"Mom, go inside first, it’s cold outside!" The "doctor’s" face froze for a mont, and he hurriedly pushed his mother back indoors.
After pushing his mother away, the "doctor" said to Xie Chang, "Xiao Xie, my mom is just like that. She ans no harm, don’t take it to heart!"
Clearly, the "doctor" did not treat Xie Chang as soone who just ate and lived in their house.
Faced with other people’s family matters, Chen Xin did not comnt but simply picked up the dical kit the "doctor" exchanged with him. He explained the usage of the oxygen generator to the "doctor", glanced at Xie Chang, and then turned to his car to leave.
On the road ho, Chen Xin reflected on the attitude of the "doctor’s" mother towards Xie Chang and felt inexplicably uncomfortable.
Even though the attitude of the "doctor’s" mother towards Xie Chang seed to be a commonplace norm even before the apocalypse, Chen Xin felt it was wrong.
Because it lacked the most basic respect between people.
In the apocalypse, perhaps everyone struggles to survive; so may do selfish things to ensure they live, which is understandable.
But Chen Xin always felt that even while safeguarding one’s own survival at the expense of others’ interests or lives, one should maintain the most basic respect for others.
The reason why humans are called humans is because we have humanity and morals, which are also our biggest distinguishing traits from beasts.
If people cannot be called humans, then what difference is there between them and animals?
Moreover, even animals do not amuse themselves by bullying, abusing, or insulting their kind.
This is sothing only humans do after losing the moral baseline and the most basic respect for others.
Chen Xin did not intend to judge the "doctor’s" mother on her attitude towards Xie Chang, but he never hoped to encounter a person who did not understand respect for others.
Fortunately, the "doctor’s" mother lives in their own family’s shelter; otherwise, if it were an official shelter, her attitude would inevitably cause trouble.
In those post-apocalyptic scenarios depicted in movies, she might very well be among the first to die.
Chen Xin shook his head, as if realizing that cursing soone with death wasn’t good, so he stopped thinking about it and pressed the gas pedal, intending to quickly return ho and try to see if the doctor’s dical kit could upgrade to a dical room.
——————————————————
The city roads seed to have been cleared by soone, not all roads were clear, but at least the main roads were passable.
Chen Xin drove fast and soon returned to his shelter.
After a bit of tidying up, Chen Xin carried the exchanged dical kit back to the living room, found his dical box and first aid kit, and put all three together.
Looking at the three dical supplies he had gathered, Chen Xin thought for a mont and then decided to bring over a chair.
If upgraded to a dical room, the level of upgrade certainly wouldn’t be high right now, but there should at least be a place to sit down and deal with injuries or provide treatnt.
Once everything was ready, Chen Xin hesitated a mont but still placed everything in a corner of the living room, planning to connect the dical room to the living room rather than moving it to the empty garage.
He planned to turn that space into a workshop for making equipnt or other things.
After all, when it cos to building sothing like Power Armor or cha in the future, it would definitely require space, even though it’s still far-fetched for Chen Xin at the mont.
With everything prepared, Chen Xin called out the system upgrade interface.
"Simple dical Treatnt Room"
"Upgrade Plan 1: Expand dical treatnt room space, add surgical chairs, upgrade surgical instrunts, add sterile space, bacteria reproduction rate -10%, survival points required for upgrade 1000"
"Upgrade Plan 2: Expand dical treatnt room space, add testing equipnt, add a dicine storage cabinet, dicine storage ti 10%, survival points required for upgrade 1100"
Seeing the upgrade plans provided by the system, Chen Xin finally felt at ease.
He had been worried that even with the dical kit provided by the "doctor," the system might not consider it enough to set up a dical room, and he wouldn’t know what to do.
If that were the case, he would have to go to the "doctor" again or get more dical supplies via Qin Lan.
Though it wouldn’t be very troubleso, Chen Xin didn’t like any kind of hassle.
Fortunately, the system now provided a satisfactory result; he just needed to complete the upgrade.
Chen Xin didn’t rush to upgrade, as upgrading the dical treatnt room would require so materials in addition to rely using survival points.
There were so things he didn’t have yet, which he planned to exchange for with Qin Lan later.
Anyway, he already had the frequency of the communications channel from the special police unit so he could contact Qin Lan directly without needing Mo Qingyan to relay ssages.
The possible outco of upgrading the dical room made Chen Xin feel very pleased, and since it was lunchti, he decided to eat sothing nice today.
He took out a can of canned pork from the storeroom, along with so shelter food given by Qin Lan. After thinking it over, he added a box of luncheon at and a cabbage.
Since he decided to eat a bit better, adding another dish wouldn’t count as extravagant.
However, when leaving the storeroom, Chen Xin glanced at the beer and cola he had found from outside, hesitated a bit, but ultimately decided not to touch them.
In this post-apocalyptic situation, the production of wine and drinks might take a long ti to recover, and what’s available is mostly what was stored before the disaster; using so ans having less left.
Just like the cola and beer Chen Xin discovered, brewing beer requires wheat, and now to use wheat for brewing beer would be an extrely luxurious affair.
While cola might be produced again, it would probably beco like a high-end luxury item.
So, the cola and beer he found are things Chen Xin wouldn’t easily indulge in before they expire.
Unless sothing happens that makes him happy enough, he might consider opening one to celebrate.
He opened the can of pork, poured the stewed, tender at and congealed fat into a pot and placed it on the induction cooker to heat. anwhile, he cleaned the cabbage and chopped it together with the luncheon at, planning to stir-fry them.
When the juices in the pot started to bubble, Chen Xin poured the at and juices back into the can.
As for the leftover oil and a bit of juice in the pot, Chen Xin didn’t pour it out or clean it but instead put it back on the induction cooker, then added the cabbage and luncheon at to the pot and started stirring.
Given the scarcity of resources in the apocalyptic world, things like oil and salt should be saved where possible, since even at Qin Lan’s place, it’s hard to exchange for seasoning like oil and salt.
