Elena and Jas had never had children of their own throughout their entire lives. But now, seeing Cecilia, Elena couldn’t help but wish she could adopt her as a granddaughter on the spot.
Seeing her excited great-aunt, Cecilia was montarily lost in thought.
Ever since her mother married into the Morrison family, she rarely returned to her own family.
The image of her grandmother in her mory did bear a striking resemblance to this great-aunt.
"Great-aunt...?"
After double-checking with each other, it was confird that Elena was indeed Cecilia’s great-aunt.
Amidst her surprise, Cecilia also felt inexplicable warmth bubbling up in her heart.
Since then, Elena occasionally checked up on her through ssages. She replied politely but was also touched by this lovely great-aunt of hers.
One day, she suddenly received an invitation from Elena.
[I’ll host a belated welco party for you at Star City Hotel tonight.]
Cecilia hesitated for a mont before replying with [Okay.]
When she arrived at the hotel in the evening, she encountered Samuel right at the entrance.
Noticing her as well, Samuel imdiately blocked her path.
He had heard that the Mitchell family, which controlled the city’s construction business, was hosting a party here today. He ca to see if he could form a connection with them, but he never expected to et Cecilia here.
‘Just watch and see how I will wrap you around my fingers this ti.’
"Cecilia, it was my fault last ti; I didn’t think things through. Are you free today? I’d like to treat you to dinner."
After his previous failure, he decided to heed his grandmother’s advice. He planned to take things slowly, starting off with small gestures.
Although he was unwilling in his heart, he still followed the plan.
Cecilia frowned, barely hiding the dislike she had for him.
"Move aside, I’m busy."
Despite that, he continued to pester her.
"Cecilia, maybe you misunderstood my intentions. I just want to take you out for dinner."
She looked at him with amusent and disdain, snorting coldly.
"Not interested."
Seeing her cold expression, Samuel was fuming inside.
‘If it weren’t for your inheritance and the funds, I wouldn’t have even bothered inviting you out to dinner. Just wait and see; once I win you over, I’ll teach you a good lesson!’
Putting aside the thoughts in his mind, he managed to keep a smile on his face.
"Cecilia, I know I’ve hurt you deeply before. Please give a chance to make it up to you. If you want, you can bring your daughter too. I’ll cherish her like my own child."
Cecilia felt so disgusted that she wanted to throw up. Where did this man get his stupid confidence?
Just as she was about to retort, she heard Sophie’s loud voice echo from behind.
"Her child is a bastard—your real, biological one is the one I have!”
Turning around, Cecilia saw Sophie, Frank, and Mariah striding toward her nacingly.
She frowned, wondering what she would need to do just so these people would stop pestering her.
anwhile, at the elevators.
Alex was escorted here by Butler Edwin to et Elena along with Cecilia since he had overslept this afternoon.
His great-grandmother, Elena, had frequently been calling him "my dear little great-grandson" through the phone calls, which made him a bit shy.
There were two elevators in the hotel, both facing each other.
The doors of the two elevators opened simultaneously. Steven and Emma stepped out of one, whilst Alex ca out of the other.
Emma was the first to notice her brother and let out a squeal.
"Ah!"
Steven imdiately turned to her with a concerned look.
"What’s wrong?"
Her sudden shout made Alex notice the pair in the opposite elevator, quickly mashing the button to go down.
Relieved that her brother’s crisis was averted, Emma sighed deeply.
"Nothing, Daddy. I just don’t feel like joining you for dinner. Can I wait downstairs for you instead?"
Although he initially wanted to refuse, Steven couldn’t resist her pleading eyes and nodded reluctantly.
"Don’t stay downstairs for too long."
Emma cheered, "Yay!"
She gave Steven a big kiss on the cheek and pushed him out of the elevator, leaving him to shake his head in helpless amusent.
As the elevator went down, she walked out and saw Alex already waiting for her.
"Brother!"
After making sure no one was around, the two kids snuck out through the back door and into the café across the street.
They didn’t pay attention to their mother, who was currently in a stalemate with Samuel and the Morrisons at the main entrance.
At this mont, Sophie furiously stord up to Cecilia with venomous eyes.
Cecilia snorted. "Stop being ridiculous. Step aside."
Sophie raised her chin defiantly.
"I’m warning you, Cecilia. The Mitchell family is here today; Samuel and I are having dinner here to discuss business with them. When the deal is over, you won’t have a place in Star City anymore. You will be running back abroad with your tail tucked between your legs!"
At that ti, a commanding voice cut through the scene.
"Is that so? I don’t recall making any arrangents to discuss business with you."
Everyone turned to look around. It was Elena and Jas.
