Chapter 422: Chapter 419 – Return to Eldridge
After the majestic encounter with Azure Dragon, the three sisters continued their exploration deeper into the dinsional rift. The corridors of glossy pitch-black stone, smooth and cold as if polished by the hands of ti itself, stretched out before them. The War Sun Fla still burning brightly in Sylvia’s palm illuminated the path with pure white light that sharply contrasted with the absolute darkness around them. The air felt increasingly heavy and thick, as if every step pressed their souls with purer and more ancient dinsional power like the pressure of seawater at imasurable depths.
However, the farther they went, the clearer it beca that this area had strange, deliberately created limits.
Although the chamber was quite large and the corridors stretched like the living veins of a giant, they found no other significant rooms. There were no new altars, no more monsters appearing, and no gaps or branches leading to a deeper core of the rift. Every ti they tried to advance further, it felt as though an invisible barrier blocked their steps, a faint energy wall that made the air feel like thick, elastic rubber, preventing them from going any deeper.
Sylvia reached out and touched the barrier with her fingertips. There was a soft vibration that rejected her touch, like a new, very strong and living seal. The vibration was not only physical but also touched the soul, as if warning them that they were not yet permitted to go further.
"This doesn’t seem like an ordinary area," Sylvia said through telepathy, her voice remaining cold and calm despite her vigilance. "This place feels like a special chamber created solely to seal Azure Dragon. There are no other open paths. It’s as if the deeper area is deliberately sealed tightly."
Stacia tried to analyze it with her grimoire. The ancient pages rustled softly CRACKLE... CRACKLE... as she flipped through them quickly. Silver-purple light glowed at her fingertips, but she eventually shook her head with a serious expression. "You’re right. There’s an additional seal covering the deeper area. It’s very strong. Even my grimoire has difficulty reading it completely. This seal seems newer and more complex than the one binding Azure Dragon. Its structure is like a web of interconnected energy."
Alicia floated closer to the barrier, her spirit body slowly rotating in the air. Her silver hair flowed like disturbed smoke. "I feel it too. The energy behind this barrier is extrely strong, but tightly closed. It’s as if a layer was deliberately created to prevent anyone from entering. I tried touching it with my spirit... it feels like hitting an invisible wall of ice."
The three of them tried several tis to find even the smallest gap, attempting to break through with their power, and Stacia even cast several seal-revealing spells and opening runes. However, the result was the sa. The barrier did not budge in the slightest. It was as if the core area of this dinsional rift was deliberately hidden or sealed even deeper by a far higher power.
After feeling they had explored enough and found no new path, Sylvia finally stopped. She took a slow breath, and the War Sun Fla in her hand dimd slightly. "That’s enough. We won’t force it today. Let’s return to Azure Dragon and exit the rift."
They turned around and walked back to the large chamber where the sacred dragon was sealed. The War Sun Fla still shone brightly in Sylvia’s hand, illuminating the glossy black walls like dark mirrors.
Azure Dragon still lay silently with its eyes closed, its long body coiled like a living mountain bound by chains. The thick black chains continued to pulse with deep red runes, piercing and coiling around its body cruelly yet with perfect balance.
Sylvia stood before it and spoke through telepathy with sincere respect. "We have explored deeper, Azure Dragon. But we did not find the core area. It seems there is a new seal covering the even deeper part. The barrier is very strong even the three of us could not penetrate it."
The dragon was silent for a mont. Its golden eyes opened slowly, its gaze deep and wise, as if looking far into the future. It seed to be thinking, its long whiskers floating gently in the air like holy smoke.
"If that’s the case... then there is indeed a new seal covering that area," it replied with its majestic voice echoing in their minds. "That is good. It ans the seal is still intact. Perhaps the Avatar of Earth strengthened it after I was sealed here. You are not yet ready to see what lies beyond it. Not yet. The power there is not for those who are not yet ready."
Sylvia nodded slowly, accepting the explanation without protest or disappointnt. "We understand. Thank you for your guidance and your ti. We will return to the outside world now."
Azure Dragon nodded once more. Even that small movent made the chains on its body rattle loudly CLANK... CLANK...
"Go carefully, little girls. The power you gained here will bring heavier consequences in the future. But... the three of you have interesting potential. Perhaps one day we will et again under different circumstances not as a prisoner of a seal, but as allies."
Sylvia, Stacia, and Alicia bowed respectfully in unison. "Thank you, Azure Dragon. May your seal one day be released in the right way, and the world truly needs your presence."
The three of them turned and walked back the way they ca. As they passed through the thin dinsional mbrane once more, the world around them changed drastically. The absolute darkness vanished instantly, replaced by the more familiar purple mist. Their voices returned, their footsteps echoed again in the purple stone corridors, and even their breathing felt real once more.
And indeed, no more monsters respawned. The area they had cleared earlier remained quiet and silent. Whether the respawn cooldown was very long, or it had simply run out for a considerable ti, they did not know.
Sylvia felt they had done enough. "Let’s exit now. We’ve gained what we needed today, drastic level increases, new understanding of the ancient seals, and guidance from Azure Dragon."
The three of them continued their journey out of the dinsional rift with calm steps. As they stepped through the purple mist threshold and returned to the outside world, Stacia’s transformation magic activated once again. Their bodies changed back into three ordinary rchant girls black hair, silver-gray hair, and silver hair, wearing simple, unremarkable robes.
Outside the rift, the once heavily guarded area now felt empty and deserted. No guards remained. It seed all the city troops had been taken away by the paranoid ruler of Eldridge after the massive explosion the previous night. Only a few torches still burned dimly on wooden poles, and the cold night wind blew between the rocks.
Stacia did not waste ti. She took out her grimoire and began creating a new seal for the dinsional rift. The ancient pages rustled fiercely CRACKLE CRACKLE!!! as she chanted a long and complex spell. Silver-purple light flared brightly, forming an intricate and beautiful rune web around the rift’s entrance. This seal not only made the rift nearly invisible to ordinary eyes, but also added a stronger new barrier so that no one could easily enter.
"This seal will make the rift almost invisible and difficult for outsiders to access," Stacia said as she closed her grimoire softly. "At least for so ti. We can return anyti without worrying that soone will get ahead of us or disturb Azure Dragon’s seal."
Sylvia nodded in satisfaction, her eyes faintly glowing under her hood. "Good. Let’s return to the inn."
The three of them walked back to Eldridge with calm steps, like ordinary rchants returning after a day of trading. The city was still tense after the explosion the previous night. When they arrived at the "Black Stone Restaurant," the dining hall on the ground floor was already crowded with people eating dinner and talking loudly at the wooden tables.
They sat at the sa corner table as before. The aroma of thick soup, freshly baked warm bread, and spiced grilled at filled the air. Around them, the conversations of rchants and miners could be heard clearly and emotionally.
"...That massive explosion outside the city last night was insane!" said a miner loudly while tapping his beer mug. "A huge black-and-white mushroom cloud! The city ruler panicked imdiately and took all the troops there. He said he was afraid enemies were attacking the dinsional rift. He even shouted from the palace balcony!"
His companion laughed cynically while chewing at. "What a coward. He’s afraid of losing his source of wealth. Now the rift is almost completely unguarded. If he hadn’t taken all the troops, maybe we could sneak in quietly and take so minerals for ourselves."
A rchant at the next table chid in with a low voice. "But strangely, after that explosion, there were no signs of further attacks. It was like it was just a diversion. The city ruler is even more paranoid now. He said he’ll double the guards starting tomorrow. So of the forced miners have already started fleeing because they’re scared."
Sylvia, Stacia, and Alicia ate calmly, listening to all the conversations without their expressions changing in the slightest. Stacia smiled faintly behind her bowl of soup, her voice only audible to her two sisters.
"It seems our diversion worked perfectly."
Alicia nodded while carefully sipping her weak beer. "And now the rift is almost unguarded. The seal I made earlier will also make it even harder for ordinary people to find."
Sylvia sipped her black tea elegantly, her eyes cold but satisfied. "Good. Tomorrow we’ll return to the rift more calmly. For tonight... let’s rest well. We’ve gained a lot today."
They finished their dinner leisurely, as if they were rely three ordinary rchant girls listening to city gossip. Around them, people continued talking about the mysterious explosion, the cowardly city ruler, and their growing fear of Eldridge’s uncertain future.
Outside the inn window, the cold mountain night wind blew, carrying the scent of the forest and damp soil.
