Han Jingnian nodded for the third ti, this ti accompanied by a very faint "mm-hmm".
Xia Wan’an thought back to last night; his reassurances had been just as warm then, but in reality, he’d knocked her out cold. She pondered the mory before saying aloud, "Given your behavior last night, my trust in you is rather low. Maybe you should make a vow..."

Xia Wan’an stared intently at Han Jingnian and waited patiently.
Three minutes later, Han Jingnian opened his mouth, and in the end, chose to remain silent.
If he were to face a similar situation again like last night’s, he would do the sa thing, and so, he couldn’t possibly vow to do otherwise.
Moreover, a vow is such an important thing, how could he make one when he knew he couldn’t follow through?
Xia Wan’an watched as Han Jingnian opened his mouth and didn’t say a word, and imdiately, she felt a surge of annoyance.
What was he implying? That he’d rather die than make a vow? So, his quick "mm-hmm" just now was only to appease and deceive her? Does this an that if they were to face a similar situation, he would act as he did last night again?
That settled it for Xia Wan’an, "So you’re saying you can’t do it? Then fine, since you can’t, let’s lay down so rules because every country has its own laws, every family has its own rules... Considering how you treated yesterday, if you want to forgive you, it’s not impossible. I don’t need you to kneel and pick up shards, or stay kneeling on the TV remote, or buy lipstick... All I need is for you to abstain from seeing for a month, starting from today."
She’d laid down the ultimatum in such a stern tone, indeed, he should compromise now, right?
Unexpectedly, just as Xia Wan’an was finishing her remarks, Han Jingnian’s eyes abruptly cooled, and he looked at her before coldly throwing back, "No."

Sitting on the couch, Han Jingnian pressed his lips together tightly, as if making a hard decision. After a while, he nodded, said "Fine," got up, went into the master bedroom, gathered so personal items, and tossed out a casual "Take care of yourself this month" to Xia Wan’an. Then he left.
As the door closed, Xia Wan’an, sitting on the couch, was completely stunned.
He left? Han Jingnian actually just left?
Couldn’t he have compromised, assuring her that he would never behave the sa again in such a situation? But how could Han Jingnian just leave?!
She had just said "don’t see for a month"... He wouldn’t really stay away for an entire month, would he?! If he did, wasn’t she effectively digging a hole and burying herself in it?!
