"Well..."
The maid looked troubled, "How about this, let ask our lady, may you wait for a mont? May I know your surna?"
Jas Grant maintained a courteous deanor, saying, "No need for pleasantries, my surna is Grant. Please go ahead, I’ll wait here."
The maid was relieved and hurried inside.
After a while, the maid returned, looking much more relaxed, and respectfully invited Jas Grant inside.
Upon entering the villa’s living room, a woman in her thirties was seated on the sofa. Upon seeing Jas Grant enter, she stood up, with a subtle hint of defensiveness in her eyes, yet remained polite.
"Mr. Grant, right? Please sit down." The woman stood up and shook hands with Jas Grant, "Are you a friend of my husband, Principal Shaw?"
Jas Grant was noncommittal and simply asked, "Why hasn’t Principal Shaw shown up?"
Mrs. Shaw’s eyes narrowed slightly, her defensiveness increasing, "How is it, Mr. Grant? Since you’re a friend of my husband, don’t you know where he’s gone?"
"If I knew, I wouldn’t have co to visit. Principal Shaw was unreachable all morning; doesn’t Mrs. Shaw know?"
Mrs. Shaw lowered her gaze, appearing briefly saddened, and then said calmly after a mont, "I rarely involve myself in his work affairs. He said he was going to school this morning, and I didn’t ask further."
After pausing, Mrs. Shaw continued, "I’ve already answered your question, but since my husband is not here, I’m afraid Mr. Grant has co for nothing. I genuinely apologize."
The other party issued a veiled invitation to leave, and in ordinary circumstances, not leaving would seem impolite.
But Jas Grant wasn’t here rely as a guest.
He stayed seated on the sofa, unmoving, as if oblivious to Mrs. Shaw’s unspoken implication.
"It wasn’t entirely for nothing." Jas Grant smiled lightly, "So matters can be discussed with Mrs. Shaw just the sa."
Mrs. Shaw’s expression changed slightly, "What do you an by that?"
Jas Grant replied calmly, "Did you know Principal Shaw was dismissed from Genesis Academy?"
Mrs. Shaw’s expression changed completely, "What did you say?"
"It seems Mrs. Shaw is unaware?" Jas Grant smirked slightly, "You two seem not like a married couple, but more like strangers living under the sa roof."
A touch of undefinable embarrassnt flickered across Mrs. Shaw’s eyes, "Mr. Grant, even if you’re a friend of my husband, this is our first eting. Is it appropriate for you to so directly discuss matters between and my husband?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the sound of footsteps descending the stairs echoed inside the villa.
Jas Grant instinctively looked over, seeing a four or five-year-old girl running down from upstairs, holding a rabbit doll.
The little girl was exceedingly cute, appearing about the sa age as Sharon; watching her, Jas Grant couldn’t help but feel softened.
"Mom..." The little girl seed to have just woken up, rubbing her sleepy eyes while snuggling up to Mrs. Shaw, "Mom, why aren’t you asleep yet?"
Mrs. Shaw’s face showed visible panic and glanced instinctively at Jas Grant, as if afraid he might frighten her child.
"Tina, Mommy is talking with a guest, why don’t you go back upstairs and sleep, okay?" Mrs. Shaw gently coaxed the child, then called the maid, "Take Tina ho."
The maid ca to take Tina upstairs, but Tina reluctantly released the maid’s hand, insisting on staying with Mrs. Shaw.
She then noticed Jas Grant sitting aside and shyly hid beside her mother, her big eyes blinking at Jas Grant.
After a while, the little girl suddenly said, "Uncle, are you a friend of my dad?"
