“Ye Ye, how does Mom’s new hairstyle look?”

Ling Ning, beaming with excitent, walked over to her daughter, pointing at her freshly styled hair.

Ling Ye, who was typing away on her laptop in the living room, glanced up at her mom’s new look. Usually, her mom either wore her hair in a ponytail or left it loose, but now her silky, voluminous hair was styled into a neat braid that hung over one shoulder. It exuded a mature, homaker-like charm.

“It’s nice, but why the sudden change, Mom?” Ling Ye asked curiously.

“Well, my hairstyles are so basic—either a ponytail or just loose. So last night, I looked up so ideas online and found this style. Doesn’t it suit perfectly? Oh, and a lot of ani moms seem to have this hairstyle too!”

Ling Ye paused for a mont, her mom’s words clicking in her mind. She realized her mom was right—this hairstyle often appeared on ani moms. But wait... didn’t most ani moms with this hairstyle et tragic ends? Or, in less grim stories, their fates in spinoffs or fanfiction weren’t much better...

No, no, that’s just a trope. It’s not like that happens in real life, Ling Ye reassured herself.

“Mom, aren’t you working today?” Ling Ye asked, puzzled. She was used to her mom heading to work around this ti.

“Not today~ My schedule’s been pretty light lately, so I finally get to enjoy what’s left of sumr break,” Ling Ning said with a bright smile.

She had received a call from Qin Qing the night before, letting her know there wasn’t much work to do and advising her to take a break.

Ling Ye’s eyes lit up at this news. If her mom didn’t have work, they could spend the whole day together!

Noticing her daughter’s reaction, Ling Ning smiled gently and asked, “Ye Ye, is there anywhere you’d like to go?”

“Nope.”

Ling Ye shook her head firmly. Given the current weather, she had no desire to go out. Staying ho to write and watch ani sounded far more appealing. And if she could have so ice-cold cola or ice cream, that’d be perfect.

“Alright then, is there anything you’d like to eat?”

“Ice cream and cola! Oh, and maybe so chips and spicy snacks too!” Ling Ye said enthusiastically.

“Got it. I’ll go get those for you. Want to co with ?”

Without even turning her head, Ling Ye waved her hand dismissively. “Bye, Mom. Be quick!”

Ling Ye felt like she was turning into a complete hobody. Spending all day indoors writing and watching ani had beco her routine. The only thing that got her out of the house was when her friends asked her to practice guitar.

If it weren’t for her mom’s occasional nagging, she’d happily spend all day in bed.

“Alright, but don’t sit at the computer all day. Rember to move around a bit,” Ling Ning reminded her.

“Got it, Mom. You’re so naggy~”

Ling Ning shot her daughter a helpless look but said nothing. As long as Ling Ye didn’t slack off once school started, it wasn’t a big deal. She just didn’t want her daughter to turn into a certain lazy yellow-haired angel. At the very least, she hoped Ling Ye could manage a lifestyle similar to a certain stay-at-ho sister.

Considering how diligent her daughter was with her studies, Ling Ning wasn’t too worried. Just the other day, Ling Ye had asked her for help with so senior-year math problems.

Ling Ning suspected it wouldn’t be long before she couldn’t keep up with her daughter academically, a thought that made her feel a little lancholic.

As soon as Ling Ning left, Ling Ye sprang up from the couch. Her excitent was palpable, and the reason was simple: her mom had forgotten to do laundry last night, and she had also forgotten to “collect” the clothes.

Ling Ye didn’t hear the washing machine this morning, which ant her mom hadn’t done the laundry yet. This was a golden opportunity!

Grinning, she walked into the bathroom. Sure enough, the laundry basket still held the clothes from the previous night. Ling Ye rummaged through them casually until a pair of black lace panties ended up in her hands.

She froze, staring at the item in disbelief. If it weren’t for the size, she might have thought they were hers.

Since when does Mom wear sothing this bold?

She was thoroughly confused. Her mom didn’t have such daring pieces, and if Ling Ye had “borrowed” them, her mom would’ve definitely noticed.

Her feelings were akin to the joy of pulling an SSR in a gacha ga—only to realize it was soone else’s account.

Deep in thought, Ling Ye didn’t notice that her mom had returned.

“Oh no, I forgot to toss my clothes into the wash,” Ling Ning muttered as she re-entered the apartnt.

She had been waiting for the elevator when she rembered the clothes she’d left behind, so she quickly ca back.

The empty living room puzzled her—Ling Ye had been typing away at the computer just monts ago.

Curious, she walked toward the bathroom. There, she saw her daughter holding the black lace panties, an intense look of contemplation on her face.

“Ye Ye?”

Ling Ye froze, her brain short-circuiting. Her mom was supposed to be out shopping! How did she get back so quickly, and why hadn’t Ling Ye noticed?

“I-I just realized last night’s clothes hadn’t been washed yet. I was just about to put them in the wash! Yep, that’s it!” she said, forcing an air of calm while internally panicking.

“Really? Then why are you holding Mom’s panties?” Ling Ning asked, tilting her head in confusion.

“Huh?!” Ling Ye feigned shock. “These are yours? I thought they were mine that got stretched out from you wearing them!”

“What?!” Ling Ning sputtered, quickly waving her hands. “Why would I wear your panties? They’re so tight—way too uncomfortable... I an, no, I’d never wear them!”

Ling Ye’s eyes sharpened, and a mischievous smile crept onto her face. She felt like she’d just uncovered a scandalous secret.
