier.
And they were among those who had mocked Cliff.
Yet now, here they were, scurrying over to lick her boots.
Seeing that Cliff wasn’t paying them any mind, they showed no signs of embarrassnt.
One of them circled around to stand beside Cliff and continued, “Miss Cliff, my na is Nokai. I’m the only A-rank adventurer in this village, and these others are all B-rank adventurers. Our team’s strength is considerable. If you could join us, we would certainly beco a famous adventuring party across the entire continent!”
Hearing this, Cliff finally realized they were inviting her!
In the past, she wouldn’t have dared to imagine such a thing.
She swallowed the roast at in her mouth and then looked the group over curiously.
Then she turned to Henry and asked, “Batman, they’re inviting us to join their party! This is my first ti encountering sothing like this.”
Aside from traveling with Batman, Cliff had no experience teaming up with others.
Facing this first-ti situation, she naturally sought Batman’s opinion.
Henry calmly picked up a piece of at and placed it in his mouth. “They’re asking you, not . Besides, a single party can have at most six mbers. Adding would put them over the limit. Unless they create a guild, but they don’t have enough people for that yet.”
Hearing Henry’s words, the man nodded in agreent. Their intention had always been to invite Cliff alone; they had no interest in soone as unremarkable as Henry.
Upon hearing this, Cliff’s mouth twitched. She hadn’t realized the Adventurers’ Association had such rules. And if Batman wasn’t going to be there, she had no interest in joining soone else’s party either.
“Sorry, I refuse.”
“Eh… Why? Our party is very strong! We’ve successfully hunted a monster before!”
“But I can do that by myself…” Cliff didn’t really understand why they would use slaying a monster as a point of pride. What they considered a difficult feat was, in her eyes, just a trivial matter. Besides, she wasn’t interested in becoming a famous adventurer across the continent. All she wanted was to spread the existence of magic throughout the lands, to let everyone experience the joy of magic.
The group was stunned by Cliff’s words. They had paid a heavy price to defeat that monster, yet in Cliff’s words, it sounded like sothing that could be done effortlessly. This was hard for them to accept.
“This… We can et any of your demands, as long as you join us!” They gritted their teeth and offered their most favorable conditions. Having an S-rank adventurer in a party would bring imnse resources to the entire team. They would be respected wherever they went. Cliff’s presence alone could elevate their entire party to unprecedented heights.
“I don’t need to. I already have my own partner,” Cliff refused their invitation.
However, the other party seed unable to accept Cliff’s choice. In their eyes, their group was clearly much stronger than this pretty-faced man beside her! Apart from being sowhat handso, this man had no visible advantages. Didn’t Cliff want to beco famous?
Thinking this, the speaker glared fiercely at Henry, his expression full of resentnt towards Henry’s very existence. If not for Henry, perhaps Cliff would have agreed to their request.
“Hmph! What’s it to you? I was only inviting Cliff.”
“It has nothing to do with . However, I don’t like being disturbed by people loitering around while I’m eating. It ruins the mood,” Henry raised his eyes slightly to et the other’s gaze. His expression was calm, as if he didn’t consider the other party a threat.
“I challenge you to a duel! The winner earns the right to partner with Miss Cliff!”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a heavy weight settled on his shoulder, as if sothing had been placed there. Cliff, who was still eating, suddenly sensed an energy fluctuation in the surroundings, yet it wasn’t magic! She instinctively looked up and was surprised to find the source of the energy was none other than Batman right in front of her.
At the sa ti, the man angrily tried to shrug off the thing on his neck, but as his hand brushed past it, a streak of crimson blood was left behind. He turned his head in shock and saw a sword hovering at his throat, poised to slice through his neck in the next second.
“This… What are you doing? Trying to rebel?” He thought it was his lackeys behind him, but the others replied in trembling voices, “N-no… it wasn’t us! The sword unsheathed itself! We can’t control it!”
Hearing this, the man’s body froze in place, and he chanically turned his head back to look at Henry. Henry’s face showed no expression, as if it had nothing to do with him. Yet his eyes conveyed a clear ssage: if he caused trouble here, his head would be kissing the ground in the next mont.
“First, I have no obligation to play these childish gas with you. Second, Cliff is not an object. Who she teams up with is her freedom. Neither you nor I have the right to control her life.”
Henry’s words made the other won present light up with admiration, and so even cheered and applauded. The troublemaker, however, stood rooted to the spot, not daring to move. Cliff stared straight at Henry, her mouth agape and unable to close. This was the first ti she had heard soone speak like that. So Batman respected her this much? She blushed, silently lowered her head, her heart a whirl of complex emotions.
“Get lost. I’m not in the mood to kill anyone.” Henry snapped his fingers, and the sword pressing against the man’s neck clattered to the ground. Thoroughly frightened by Henry, the man and his lackeys scrambled away, stumbling and crawling.
They never expected that the unremarkable Henry could also use magic! Of course, they wouldn’t realize—this wasn’t magic at all. It’s Spiritual Energy, kid!
Since they had dropped their equipnt, Henry picked it up for his own use, saving himself the trouble of buying a new one.
He placed a piece of at into Cliff’s bowl. “Eat more. Look how skinny you are, nothing but skin and bones!”
“I… I’m very well-endowed!” Cliff’s mouth was still stuffed full of at as she puffed out her chest to showcase her figure!
Hmm… indeed well-endowed, especially compared to Sherisa.
