Chapter 1171: Chapter 1171: Extra Story of the Eel 8

The man stood at the paynt window, his tall figure leaning forward slightly, his brows lightly furrowed as he patiently listened to the person inside speaking, then took out his wallet and began searching.

His refined and gentle face carried a hint of worry, as though sothing was troubling him.

Su Man hurriedly jogged over.

She was concerned that her father’s dical expenses hadn’t been fully paid, and now her lifesaver might have to cover the remainder!

“Mr. Lu!” Su Man rushed to the window, “Is it to pay for the dical fees? Let , let ! How much? Can I use a card?”

Saying this, she pulled out her wallet from her shoulder bag.

Lu Yuwen stopped her and said warmly, “No, it’s that my ID card is missing. I ca here to ask if I might have dropped it earlier when I paid the fees.”

Su Man froze and asked him, “Did you find the ID card?”

Lu Yuwen shook his head lightly and thought for a mont before saying, “It’s not in my wallet… Today, I took the train, and I vaguely recall putting it together with the ticket in my coat pocket. But now it’s not there, so I’m worried I dropped it sowhere on the way.”

“Then think carefully, where could it have fallen?” Su Man frowned, visibly worried for him. “Without an ID card, you can’t even stay at a hotel, and getting a temporary ID takes several days.”

Lu Yuwen felt troubled as well.

Losing identification while traveling is one of the most frustrating things; it makes everything inconvenient no matter what you do.

He thought it over and said to Su Man, “It might have fallen at the scene of the car accident. I’ll take a cab there later to check. Miss Su, don’t worry—it’s already so late, you should head back and rest early.”

Su Man replied imdiately, “You also know it’s so late—it’s definitely hard to get a cab now. I’ll drive you there to look for it!”

Lu Yuwen was slightly taken aback, instinctively glancing down at his watch. “But, it’s already almost 1 a.m…”

“Then let’s hurry!” Su Man, always quick-tempered, turned and walked out without waiting for him, her words rushing. “My car is parked right outside. Let’s go quickly—before soone picks it up. Are all your other belongings still there? Cash, train ticket, bank cards…”

Lu Yuwen: “…”

Su Man turned her head to look at him and urged, “Why aren’t you coming? What are you waiting for?”

Lu Yuwen hesitated for a mont before stepping forward to follow her.

—He didn’t like troubling others. Perhaps it had sothing to do with his upbringing; because he didn’t want to be the one others disliked, he always tried to maintain a “polite” distance from everyone around him.

All in all, he was a man with a strong sense of boundaries.

For instance, when he realized that Fang Zixin couldn’t truly accept his limp, he deliberately distanced himself, leaving her an “out” so she had an excuse and opportunity to initiate a breakup. That way, they could part ways without losing face.

A cripple—what right does he have to be picky? Leaving the initiative to her was the only kindness he could offer.

Fang Zixin was probably relieved too.

After all, she was already soone with a sensitive disposition.

The girl in front of him now… was entirely different.

As he looked at the back of the girl ahead, Lu Yuwen could sense that she ca from a well-off family and had grown up surrounded by love and care. Precisely because of this, she didn’t need to hide her emotions—one of those people whose displeasure would even show in the way their hair bristled when upset.

Su Man pulled open the car door with a sharp motion, climbed in, started the car, and called out to Lu Yuwen:

“Get in!”

She drove a military-green SUV.

The large vehicle, paired with its rugged color, stood out among the row of smaller cars. Su Man’s SUV exuded a tiger-like dominance.

It didn’t seem like sothing a young woman would drive.

But having witnessed her strength, Lu Yuwen thought that her driving such a car actually fit her well.

Lu Yuwen got into the car and buckled his seatbelt.

When he looked up, he noticed a work badge placed next to the GPS navigation system, its markings standing out clearly.

“You’re a traffic cop?” He asked, slightly surprised.

Su Man froze montarily, then reached out, grabbed the badge, threw it into the drawer, and slamd it shut!

Lu Yuwen: “…”

Su Man: “…”

She pressed her lips together, belatedly realizing that her reaction had been a bit excessive, her face showing an awkward expression.

Lu Yuwen observed her expression and slowly said, “Sorry… earlier, I was out of line.”
