A part of her had never left ho.

The truth echoed across the Crossroads of Infinity.

The lantern sea shimred softly.

The roads of becoming stood silent.

Even the ancient forces that had witnessed the birth of existence found themselves without words.

Because this mystery felt different.

Not cosmic.

Personal.

The Witness stared at the woman standing before her.

The face was identical.

The voice was identical.

Even the tiny expressions felt familiar.

Yet Maya knew she was not looking at herself.

Not completely.

The woman carried sothing the Witness had lost long ago.

Ordinary life.

The newcor smiled sadly.

"I wondered what you would beco."

Golden and silver light flickered around Maya.

"What are you?"

The question ca out softer than she intended.

The woman looked toward the distant glow of the Thinker.

Then toward the infinite gathering surrounding them.

Finally, she t Maya’s eyes.

"I am the path that stayed."

Silence followed.

The Witness felt mories stirring again.

Rain against glass.

Books stacked beside a bed.

Late nights writing stories no one would read.

Dreams about impossible horizons.

Dreams about saving people.

Dreams about becoming soone important.

Dreams that had once belonged to a normal girl.

The woman stepped closer.

Each movent caused fragnts of forgotten mories to awaken.

The first day of school.

A favorite song.

The sll of coffee in the morning.

Laughing at nothing with friends.

Tiny monts.

Small monts.

Human monts.

The Witness trembled.

She had crossed mysteries beyond counting.

She had spoken with Questions and Answers.

She had stood before the Origin itself.

Yet these mories struck deeper than all of them.

Because they reminded her what had been sacrificed.

Far away, beside the frozen lake, Lucas suddenly stopped walking.

A strange warmth filled his chest.

For an instant, he saw Maya sitting beneath a tree, writing in a notebook.

Not the Witness.

Not a cosmic bridge.

Just Maya.

The image vanished imdiately.

Yet tears ford in his eyes.

Because sohow it felt real.

Back at the Crossroads, the woman reached out her hand.

"I rember everything."

The Witness froze.

The woman nodded.

"The life you lived."

The lantern sea brightened.

"The life you lost."

The roads shimred.

"And the life you never had the chance to finish."

The words struck Maya harder than any cosmic revelation.

Because they carried no mystery.

Only truth.

The oldest Mystery watched silently.

The Journey remained still.

Even the Thinker’s distant light seed focused upon the eting.

The woman lowered her hand.

"There was a reason I ca."

Maya felt her heart tighten.

The sadness in the newcor’s eyes deepened.

"Sothing is changing."

The Crossroads darkened slightly.

The lantern sea flickered.

Far beyond the gathering, beyond the roads, beyond the horizons of convergence—

A subtle tremor moved through existence.

The Witness felt it imdiately.

Not danger.

Not destruction.

Absence.

As though sothing important was slowly disappearing.

The woman looked toward the distant light of the Thinker.

Then beyond it.

Toward places even the Thinker did not fully understand.

"When you beca the Witness," she whispered, "you connected stories."

The tremor spread.

The roads dimd.

The gathering grew silent.

"But sothing disconnected."

The Second Question brightened uneasily.

The Final Answer narrowed its gaze.

The oldest Mystery beca very still.

Because all of them felt it now.

A missing note in the song of existence.

A forgotten thread within the tapestry of becoming.

The woman turned back toward Maya.

Tears glimred in her eyes.

And for the first ti, fear entered her voice.

"If we don’t find it soon..."

The tremor echoed across infinite realities.

The lantern sea flickered violently.

And sowhere beyond every road and every horizon—

Sothing vanished.

The woman whispered the final words.

"...existence will forget how to dream."
