Crack!
Roar!
A loud noise accompanied by a roar that entirely belonged to a zombie, the long sword struck a fissure on the dike that spread in all directions!
Imdiately following, the dazed soldiers only saw a flash of cold light in the distance, and in the blink of an eye, the soldier who was idle a mont before and now pinned to the dike was dismbered into eight pieces. One piece, oozing black pus, flew a short distance away, rolled a few tis on the ground, and stopped. Yet the flesh on it was frantically twitching.
Sprouts of flesh erged, trying to form a new body!
As Su Sigui walked, she slowly sheathed her knife and sword, and before this piece of flesh could fully regenerate, she stomped on it!
In an instant, this piece of flesh seed like a sponge filled with water, its decayed tissues splattered, and the Evolution Crystal contained within burst out, clumsily caught by the officer in the distance.
The series of events that transpired couldn’t have taken even three seconds. With a "swish", almost in the blink of an eye, two Level 8 zombies t their tragic end before the eyes of everyone.
The battle was over, effortlessly, yet the soldiers were still in a state of stupor!
Only now did they begin to grasp the sheer power of a Level 9 existence.
The bewildered soldier who caught the Evolution Crystal finally ca to his senses. Imdiately, he nervously jogged over to Su Sigui, lowering his usually proud head, his voice trembling: "Mayor..."
"You don’t need to bla yourself. It’s normal not to notice, but from now on, I won’t allow such things to happen again."
"Yes! I understand! Mayor." The officer wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, glanced at the remains of the two zombies, and was filled with terror and uncertainty.
When did it happen?
How did two Level 8 zombies infiltrate his team without him noticing!
But now is not the ti to dwell on this, so he quickly asked Su Sigui, "Mayor, this position might have been exposed. Should we proceed with an ergency transfer of the source body?"
Su Sigui shook her head indifferently: "No need, from now on, I’ll personally guard here until the God Rain Plan is ready and enters its final stage."
Upon hearing this, the officer nodded heavily. The Level 9 New Human was undoubtedly dangerous; by her side, her inadvertent whims could decide life and death, but at this mont, having a Level 9 New Human nearby brought enough of a sense of security.
Why do people desperately try to enter Cloud Gorge Base? Isn’t the fundantal reason because it harbors the only Level 9 New Human ever known to humanity?
Perhaps one Level 9 New Human isn’t enough, but their presence ans Cloud Gorge Base won’t helplessly surrender to Zombie King level beings like other survivor bases and Sanctuary Cities on the continent!
There is no choice but to watch the inevitable downfall of their ho base, then watch themselves with nowhere to flee, being devoured bit by bit by zombies.
Su Sigui choosing to personally guard here also indicates how seriously she regards the God Rain Plan.
Glancing again at the remains of the two zombies, the officer murmured to himself, "Strange..."
"Mayor, those two zombies don’t seem to be radiation mutants." The soldier spoke to Su Sigui, who already knew the two zombies weren’t radiation mutants. The first zombie killed had a fairly intact body, which revealed that it was entirely black, with so bones growing on the skin surface, attached to the skin. Tiny dark red sprouts of flesh tried to erge from the slash in its shoulder that Su Sigui had made.
However, due to Su Sigui’s swift removal of the Evolution Crystal, these sprouts had all withered and showed no signs of life.
This must be an Abyssal Zombie King’s offspring, a black insect zombie!
"It shouldn’t be possible, according to the data, black insect zombies don’t possess the ability to disguise as humans..."
"The sea of learning knows no bounds, learning is endless. From the mont a human infant is born, it is constantly learning. Zombies with thoughts are the sa. Humans use acquired learning to make up for innate deficiencies, so why can’t zombies do the sa?"
"This... it’s unfair. We humans already struggle greatly against zombies of the sa level. If zombies can learn, we lose even our last advantage."
Su Sigui shook her head and said no more. She looked up at the floating "Sky Continent" suspended in the air, staying silent for a long ti.
She seed to be making eye contact with soone, and only retracted her gaze after the other left...
To the officer, she said, "There’s never been a thing called fairness in this world, only survival of the fittest." Having said that, she murmured softly to herself, "The ti should be about right now..." Then she gestured to the soldiers in the transport vehicle, who then started the engine and drove the girl into the tunnel.
By the ti the transport vehicle disappeared into the darkness deep within the tunnel, Su Sigui said to the officer beside her, "Clean up this place. Before long, what awaits you will be two outcos. The first is dying in battle here, the second..." She paused mid-sentence and shook her head, saying no more.
The officer’s curiosity got the better of him, and he couldn’t help but ask, "What is the second?"
"You’ll find out soon enough," Su Sigui gave a non-committal answer.
She watched as the soldiers cleaned up the remains of the zombies into scrap bins, her thoughts drifting away.
Once upon a ti, her fear of a Zombie King was no different from others; she would get nervous and terrified and be at a loss. When did she begin to view Zombie Kings with calmness?
Was it the mont she evolved into a Level 9 New Human and gained the power to fight a Zombie King?
It didn’t seem so...
It appeared to start after she gradually understood zombies, as she had said, humans can compensate for innate deficiencies through learning, and so can zombies.
Once they obtain wisdom, zombies instinctively learn from the things around them, it could be unnoticeable animals, their own kind, or humans on their nu. But since they can learn, zombies cannot avoid naivety.
This is evident from the black insect zombies disguised as humans. They mistakenly believe that following the sa steps as others can yield the sa results, without realizing the absence of ingredients and undiscovered details others have.
They may deceive others, but unfortunately for them, they can’t disguise perfectly like radiation mutants, so in front of a Level 9 New Human who can see an additional color, their efforts are in vain.
It’s clear to see if it’s a person or a ghost.
Just clumsy apprentices.
