Chapter 653
The Wesley’s burglary was ntioned in the morning news. Although it didn’t cause a significant stir, it was enough to frighten the residents in the sa community.
As expected, the news about the incident quickly spread throughout the entire community.
On that day, residents in the community upgraded their security systems to prevent sothing like this from happening again.
Then ca the questioning of property managent.
The manager indignantly faced the cara, insisting that they did not neglect their duty, and that there were no abnormalities on the streets surrounding the Wesley’s ho. The burglars were just too technologically advanced.
Evelyn Thompson heard about the incident while having afternoon tea with a few wives.
Upon hearing the news, she put down her tea cup in surprise and asked, "Which family’s ho was broken into?"
"It’s the Wesleys in the neighbouring community. It seems that they are the only family with the surna Wesley in that community."
"The child seems to live alone and there’s no housekeepers or nannies in the house, so it’s no surprise their ho was burglarized."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn fully understood. It was Wanda Wesley’s house.
She imdiately stood up and left, instructing her driver to take her to the Wesley’s ho.
When she saw Wanda, she asked about the situation and then suggested, "Why don’t you stay with us for a few days? Aunt Evelyn can hire so people to upgrade your security system."
Evelyn couldn’t bear to see a child living alone. Every ti she saw her, she felt heartbroken.
She couldn’t imagine how it felt for a child, who hadn’t yet attended college, to live in such a large house alone.
And she couldn’t even bear to think of how Wanda must feel, seeing the joyful family next door each night.
Upon hearing Evelyn’s words, Wanda’s eyes widened in obvious excitent.
Imdiately after, though, it seed like she thought of sothing and the excitent in her eyes dimd.
She softly said, "No need, Aunt Evelyn. I have already had all the locks changed and surveillance caras installed. There won’t be any problems."
Seeing her reluctance, Evelyn didn’t push it.
Rembering sothing, Evelyn urgently asked her, "What was stolen?"
Wanda made a sound, her gaze briefly flitting to the vases on the shelf, then said, "Just two vases."
After thinking for a while, Evelyn still felt that it was not safe for a girl to live alone.
However, she wasn’t the child’s mother or a relative, so it wasn’t her place to interfere too much.
After a pleasant chat, she left.
Before departing, she told Wanda to visit them often.
"If there’s anything, give us a call. If you’re really scared, co and stay with us. You can keep Chlo-Chlo company."
Wanda smiled and said, "Thank you, Aunt Evelyn."
She respectfully bowed.
As Evelyn’s car drove away, she wiped the wet corners of her eyes.
For the first ti, she experienced a warmth similar to a mother’s love.
A thing, which she had always despised.
Yet in this mont, it had suddenly beco sothing she craved.
Her phone rang out of nowhere.
Her eyes instantly turned cold.
She didn’t answer, just turned it off.
Suddenly a voice sounded from behind her.
"Why did you allow a stranger into our house?"
She turned around and saw a woman standing not too far away.
The woman was still holding her phone to her ear.
Apparently, she hadn’t planned for Wanda to find her there.
Wanda curled her lips into a cold, emotionless smile: "Mrs. Wesley."
Winona Wesley’s face dropped instantly: "Quit with your snarky remarks! Who was that woman just now, that you bowed to her?"
Wanda ignored the topic, and said directly, "Please don’t appear in my sight in the future."
