The fishing rod maintenance was done, and the car was fixed as well. I have to say, the folks at Dusk Cathedral were really impressive. When I got to the storage, I opened the locker and found that it had beco double-sided: one side was empty, and the other was filled with stuff.
The empty side was the previous fixed one, right? It was as if the storage capacity had doubled. So, was this 1 rit point not wasted?
Think about that 200 square ter room worth 1 rit point. Although it needed to be renewed every ten years, its area was way larger than the storage locker. The difference was that this one could be used as a coordinate, but the room couldn’t. That place wasn’t fixed—it was just for my personal use.
"I’ll start using it. This isn’t bad." After closing the locker door at the storage, I thought that starting to use it ant that there wouldn’t be too much chaos in the future; things wouldn’t be piled up haphazardly anymore. This investnt was decent in the long run. Investing more ant I could solve so problems more promptly in the future, based on my needs.
I arranged what I needed to take with . Like the equipnt supported by the rich lady, so of it had all been moved to my personal room, and the stuff wouldn’t go bad there. I’d sort it out properly later and then use it if needed.
After organizing the other stuff, like so books, I went online to place an order for many of those expensive dical books.
"I’m heading out." After giving Prioress Tia a heads up, I left Dusk Cathedral, only to be stopped by the traffic police.
The reason was that minors were prohibited from riding motorcycles, ah... well...
I looked at my palm and then at the bike I was seated on, and reluctantly called Ahn Qi. When the traffic police left, they gave strange looks, mostly because they didn’t really believe I was an adult yet.
Even with a babyface, my build didn’t look the part. But since the order had co from above and the bike did have the Ahn family’s emblem on it, there was nothing much to dispute.
"Oh my god, how did you turn out like this??" Katrina’s eyes widened as she looked at the young long-haired version of , covering her mouth in disbelief: "Were you cursed by soone?"
She tried to use Blessing Magic to help dispel a curse, but undoubtedly failed. Right now, I was perfectly healthy.
"No, it’s not a curse." I took out the amulet made from serpent’s exuvia, and the situation was pretty much like this.
"Serpent’s exuvia?" The Forest Witch ca over, very interested in my explanation. I produced sothing that included my own shed skin.
Eileena pinched a piece of the grayish-white exuvia: "It does have a faint circling power, but it’s clearly different from the serpent’s exuvia."
"I’m not a serpent."
Eileena continued, looking at the calm Katrina: "Do you now need to slowly grow back? That would take years, right?"
I shook my head: "Probably not. I should be back to normal in a few months. I’ve been growing exceptionally fast recently, especially my hair."
I showed her a big bunch of hair.
Don’t doubt a witch’s resourcefulness with materials. They can turn anything weird into sothing unusual, and hair, of course, was useful to them.
"I sense a transcendental force in it." Eileena looked at the hair I presented, saying confidently. In her and Katrina’s view, the hair I produced had a hint of ’radiance’ on it.
"First, make a al, and put extra spice in my portion, please. While eating, I’ll talk slowly. My spice craving is strong."
In a post-apocalyptic martial arts world, there was not much good food. When Demon Flower was still around, I munched on dry rations, instant noodles, and also gnawed on the flesh of mutated beasts. From the casual past before I beca a Hunter, it’s beco even more... casual now.
As for the food that entered my mouth, as long as it wasn’t human flesh, anything else edible went. So think about it - in that kind of world, gnawing on at that could cause mutations, probably not many would do it.
Even after Demon Flower was eradicated, I hadn’t tasted anything nice. Normal animals were hard to find, mutated beast at was edible but hard to process, Lin Yaoyao and the others could cook, but it was only ordinary fare.
Qi Xiangyun’s father was practically the ’mayor’; before any trouble arose, she never needed to cook. Liu Hongzhao ca from a well-off family before her family’s crisis, so she similarly didn’t need to worry about cooking. Lin Yaoyao’s family was average, but not so poor that she had to fend for herself.
She knew how to cook but was never really imrsed in it; most other tis, it was her mother who cooked, and occasionally her father would take her to the town’s restaurant for a treat.
All this made want to have so good food after coming back. Heavy oil, heavy salt, heavy spice—I couldn’t skimp on any of it. In the past, when I was still normal, I had to care about my health. Now? Eat whatever I want.
At the dining table, I even felt like a glutton, yet this al was the most enjoyable one I’d had in a while. After eating, my whole being felt a bit floaty, my mood lifted, and telling stories beca much smoother.
"Another end-of-the-world scenario? And those people are just despicable," exclaid Katrina after hearing Zheng Yichen’s account. She couldn’t fathom how many had died due to their actions of causing an apocalyptic crisis just to annex a world, but she was certain that such deaths were far worse than the Black Death.
By comparison, the problems her own world faced seed relatively mild. It was rely that her world’s ’resource pool’ had been breached, leading to a rebalancing of resources with other worlds. Paradoxically, this had brought additional benefits to her world, and indeed, the level of her world had risen.
There hadn’t been any widespread deaths either.
"In any case, the issue has been resolved now. The real trouble this ti was the Supre Demon within that world," Zheng Yichen reminisced about his battle with the Battle Maniac Asura—this ti, he had minimal contact with the Boundary Breaker, save for one opportunist who had tried to ambush him. Upon realizing sothing was amiss and attempting to flee, Zheng Yichen had pursued and, after taking a bullet, managed to kill the would-be assailant.
Snipers, after all, are always resented. If you spot one and don’t take them out, you won’t have peace of mind even while eating or drinking.
"Are those three girls really okay in their own world?" Katrina asked, referring to Qi Xiangyun and the others. She felt that since they were girls who hadn’t even reached adulthood, and were in a world undergoing apocalyptic changes, it would’ve been acceptable for Zheng Yichen to bring them back. At least in this world, this city, despite being a high-frequency alien phenonon zone, everything else was quite normal.
During Zheng Yichen’s absence, she had encountered five or six such phenona herself, always keeping her distance and watching from afar without getting too close.
Moreover, the frequency at which she encountered such phenona was along her usual routes of daily life. If she ventured further, she’s likely to encounter even more.
"...We can’t just bring back everyone we et," Zheng Yichen shook his head: "They each have their own thoughts."
Taking soone into a normal world wasn’t impossible, but Qi Xiangyun wanted to rebuild the Qi Family Town in her world—what would be the point of reconstruction in his? Liu Hongzhao sought revenge against the Supre Demon, while Lin Yaoyao wanted to find her parents and restore them.
Plus, they all felt a sense of belonging to their own world.
"We can still keep in touch through the storage facility."
Having finished that topic, they moved on to the issue of the Supre Demon, which the two witches were very interested in. They had enhanced their powers by studying the knowledge provided by the fire dragon and could now conduct more advanced research on magic.
Katrina was sowhat disappointed that the amulets she had crafted seed to have little effect. The amulets, created with Blessing Magic and refuge magic, didn’t help Zheng Yichen much. The amulets’ protective qualities were lacking in physical defense and insufficient against the red filants released by the Demon Flower.
The consolation was that they were fairly effective against ntal attacks, protecting the bearer from remote invasions by the Supre Demon into their dreams—though the Supre Demon could still affect people in other special ways.
Not versed in spells, Zheng Yichen couldn’t yet perceive these issues; rely having strong perceptive abilities wasn’t enough to handle all problems.
If re passive perception was enough to counteract all spells, what use would the Supre Demon have for spells?
One might as well rely on innate talent alone. Spells were simply a ans to enhance the use of that talent. His perception might be strong, but the Supre Demon’s was no less so. Assisted by spells, it was hardly surprising that the phantoms lurking around Liu Hongzhao went undetected by him.
"I’ll refine the amulets," she stated.
"There’s no need to rush. Just take it step by step. Take a look at these books," suggested Zheng Yichen, placing the books he brought back on a cleaned table. In addition to books related to martial arts inner power, there were also books on spells.
"Martial arts...?" Katrina held a book and mimicked so moves in the air, "Seems like quite potent combat techniques?"
She thought of so Knightly combat skills.
Watching Katrina gesture whimsically in the air, Zheng Yichen suddenly grew curious. What would it look like for a witch to use martial arts in a fight? Could she beco like a white robe berserker mage if she learned well?
"You could try learning these too if possible. It’s good for fortifying the body and maintaining health."
He didn’t ntion the primary martial arts focused on combat, but there were plenty dedicated to health nourishnt in the collection, similar to eternal youth techniques. Yet in Qi Xiangyun’s world, the human life span was capped at three hundred years.
These martial arts could maintain health but had their limits, at best allowing people to maintain their youth longer and keep their bodies in good shape. After a couple of centuries, one could still have children or fight with the vigor of younger folks.
These martial arts techniques were dug out from schools that were destroyed by disasters, secrets of those schools now unearthed. It was, in a way, an indirect continuation of their legacies after the complete annihilation of their mbers...
