Yelina sounded extrely serious as she talked about the mysterious boss. There was also a certain sense of pride in her voice that she was working for a person like that.
’My achievents? Like selling lemon juice and losing money? Is there anything other than that for you all to be so impressed? No, even if it’s about that lemon juice, it should be a secret. So what else could there be?’
Leo didn’t know what was going on. Deep down, a feeling of unease had started rising within his heart.
"Our boss is Leo Vanderlen!" Yelina said in a low voice. "THE LEO VANDERLEN!"
"What about him? What did he do?" he asked, his voice brimming with confusion.
"Kid, don’t tell you lived under a rock? Do you seriously not know Leo Vanderlen?" Yelina asked in disbelief, her voice growing louder.
Leo still didn’t understand. Was there anyone else that knew more about him than himself? As far as he rembered, there were no crazy feats that could’ve impressed others.
The only thing that he could consider an impressive achievent, were being kidnapped by Necropolis and leaving that place safely with Voldred’s blessing.
Still, that achievent was only known by him. It was impossible for anyone on earth to know sothing like that.
The woman shook her head lightly. "Still, I guess I can understand. I also know a few researchers that only think about researching, and don’t pay attention to the outside world."
"You truly aren’t online much, are you? No wonder you don’t know about the greatest researcher of our era that saved millions of lives with his inventions!"
Once Yelina started speaking, she didn’t stop for even a second. She kept talking about the achievents Leo had made in his life.
So of those details even surprised himself, since they included extrely personal details from his childhood and the poverty where he ca from.
The story ntioned him creating the elixirs while living in a single bedroom with nothing to eat.
There were even so exaggerations that made it appear like he was cleaning dishes in third grade bars to be able to afford materials to continue his research in the elixirs.
He was truly made to sound like so tragic protagonist. And hearing soone else talk about him in such a manner was a surreal feeling.
Yelina ntioned the incident that happened at the Hero Tower where he was almost killed because of false accusations.
Leo couldn’t believe that even such details were leaked to the public, especially since they made the Hero Tower appear like the bad people.
Up to this point, although there were so exaggerations, these were mostly things that Leo already knew but when he heard about the things that happened after that, he was truly gobsmacked.
Blaze fought with the Hero Tower Master because of this incident? That was the incident which made everything blow up and the details beco public?
Even more shocking was that Blaze literally ca forward and apologized to him through news channels, inviting him back.
After that, Yelina ntioned that Leo was seen as the savior of earth since he had removed the biggest weakness of the heroes. She even talked about Alpha Corp going public.
"Just one percent share, and they were bought for 1.5 Billion Credits? Can you believe it?" Yelina’s eyes were starstruck, even as she was holding the hand of the person in question without realisation.
"You have no idea how we felt when we heard all that. That man... He was fighting for a better earth, sacrificing his ti and energy for our future. And we were wasting his research fund for our own personal projects?"
The mont she said that, she quickly realised her mistake and closed her mouth.
"Forget the last line. Alright?" she asked.
Leo looked like he had eaten a fly. Wasn’t that what he wanted? For them to waste his money? Why did they sound like they had realized their mistake and were striving for a change?
"Anyways, everyone has been working hard to correct their mistakes. Since it’s a project assigned by the greatest researcher of our ti, even if we can’t understand its usefulness, it must truly be important for our survival!" Yelina said.
"Important for your survival? Invisible Pants? Are you freaking serious right now?" Leo’s lips started twitching intently, as he realized that the researchers had really gone astray.
"That’s why, all of us have been working overti to make up for the lost ti! We are also seeing so positive results in our research. At this rate, we might complete our research in a month, and have our first prototype!"
"I-Isn’t it too fast?" Leo said, his voice shaking in disbelief. "Maybe we are misunderstanding the significance of this project? It might as well be a fun project for him just for the sake of it? There’s no need for a hurry, right?"
"Hmph, you think just like we thought initially! It ans that you also can’t understand the genius level of our boss! I don’t bla you. We just can’t see his greatness. We can only try to follow him to leave our nas in the annals of history!"
"Annals of history? You’re seriously planning to leave your nas in history as creators of invisible pants?" Leo almost wanted to facepalm himself. Fortunately, his hand was held by Yelina.
’These people are really a gone case. It’s a good thing that I picked the worst project ever, preparing for a situation like this. Even if you have ruined my plan of wasting my money, still, this project will never succeed.’
He took a deep breath, and cald down.
"No, maybe it might be for the better. I can only waste so much in research. Once they have a prototype, I can create a factory and create millions of such invisible pants that no one will buy!"
Even though things had started to go astray, wasn’t that why he picked such a useless project? It was keeping in mind that they might eventually succeed.
