For so reason, the light shining from the south suddenly beca even more blinding. People looked to the south and were imdiately dazzled, unable to see anything around them. The ominous clouds overhead only added to the eerie atmosphere pervading the entire Cloud Gorge Base.
"What’s happening over there?" a sergeant questioned, puzzled. Although the southern light had indeed been glaring, it had never reached this level of intensity before. Based on his past experience, he could imdiately think of one possibility, though he hoped he was overthinking things.
One sergeant took out a communicator and started to operate it. Upon connecting, the response left them stunned.
"What’s happening over there?"
"We’ve just received a ssage; Zombie King Kamutos has successfully crossed the Mirror Realm defense line!"
"How is that possible? Isn’t this Zombie King most afraid of mirrors and such?"
"No, there’s been a communication breakdown between Mirror Realm and headquarters. Zombie King Kamutos doesn’t have followers, so it might be the followers of other Zombie Kings or simply other Zombie Kings behind this."
"Does the mayor know?"
"She was inford two hours ago."
"And how did she react?"
"Uncertain. She seed not to care at all."
"Hiss~ All right, let’s focus on dealing with this zombie horde first, and then consider other issues."
"It might not be that simple."
"What do you an?"
"This wave of the zombie horde is likely just testing us; the main force is yet to co..."
"What about our reconnaissance teams stationed outside? Where are they?"
"We’ve already lost contact with them..."
On the ramparts, several sergeants fell silent as they looked at the reddening sky in the distance. Only a handful of mutated zombies were visible within the horde. No one knew what trick the Zombie King was playing, and nobody had any good ideas. The only course of action, the necessary one, was to quickly deal with the current zombie horde!
But can a zombie horde of this two-million magnitude be dealt with that easily? Even the Cloud Gorge Base, when facing such a scale, would have to fight for an entire day and night! Of course, that’s the quickest record of the Cloud Gorge Base—if it drags on a bit, it might take more than two days to resolve this horde!
Yet, do they have that much ti?
At the Zombie King’s pace, it will reach Cloud Gorge Base by six o’clock this afternoon at the latest!
In areas least affected by the nuclear blast, large mobs with black cloth tied around their heads road the streets, wielding knives and clubs, robbing and killing anyone they encountered! These maniacs rushed into the relatively intact buildings, plundering whatever food remained marginally edible. If they stumbled upon children or won, they’d brutally murder or tornt them with unspeakable ans!
However, so Righteous Defender Groups ard with laser weapons road the streets, taking down the thugs. The sounds of gunshots and laser discharges intertwined, and anyone walking the streets would find a corpse in a pool of blood every few steps!
A military transport truck roared through the dust-covered streets, rolling roughly over the ruins, grinding all debris into powder beneath its treads!
Seeing the truck’s nacing spikes at its front, people nearby quickly stepped aside and watched as it disappeared from view.
The truck sped along, unstoppable, reducing any obstacles in its way to dust as if they were re piles of beans!
Until the road ahead began to slope downward, did its speed finally start to decrease. Before long, the passengers could see the wide, deep tunnel looming ahead from a kiloter away. A girl resting her head by the window seed to sense sothing, opened her eyes, glanced at the two rows of fully ard soldiers at the tunnel entrance, then turned to look at Su Sigui beside her. Seeing no reaction, she closed her eyes again for a nap.
As the truck approached the tunnel entrance, an officer pacing back and forth halted his steps, raised a hand to signal the vehicle to stop. The surrounding soldiers quickly surrounded the transport truck, but as soon as the officer spotted Su Sigui inside, his expression turned stern, hastily summoned a few soldiers to open the door.
"Mayor!"
"What’s the situation?"
"No abnormalities so far. We’ve evacuated everyone within six kiloters."
"That’s good." Su Sigui nodded, expressionless, while the officer turned, waving his hand and shouting to the soldiers, "Let them through!"
The interception gate opened, but the transport truck didn’t move into the tunnel imdiately. The soldiers inside awaited Su Sigui’s command, but her subsequent behavior was sowhat bizarre. Without a word, she approached an inconspicuous soldier and made a very strange request.
"I feel like eating waterlon, go buy one for ."
Su Sigui’s words left all the soldiers present stunned, looking at the soldier she addressed with puzzled expressions.
That soldier stood motionless, holding a laser weapon at attention, appearing sowhat stiff. It was unclear if he was dumbfounded by Su Sigui’s sudden action or pretending to be calm.
But soon, the soldier shouted, "Yes!" As he slung his weapon over his shoulder to go buy waterlon for Su Sigui, who could have anticipated that the mont he took his first step, Su Sigui would suddenly strike, grabbing his hair with terrifying strength, rendering him powerless. He imdiately fell backward to the ground!
Ting~
With a swift motion, Su Sigui drew a grueso sword made entirely of flesh from her lower back and slashed it down on the soldier’s neck!
The sharp blade cut through the soldier’s neck like a piece of soft tofu, effortlessly slicing it open. When it reached his head, Su Sigui applied force to the blade, and the next mont, a "crack" echoed—it was the sound of his skull breaking, his head split in two, and a purple Evolution Crystal clanked to the ground!
Throughout this sequence, the surrounding soldiers hadn’t reacted before Su Sigui seed to teleport, vanishing. A soldier stationed not far away inexplicably jumped down, dashing wildly towards the nearest defense barrier. But to his surprise, although Su Sigui hadn’t reached him yet, her sword did first—a gleaming streak pierced violently from the bridge of his nose, exiting his occiput!
The force contained within was so overpowering he had no capability to resist, his entire body flung backward, pinned to the dyke behind!
