Evelyn Clayton arched her eyebrows, feigning impatience.
"You don’t need to tell . Even if your dad is forcing it, so what? It’s Jas Grant getting married, not your dad. If he doesn’t want to, who can really force him?"
"Evelyn, why don’t you believe..."
"Stop."
Evelyn interrupted Jasper Grant.
The impatience in her eyes grew stronger.
"Since we’ve broken up, there’s no chance of reconciliation, unless Jas goes into a monastery and severs all ties with the world now!"
After saying that, she stomped off in her high heels.
The Jacobs Family’s project was rushing to et the deadline, and the design departnt quickly submitted their first draft.
She was busy at full steam.
Quentin Hale put a pile of docunts in front of her: "Director Grant said to finish these. If they’re not done, lunch won’t be allowed."
The stack of docunts piled up like a mountain, taller than her by half a head.
Evelyn had reasons to suspect that Jas Grant was deliberately torturing her out of jealousy.
She wasn’t one to easily concede either, letting out a cold, sinister laugh, and directly printed a docunt.
On it, a few large words were deliberately printed in red —
"Labor Rights Protection Act."
"Take it to your Director Grant and tell him I won’t do it, unless he wants a fine."
With that, Evelyn didn’t even spare the stack of docunts a glance and headed straight to the restaurant downstairs for lunch.
Just as she placed her order, Matthew Sullivan, as if equipped with a detector, followed her scent and ca over.
"Evelyn, let join you for lunch. It’s been a while since we ate together."
He sat directly across from her, called the waiter, and started ordering dishes, acting like he was at ho.
After ordering, Matthew sat across from her, gazing at Evelyn with affectionate eyes.
Although internally displeased, Evelyn maintained a calm facade and looked away.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Jas Grant and Lynn Yates walking into the restaurant.
She raised an eyebrow, her gaze fixed on Lynn clinging to Jas’s arm, chatting and laughing intimately.
These two, so leisurely.
"Sit here."
Jas obviously saw them too, a faint smile at the corner of his eyes, directly having Lynn sit across from Evelyn.
He sat on the outside, lightly nudging her calf under the table with his toe.
She kicked back unceremoniously, her red lips mocking.
"What, Director Grant, having trouble with your eyes or legs? So many seats, yet you humble yourself to sit with us."
"Anywhere can be a seat to eat, this spot’s by the window, with a view. Lynn, relax."
Matthew scowled in disgust: "Jas Grant, are you doing this on purpose?"
Jas didn’t answer, deliberately rolling up his sleeves, exposing his arm, reaching over Lynn, as if he was holding her.
anwhile, Lynn subtly smiled and nodded, clearly showing a picture of the two being inseparably in love.
"Fine, as you wish."
Evelyn squinted her eyes.
The dishes she ordered arrived. She picked up a piece of beef slathered in chili, pretending to feed it to Matthew with a soft voice.
"Marcus, try this and see if it’s good."
The steak was covered with chili, gleaming with red oil, just looking at it was unbearable.
Matthew, who couldn’t handle spicy food, had his heart lt seeing her tender deanor.
He hesitated, then bit the bullet and took a big bite, the spicy flavor instantly flooding his mouth, turning his face red, yet forcing a satisfied smile.
"Anything fed by Evelyn tastes good."
In the next mont, the spiciness hit his stomach.
His expression turned exceedingly uncomfortable, muttering an apology as he rushed to the bathroom to vomit.
