Upon hearing this, Shane Sinclair was completely certain that Evelyn Clayton had understood his implication from the very beginning.
Although Evelyn had said she didn’t misunderstand anything, Shane still felt a bit uneasy.
His original intention wasn’t this, nor was Pauline Warren’s, but the real chill in it, Shane couldn’t articulate.
Shane’s cheeks felt sowhat warm. He suppressed his accelerating heartbeat and lightly cleared his throat, attempting to maintain a usual calmness.
Feigning composure, he said, "It’s good you didn’t misunderstand, and of course, if you don’t want to emphasize the adopted daughter status, that’s fine too."
Evelyn Clayton was a person very sensitive to emotions; she imdiately sensed Shane’s unusual mood today.
However, intuition told Evelyn not to ask questions; the answer was sothing she couldn’t answer or didn’t want to face.
As they spoke, the car had already arrived at the company’s entrance.
To avoid any misunderstandings among the staff regarding Shane and Evelyn, even if Shane drove Evelyn to work together, they would stop far away and enter separately.
But today, since Evelyn’s identity was about to be announced, they were no longer avoiding it.
Shane’s Bentley stopped at the company’s main entrance, and the two got out of the car, one on each side, leaving the doorman dumbfounded.
When Shane handed the car key to the doorman, the latter didn’t even react at first, hurriedly catching it after a few seconds and running off to park the car, looking back repeatedly.
Evelyn walked into the company alongside Shane, and the receptionist girl was stunned for a mont but didn’t think much of it at first.
"Hello, Director Sinclair! Hello, Director Evelyn!" the receptionist girl greeted hurriedly.
The two nodded in sync, their coordinated action making the receptionist girl a bit dazed.
Watching the two top managers leave, the receptionist girl clicked her tongue and went back to her work.
Soon, the doorman rushed back in.
The doorman approached with a face full of curiosity: "Hey, do you know who Director Sinclair just arrived with?"
The receptionist girl didn’t concern herself, "I saw, ca in with Director Evelyn!"
"What I an is..." the doorman lowered his voice, "Director Evelyn ca with Director Sinclair in the sa car!"
The receptionist girl’s eyes widened: "Really?!"
Just monts ago, she saw the two and instinctively thought they just ran into each other.
"It’s true! Otherwise, when have you seen such a coincidence, those two arriving together?" The doorman had a smug look on his face, "I’ve always said, they must be a pair!"
The receptionist was taken aback, no longer having ti for the doorman, she hastily started spreading this fresh gossip through the company’s various group chats.
"Extra! Extra! Director Sinclair and Director Evelyn just arrived together in the sa car, walking into the company side by side! The doorman saw it with his own eyes, absolutely true!"
The group chat exploded, and this "news" spread across Apex in no ti.
Evelyn arrived at her departnt’s office entrance, seeing the PR and advertising people gathered together, talking animatedly.
"Is it true? Could the doorman be talking nonsense?"
"Who’d dare gossip about those two? Are you kidding?"
These two sentences rang precisely in Evelyn’s ears.
It was also at this ti that Evelyn stepped back, out of the automatic sliding glass doors, realizing only then that she had habitually gone to the wrong floor and departnt.
This was Laprite’s office floor, not the fashion design departnt’s.
Evelyn chuckled to herself and turned to leave.
"Hey, Boss!"
As Evelyn turned her head, a forr designer from the departnt hurriedly ca over to stop her.
