"...existence will forget how to dream."

The words lingered across eternity.

No one spoke.

The lantern sea dimd.

Millions of stories flickered weakly within their golden vessels.

For the first ti since the Convergence began, the future seed smaller.

Not broken.

Not destroyed.

Diminished.

The Witness stared at the woman who had once been the life she never lived.

The path that stayed.

The self that remained behind.

Maya felt a cold weight settle within her soul.

"How can dreaming disappear?"

The question escaped her before she realized she had spoken.

The woman looked toward the fading horizons.

Then toward the countless roads stretching through existence.

"Because dreaming was never permanent."

The Crossroads grew quieter.

Even the Journey listened.

The woman continued.

"Dreams are fragile."

A tremor moved through the lantern sea.

"They only survive when soone imagines what does not yet exist."

Far away, throughout infinite realities, subtle changes began appearing.

Children awoke unable to rember their dreams.

Artists stared at blank pages.

Inventors abandoned ideas before completing them.

Poets forgot the final lines of unwritten verses.

Small losses.

Tiny absences.

Yet together they ford sothing terrifying.

A pattern.

On Earth, Lucas felt it imdiately.

The following morning, he sat beside the frozen lake with a notebook resting on his knee.

Usually ideas ca easily.

Questions.

Possibilities.

Thoughts about Maya.

Today the page remained empty.

Not because he lacked inspiration.

Because he could no longer imagine what he wanted to write.

The realization frightened him.

Back beyond creation, the Thinker’s distant light flickered.

For the first ti since its appearance, uncertainty spread through the vast network of roads connected to it.

The oldest Mystery slowly raised its gaze.

"It has begun."

The Second Question brightened.

"Soone is stealing dreams?"

The oldest Mystery shook its head.

"No."

The answer surprised everyone.

The Final Answer stepped forward.

"Then what is happening?"

The oldest Mystery looked toward the darkening horizons.

Toward places even it struggled to perceive.

Then it spoke a truth older than stories.

"Dreams are being forgotten."

The lantern sea trembled violently.

A forgotten dream.

A forgotten possibility.

A forgotten future.

The Witness suddenly understood the danger.

Dreams were not rely fantasies.

They were beginnings.

Every story.

Every discovery.

Every act of courage.

Every impossible journey.

All had once existed as dreams.

Without dreams, existence would continue.

But it would never beco more than it already was.

The realization shook Maya deeply.

Then sothing happened.

One lantern near the edge of the sea went dark.

Not shattered.

Not extinguished.

Forgotten.

The light simply vanished.

The Keeper gasped.

The First Rembered rushed forward.

The lantern’s story could no longer be recalled.

No one rembered what it had contained.

Not even the Archive.

Silence spread across eternity.

The Witness stared in horror.

A dream had disappeared completely.

The woman beside her lowered her gaze.

"That was the first."

The roads darkened further.

The gathering of infinite stories beca uneasy.

Then, from sowhere beyond the fading horizons, a sound erged.

Soft.

Distant.

Almost impossible to hear.

A lullaby.

Ancient.

Gentle.

Sad.

The Thinker’s light brightened imdiately.

The oldest Mystery beca still.

The Journey turned toward the sound.

And the woman who had never left ho suddenly looked afraid.

Because she recognized it.

Maya saw the fear in her eyes.

"Who is singing?"

The woman hesitated.

Far beyond every road...

Far beyond every dream...

Far beyond every forgotten possibility...

The lullaby echoed once more.

And finally, she whispered the answer.

"The Dreamkeeper."

The lantern sea flickered.

The roads trembled.

And sowhere in the darkness beyond becoming—

The one who guarded all dreams was slowly falling asleep.
