Kyoto — a certain well-known pleasure house.

An old man with a white beard and a monocle, completely ignoring the protests of the Valkyrie Rossweisse behind him, was enthusiastically groping the young woman in his arms.

Sitting across from him was none other than the infamous Governor-General of the Fallen Angels, currently holding a flask of sake and cheerfully pouring drinks for Issei and the others.

Even though Rias and Issei had repeatedly insisted that they were underage and couldn't drink, Azazel waved it off with a grin, declaring that human rules didn't apply to devils or fallen angels.

After all, for beings like them, age was practically aningless.

The reason Odin and the others had co to Kyoto in the first place was mainly to investigate Ren Kuroda's background and assess the strength of the yokai faction.

As for Rias and her group, they were essentially just along for the ride.

With the upcoming "Rating Ga" battles between the new generation of devils approaching, Rias had brought her peerage to Kyoto—a famous tourist destination—to relax.

And as a city renowned for its yokai, Kyoto also intrigued her personally. In a sense, it could even be considered Ren's "ho turf."

Odin and Azazel hadn't bothered to hide their presence, so naturally, the yokai of Kyoto were well aware of their arrival.

With Yasaka and Kunou currently away from Kyoto, the local yokai forces, though still powerful, were effectively leaderless.

Faced with the sudden visit of two such high-profile figures, the Kyoto yokai could only receive them with extre caution, afraid of making even the slightest mistake.

Ren's reputation in Tokyo had only spread among a small number of top-tier figures. Even the highest-ranking devil families in the Underworld weren't fully aware of it—let alone the yokai in distant Kyoto.

Compared to other mythological factions around the world, the yokai faction was relatively weakened. They feared that any misstep in hosting Odin and Azazel might provoke retaliation from the Norse gods or the fallen angels.

Thus, in Yasaka's absence, the Kyoto yokai found themselves walking on thin ice.

But as it often goes—the more you fear sothing, the more likely it is to happen.

After obtaining Odin's whereabouts from the Khaos Brigade, Loki personally led two of his children and descended upon Kyoto.

The Demon Wolf Fenrir followed Loki's orders without question.

As for Jörmungandr, he had originally refused. All he wanted was to stay in the ocean and sleep peacefully.

Unfortunately for him, Loki and Fenrir showed up at his doorstep, first attempting to persuade him with emotional appeals and "family bonding."

When that didn't work… they simply resorted to force.

In the end, even as one of the Five Dragon Kings, Jörmungandr couldn't resist the combined "love and care" of his father and brother—and was dragged into Loki's camp.

The clear blue skies above Kyoto suddenly darkened, as though eclipsed by an enormous shadow. In a matter of monts, the entire sky began to dim at a visible rate.

At first, people thought it was a rare solar eclipse.

But when they looked up—

They realized the thing blocking the sun wasn't a celestial body at all.

It was sothing far beyond human comprehension.

A dragon.

A legendary dragon truly existed—and its very arrival was nothing short of apocalyptic.

Jörmungandr's body was unimaginably विशाल, even among dragons ranking at the very top in size.

rely coiling above the clouds, its massive form was enough to blot out the sky entirely.

"ROOOOAAARRRR—!!!"

A thunderous dragon's roar shattered the heavens.

The people below, who had still been frozen in shock, finally snapped out of it and began fleeing for their lives.

From the rooftops of Kyoto's traditional buildings, figures began to erge—creatures with fox ears, cat ears, and all manner of bizarre forms, leaping into action and converging toward the dragon's location.

So individuals who had appeared to be ordinary guides or vendors suddenly sprouted massive crow-like wings from their backs and took to the skies.

"Contact Lady Yasaka imdiately! Kyoto is under attack by a powerful enemy! Everyone else—hold the line with until Lady Yasaka and Ren-sama return!"

High above the clouds, Jörmungandr observed that most of the ordinary humans had already fled after its roar, and finally began to act in earnest.

Its grand and conspicuous arrival—and that warning roar—had been intentional, ant to drive away the humans.

Unlike Loki, Jörmungandr didn't particularly enjoy indiscriminate slaughter, even if it didn't care much for humans either.

But now that the civilians were gone, it showed no such restraint toward the yokai gathered before it.

A massive magic circle ford in front of its gaping maw.

As magical energy surged—

A colossal torrent of water blasted downward from the sky!

Given Jörmungandr's enormous size, the scale of the attack was equally absurd.

The water column, nearly a hundred ters in radius, crashed down like a natural disaster.

The Tengu captain wanted to organize a defensive formation, but staring at the overwhelming force before him, he felt a crushing sense of helplessness.

This… was the power of a Dragon King.

On the sa level as their supre commander.

There was no way they could possibly stop it.

Just as the massive torrent descended, threatening to wipe out the gathered yokai and devastate Kyoto in a single strike—

A beam of light suddenly shot out from a shrine at the heart of the city.

The light expanded into a barrier across the sky, intercepting the descending torrent and completely blocking it.

Seeing the protective barrier appear, the Kyoto yokai erupted in relief.

The source of that light… was none other than the shrine where Yasaka resided.

"So this is the power left behind by the Nine-Tailed Fox, leader of the Kyoto yokai," Jörmungandr mused. "But how many of my attacks can it withstand?"

Yasaka had naturally left safeguards behind before departing Kyoto.

Against ordinary enemies, those asures would have been more than sufficient.

But Jörmungandr was her equal.

There was no way her residual power could hold him off for long.

With each impact from Jörmungandr, cracks began to spread across the barrier, accompanied by ominous sounds of strain.

The yokai of Kyoto grew increasingly anxious.

Then soone had an idea.

Odin and Azazel were still in Kyoto.

They quickly dispatched ssengers, hoping to request assistance from the two powerhouses.

But when they arrived at the famous pleasure house—

They discovered that the situation there was even more chaotic.

And when they saw who was fighting whom…

Only then did they realize—

From the very beginning, this attack hadn't been aid at them at all.

The Kyoto yokai… were nothing more than collateral damage.
