He is in Robert Stephens’ hands. Since Robert has personally co to warn him, Daisy Ginger is so weak now, unable to withstand any disturbance, he should listen.

Charlotte Smith was very compliant; upon hearing Edward Stephens’ words, she softly responded and watched him leave.

Not until the man’s figure disappeared from sight did Charlotte slowly co back to her senses and carefully push open Daisy Ginger’s room door.

When Daisy heard the door open, she lay on the bed and slowly opened her eyes. Without any emotion, she glanced at Charlotte and then acted as if she were air, never looking at her again.

Charlotte carefully walked over and sat on the sofa directly opposite Daisy Ginger’s sickbed.

The two won, in this pleasantly warm room, quietly remained silent.

Daisy Ginger had napped for a while.

She didn’t dream. When she woke up, she felt completely empty.

She stared blankly with her eyes open for a while, then heard Charlotte calling her na.

"Miss Ginger, Miss Ginger..."

The voice ca from afar to near, as she regained her focus and saw Charlotte standing before her, calling her.

"Miss Ginger, would you like to drink sothing..."

"Don’t co near ." Daisy’s voice was hoarse and rough, yet full of disgust, "Don’t co over."

Charlotte halted slightly, then silently retreated to the sofa.

She nodded calmly and said to Daisy, "If you’re thirsty, call , I’ll give you water."

Daisy seed to completely ignore what she said, or perhaps she didn’t want to pay attention to her at all. She reached out to press the bell, quickly resulting in a nurse coming in, who, under Daisy’s direction, assisted her to the bathroom.

After coming out, Daisy drank a little water and lay back down again.

"She’s deliberately ignoring her."

Charlotte’s mind surfaced with this thought.

She lightly furrowed her brow.

She considered she hadn’t offended her in any way, unsure why Daisy woke up with such ungrounded hostility toward her.

But since Daisy didn’t want her close, there was no need for her to ingratiate herself on cold shoulders. She quietly sat on the sofa until the sky gradually dimd; when the ti was about right, she slowly stood up and silently walked to the door. Her steps paused slightly; she said to Daisy, "The incident of jumping off the building greatly damaged the Stephens’ reputation. You better have the second young master continue to protect you like now; otherwise, the gentleman won’t be lenient with you."

With no movent behind, Charlotte uneasily pursed her lips, opened the door, and walked out.

Thinking of how Edward Stephens had reasoned with Robert Stephens for Daisy Ginger, even risking falling out with Robert, and how much pressure he endured just to have Robert let Daisy off lightly this ti.

Yet Daisy still remains indifferent.

In the gradually darkening ward, Daisy lay sideways on the bed, her eyes unseeing as she gazed at the moon rising outside.

If only she had been the one to die eight years earlier.

She thoughts.

Then she wouldn’t owe anyone, wouldn’t be sched upon, wouldn’t be resented, nor blad by anyone.

To die within the best dream would be better than being holess as she is now.

But now, she can no longer just die like this...

Daisy slowly curled up, trembling as she hugged her cold, painful body tightly, biting her lip.
