“Don’t you think this necklace suits perfectly?”

Ling Ning asked, pointing at the heart-shaped pendant hanging on her chest, her expression brimming with delight.

“You little brat, it’s just okay.”

Li Qian retorted, casting a quick glance at Ling Ning’s necklace. The heart-shaped pendant rested securely against her chest. From Li Qian’s perspective, it seed to hover over an abyss of endless allure.

She looked down at her own necklace, which was slightly larger. Together, the two pendants could form a complete heart. Although she felt like her wallet had been emptied, she couldn’t help but feel a subtle sense of happiness.

After all, this money was supposed to clear out her online shopping cart. Clearly, she was broken.

“You’re such a tsundere, aren’t you? Saying you wouldn’t buy it, but look, you did!” Ling Ning teased, her grin widening.

“You... you’re the tsundere here!” Li Qian snapped, flustered.

She had only bought the necklace because Ling Ning had clung to her like a koala, refusing to let go. She couldn’t shake her off (not that she wanted to) and had drawn the entire store’s attention to them. If she hadn’t bought it, Ling Ning would likely have kept hugging her.

Not that she minded the feeling, but if they had been sowhere less crowded, she might not have given in so easily.

But it didn’t matter now. She did like the necklace, after all.

“Look at that textbook tsundere response! You’re totally a tsundere,” Ling Ning said with mock seriousness.

If they weren’t still in the store, Li Qian would’ve unleashed her full fury on the little brat—pin her down and... and—no, it was too dangerous to think about.

“Ling Ning! Do you want to kill you?”

“I don’t believe you’d dare. Look at —I’m gorgeous, beloved by everyone. Could you really bring yourself to hurt ?”

“You’re just a pesky little brat!”

“But aren’t the brat and the b***h a perfect pair?”

Ling Ning’s casual remark suddenly felt oddly flirtatious.

Sure enough, Li Qian’s face turned bright red, the color spreading visibly as she stamred, “P-Pair?! Stop saying nonsense!”

Ling Ning chuckled, pleased with the reaction. “Anyway, since we’ve bought what we needed, let’s head out. If we stay any longer, I think the shop assistant might kick us out.”

“Huh?!”

It was only then that Li Qian realized they’d beco the center of attention again. Without a word, she grabbed Ling Ning’s hand and hurried out of the store.

She couldn’t understand how Ling Ning could remain so composed under so many watchful eyes. It was impressive, even enviable.

“If you wore a maid outfit and handed out flyers in the square, I bet you’d do better than ~”

“Huh?!”

Li Qian’s eyes widened. How did Ling Ning know what she was thinking? Could she read minds?

“Are you wondering if I can read your mind?”

“Wha—?!”

“That’s because you just said what you were thinking out loud, B***h~”

Li Qian froze, feeling utterly defeated. She thought she’d been outsmarted, but it turned out she’d just blurted her thoughts. At least Ling Ning hadn’t uncovered... other feelings.

When Li Qian suddenly fell silent, Ling Ning looked at her curiously. “What’s wrong? Feeling shy?”

“N-No way!”

Ling Ning pointed toward a nearby bubble tea shop. “Let’s take a break over there. We can enjoy the AC and grab sothing to drink.”

“Sure.”

“Why are you sitting next to , Little Brat? There’s plenty of space!” Li Qian said exasperatedly, staring at Ling Ning, who had decided to squeeze onto the sa sofa as her despite there being other seats.

“Because you’re softer than the sofa, B***h.”

Sipping her bubble tea and basking in the cool air of the shop, Ling Ning felt her drowsiness creeping back.

“Whatever...”

“I knew you were the best, B***h~”

Li Qian tensed as she felt Ling Ning’s head resting on her shoulder. She unconsciously straightened her posture, her face growing warm.

After a while, she bit her lip and hesitated before finally speaking. “Hey, Ling Ning, can I ask you sothing?”

“...”

“Ling Ning?!”

Turning her head, Li Qian realized Ling Ning had fallen asleep on her shoulder, her face peaceful, and even... drooling?!

Her first instinct was to wake Ling Ning, but her hand froze halfway.

“Never mind. I’ll let her sleep until she finishes her drink,” Li Qian thought, resigning herself to being a temporary pillow.

“Ugh~”

Ling Ning slowly opened her eyes, still groggy. She vaguely rembered drinking bubble tea before dozing off.

“Finally awake, Little Brat?”

Hearing Li Qian’s voice, Ling Ning turned to see she had been sleeping on Li Qian’s shoulder. Noticing the wet patch on Li Qian’s shirt, her eyes widened in surprise.

“Oh no, I drooled in my sleep? That’s so rare!”

“That’s what you’re focusing on?!” Li Qian exclaid, nearly in tears from frustration.

“Sorry, sorry! I’ve been so busy lately, I haven’t gotten enough rest. Thanks for letting nap, though. What ti is it?”

“It’s past 5 PM,” Li Qian said flatly. “How are you going to make up for my wasted afternoon? You got your nap, but I’ve just been sitting here doing nothing.”

“Wow, it’s that late already?”

“Enough talk. You’re treating to the new barbecue place on White Study Road. No excuses!”

“Wait, wasn’t that supposed to be your treat? How did it beco mine?” Ling Ning protested weakly.

But when Li Qian pointed to her drool-soaked shirt, Ling Ning fell silent. She had no argunt.

“Why didn’t you wake up earlier?”

“Huh?!” Li Qian hesitated, then blurted, “I was... too busy playing on my phone to notice the ti!”

She would never admit that she’d fallen asleep as well.

“Is that so?”

Ling Ning squinted at Li Qian, sensing she might not be telling the whole truth.

“Of course! Now let’s go—it’s getting late,” Li Qian said quickly, dodging further questions.
