"What?"
Quentin Hale didn’t react imdiately.
"It’s his way of chasing won. Is it just for show? Then he’s not very smart, is he?"
Understanding Evelyn Clayton’s aning, Quentin smiled helplessly, didn’t reply, and just turned to leave.
Evelyn assud she was right, took out her manuscript, and prepared for the final check.
After leaving Evelyn’s office, Quentin was on the phone while walking and accidentally bumped into soone.
"Ouch."
Amber Whitman, who was hit, held her arm and glared at Quentin, "What are you rushing for?"
"Sorry, Miss Whitman." Quentin imdiately hung up the phone, "Are you okay?"
"Forget it."
If it were soone else, Amber wouldn’t let it go so easily.
But Quentin was Jas Grant’s trusted aide; she couldn’t offend him casually.
"Are you here to see Director Grant? He’s busy now. Why don’t you head back first, and I’ll inform him when he’s done?"
"Is Jas in a eting? Then I’ll wait in his office. By the way, that woman isn’t there, is she?" Amber looked around, worried that Evelyn might suddenly appear from so corner.
"Are you referring to Director Clayton? She’s in her own office."
She had only been absent for a few days, and Evelyn already had her own office here!
Amber felt resentful but had to maintain her noble image as a high-class lady.
"I see, then it’s fine. You go ahead and get busy; I’ll wait myself. Anyway, Jas will co back once he’s done."
Quentin was about to refuse, but then he received a call from Jas, urging for docunts, so he had no choice but to let Amber be.
Following the direction Quentin ca from, Amber indeed saw an office with its lights on, though there was no naplate on the door.
Surely, it’s Evelyn inside!
Why doesn’t she have a dedicated place at The Grant Group, but Evelyn does?
Considering their families, the Whitmans are more closely tied with The Grant Group. How could Evelyn enter ahead?
Recalling the humiliation at the jewelry store last ti, she wished she could barge in and slap Evelyn twice right now.
But she couldn’t act rashly; if she did, Jas would never look at her again.
While worrying about what to do, there was a sign that the door might open.
Amber quickly hid behind the wall, praying Evelyn wouldn’t notice her.
Fortunately, Evelyn headed to the break room, which was in the opposite direction.
Once the footsteps faded, Amber erged from behind the wall and slipped into Evelyn’s office.
Evelyn reached the break room, just about to push the door open, when she heard gossiping inside.
"Have you seen Director Grant’s fiancée? She’s pretty good-looking."
"Hasn’t she and Director Sullivan annulled their engagent yet? How is she Director Grant’s fiancée already? Who knows who she’ll end up marrying."
"Choosing between Director Sullivan and Director Grant is tough. Why can’t such good things happen to ? I’m so jealous!"
"You’re not as resourceful as she is. I heard her dad even gave his heart to the old Director Grant, just to secure the engagent with Director Sullivan. Would your dad do that for you?"
The gossip grew increasingly outrageous, prompting Evelyn to push the door open and enter.
"Envious of ? Then go ask your dads to donate one too? Let’s trade."
They imdiately fell silent, awkwardly called her "Director Clayton," and hastily left the break room.
Evelyn sneered, her eyes glinting coldly.
She knew well that these weren’t the only ones gossiping behind her back!
She didn’t have ti to deal with each one; if they hadn’t ntioned her dad, she wouldn’t have bothered to show up.
After making her tea, she returned to her office, instantly noticing sothing was off.
