However, before Jas Grant could speak, Mrs. Shaw sharply reprimanded, "Tina! Don’t be rude! Hurry up and go back to sleep!"

"I’m not sleepy!" Tina was quite stubborn, clearly spoiled at ho, "Mom, you promised that when I woke up, I’d see Daddy! Where’s Daddy?"

Jas Grant leisurely glanced at Mrs. Shaw, his eyes deep and mysterious.

Mrs. Shaw noticed Jas’s gaze and realized she couldn’t hide anything anymore.

She hastily glanced at Jas, first going to pacify Tina.

Mrs. Shaw’s voice softened considerably, "Be good, Tina. You see, it’s still dark outside. What I ant was, you’ll have to sleep through the night, and when it’s daylight, you’ll be able to see Daddy, understood?"

Tina was half-convinced, "Really, Mom?"

"Yes, I’ve never lied to you," Mrs. Shaw forced a slight smile, "Go to sleep now, and by morning you’ll see Daddy."

Upon hearing this, Tina was finally led away by a servant, glancing back frequently as she went.

The living room was left with only Mrs. Shaw and Jas Grant.

Jas quietly stared at Mrs. Shaw, not pressing her, simply waiting for her to speak.

After a long pause, Mrs. Shaw finally spoke with difficulty, "Mr. Grant, if you truly are an old friend of my husband, I can only tell you that I really don’t know where he has gone."

Jas raised an eyebrow slightly, "It seems Mrs. Shaw knows that Principal Shaw’s departure was unusual. Yet, Mrs. Shaw dares not ask, dares not speak."

Closing her eyes, Mrs. Shaw exhaled deeply, "Yes."

"That strikes as strange," Jas’s voice was light, "Mrs. Shaw doesn’t even know that Principal Shaw was dismissed from his position, yet she knows his disappearance is not simple. Doesn’t this sound odd to you?"

Mrs. Shaw bit her lip, finally lowering her eyes in resignation, "I truly don’t know about this. I only know that a while ago when my husband returned ho, he was not in a good state. I only asked him a few questions, and he lost his temper, even at Tina. That’s when we had a huge fight, and I went back to my parents’ ho."

"Yesterday, he ca to apologize and brought the children and back. I originally thought he was just having a bad day at work, so I returned ho with him. But after we got back, he received a call and suddenly beca irritable again for so unknown reason. This morning I prepared breakfast for him, and he didn’t take a single bite, throwing it all away."

"We had another argunt, and he stord out. I was so upset that I wanted to take the kids and leave, but that’s when I received a call."

As Mrs. Shaw spoke, her expression turned fearful, "The person on the phone told to inform the family that my husband had gone on vacation."

Jas instinctively frowned, "And then?"

Logically, such a call shouldn’t be a big deal, right? What’s so unusual about going on vacation?

But Mrs. Shaw’s expression proved that this was not as simple as he initially thought.

Mrs. Shaw swallowed hard and said in a trembling voice, "Our family, my husband would never go on vacation. He detests such things. Even when the elder relatives requested, he would begrudge going. The only ti he went on a trip was earlier this year for Tina’s birthday, and it was only after she coaxed him relentlessly that he agreed."

"You see, how could soone like that suddenly decide to go on a trip by himself, inexplicably?"

Jas began to understand.

Mrs. Shaw sensed that sothing was off, which was why she felt afraid.

In her view, her husband must have been threatened by soone, which was why she returned to her parents’ ho with her children, even lying to them about seeing their father soon.

However, now there was still sothing that made Jas find the situation peculiar.
