At eight-thirty in the evening, Edward Stephens rushed over from the company.

He ca in a hurry, still carrying the chill of the night dew. Having dealt with the day’s accumulated work, he didn’t even have ti to eat dinner before coming over.

Daisy Ginger had just been helped by the nurse to go to the bathroom, and when she opened the door, she saw the man in a black trench coat coming in from the hallway.

"Let help," he said as he took off his trench coat, handed it to his assistant behind him, and then stepped forward to gently lift Daisy into his arms, carefully placing her back on the bed.

She had lost weight drastically, so much that she looked different. The layer of flesh she once had was gone; she appeared sowhat sickly and exuded a frail, skeletal thinness.

Resting against the bed, Daisy looked up at the tall man standing by her side. Their eyes t, and both were montarily enveloped by silence between breaths.

The rift between them was too vast to bridge in an instant, leaving them at a loss for words when face to face.

After an unknown length of ti, Daisy finally spoke softly, "Have you eaten?"

Edward was slightly taken aback and instinctively shook his head.

"There’s nothing much wrong here; you should go eat," she suggested.

He looked at her, his gaze profound, "Do you really want to avoid seeing that much?"

Daisy lowered her eyes, letting out a gentle sigh, "Aren’t you overthinking it?"

Snuggling into the duvet, she said wearily, "If you don’t want to eat, then be hungry. I’m going to sleep."

Edward was silent for a mont before making a call to his assistant, asking him to prepare dinner and bring it up later.

Soon, Edward’s assistant brought up the packed dinner.

Daisy still couldn’t eat solid food yet and was on nutritional IVs. Slling the steaming aroma of the food in the air, her previously placid stomach began to stir.

She felt sowhat hungry.

After eating for a while, Edward turned his head and noticed that at so point, Daisy, who was initially facing away from him, had opened her dark eyes and was watching him intently.

"..." Edward t her gaze for a mont, gently set down his chopsticks, walked over, and adjusted her blanket over her face, coaxing her, "You can’t eat just yet, I’ll bring you sothing tasty tomorrow, okay?"

"..." Daisy replied, "You could actually eat outside."

Rarely hearing her speak in such a wistful tone, Edward’s brow slightly raised, "Really that hungry?"

Lying on the bed, Daisy pursed her lips and whispered, "I’m hungry."

...

The nurse ca in just in ti to see Edward holding a bowl of seafood soup, about to carefully feed it to Daisy.

The usually gentle and sweet nurse montarily transford into a T-rex, not caring who Edward was, she chastised him fiercely, warning him not to feed such things to her patient.

Thoroughly scolded, Edward had no choice but to obediently eat his al under the nurse’s supervision and then personally dispose of the takeout box in the trash.

"You are not allowed to feed her anything tonight, understood?!"

The blonde, blue-eyed nurse stood before him, hands on her hips, seething with rage, almost pointing at his nose.

Edward turned his head, glanced at Daisy lying on the bed looking all innocent, and murmured in agreent, "... Understood."
