There was a slight surprise in Cecilia’s eyes, but she quickly returned to normal.
"Sorry, there’s no one here by the na you’re looking for."
Steven stared at her closely, trying to find any blunders in her face.
Unfortunately, there was none.
"What’s your relationship with Doctor Evan?"
Riane was the only person capable of making Evan behave so oddly. Even Steven, who usually paid no attention to gossip, was well aware of this.
Cecilia raised an eyebrow, a playful look in her eyes.
"Mr. Lawrence, I believe my personal matters are none of your concern, are they?
"You care so much about my personal life... could it be that you...”
She took a step forward, reaching out her finger toward Steven’s chin.
But just before she could touch it, she pulled away and instead twirled her own hair.
Steven frowned, falling into deep doubt.
‘This woman is so frivolous, there’s no way she could be Riane.’ Was he overthinking it?
"My apologies."
With that, he turned to leave. Just then, Zane suddenly received a ssage and was shocked.
"Sir, Madam Lawrence has fallen into a coma! She’s in critical condition!"
Steven was montarily flustered. He thought for a mont before turning back to Cecilia.
"Co with to see my Grandma."
The doctor had said that if Marianne fell into another coma, it would be life-threatening. Her only wish was to see Riane, but he had yet to find her.
Whether or not this woman was Riane, she was the closest to Riane he’d found so far. Her performance on the stage before had almost convinced him, so it’d be best to just have her play the role and leave no regrets for Marianne.
Cecilia shrugged. "Why should I? I don’t think I have any duty to do that."
At this mont, Alex was hiding behind the door and eavesdropping on his parents’ conversation, worried about great-grandma Marianne a lot.
Hearing Cecilia’s words, he quickly sent her an anonymous ssage.
[Your son has ties with the Lawrences!]
He hoped she would agree to see Marianne.
Cecilia’s eyes turned cold when she saw the ssage. Anonymous ssage again! It felt like this person was right beside her.
However, he must be skilled if he could observe her every move without raising her suspicions. His words might be credible.
This was also the first ti she saw Steven so panicked; it seed Marianne was truly important to him.
Thinking of this, she changed her tune.
"Alright."
A trace of joy flashed in Steven’s eyes, but he paused and spoke again, "What are your terms?"
He didn’t want to owe anyone, especially not Cecilia.
Cecilia pondered for a mont.
"The condition is that you help find soone."
He was puzzled. "Who?"
"I’ll tell you when the ti cos."
She naturally wanted him to help her find her son. She had seen his capabilities in Star City over the past few days. Instead of searching blindly on her own, working together with him would be better.
On the other hand, Steven didn’t press further. Though he disliked being manipulated, nothing was more important than completing Marianne’s final wish right now.
The group quickly rushed to the ergency room.
After a few hours, Evan ca out.
"The patient is now brain-dead and has been moved to the ICU. anwhile, I can research further into throat cancer. As long as the technical issues in throat cancer can be solved, there might be hope for the lady."
Steven had a rare look of vulnerability as he heard this news.
Then, an elderly couple hurried in.
It was Jas Mitchell and his wife, Elena Mitchell.
Elena had been Marianne’s longti friend. The Mitchells and the Lawrences were both prominent, long-established families in the city.
After hearing about Marianne’s condition, Elena could only quietly console Steven.
"Now, all we can do is wait for Doctor Evan’s research. God bless her, Marianne will surely make it."
Steven nodded.
Elena looked up and saw the strikingly beautiful Cecilia.
Why was this face so familiar?
After everyone had left, Elena couldn’t stop thinking of Cecilia’s face while in the ward.
She asked Steven, "Steven, what is the na of that girl today?"
Steven wasn’t sure why Elena was interested in Cecilia.
"Cecilia Morrison."
Upon hearing the answer, Elena paused.
‘Her surna is Morrison, so I guess it’s not her...’
‘But that face...’
She pulled out her phone and opened an album. The mont she saw a face—one that looked so much like Cecilia—she made up her mind and said, "Steven, help look into Cecilia. The more details, the better."
Jas was puzzled and couldn’t help but ask.
"Elena, what is it? Is there sothing wrong with this girl?"
Elena shook her head.
"That girl might be my sister’s granddaughter!"
It turned out that Elena’s sister was Cecilia’s grandmother. Due to difficult tis in the past, they lost contact during Lilian’s generation. All they knew was her sister had a child nad Lilian Walton. After searching for Lilian for a long ti, they only found out she had passed away and left behind a daughter.
And to her surprise, that daughter turned out to be Cecilia.
After Steven handed over all the information he had on Cecilia to Elena, the latter read through it while tears unknowingly filled her eyes.
"It’s really her... I’ve finally found her."
Having confird it, Elena and Jas went to Alex’s ward and found Cecilia there.
Cecilia was slightly surprised, not knowing why they were looking for her.
"Is there sothing I can do for you?"
Elena stared at Cecilia for a long ti before tentatively asking, "Is your mother’s last na Walton?"
Cecilia was puzzled but nodded at the friendly-looking Elena.
"Is her na Lilian Walton?"
She replied, "Yes, why?"
Elena suddenly beca emotional.
"Sweetheart, I’m your great aunt!"
