"Why was he seen as a nerd?" Theo asked.
"He isn’t an Oga, but he’s very weak and wears huge glasses, so he’s isolated." She explained, ignoring the fact that he had interrupted her again.
"Oh. He’s one of those." He said, nodding in understanding.
"Yeah. Can I continue now?" She asked.
"Oh, yeah. I forgot you said I shouldn’t interrupt you."
"You sure did." She said, rolling her eyes. "So. I started training because I detest weakness."
Theo opened his mouth to say sothing but shut it when she gave him a stern look.
"I trained because I detest weakness and being an Oga ans I’m weak. So I wanted to change that, plus it was the only thing I did that made feel better and not too lonely.-"
"- It helps block away dark and self-degrading thoughts. You know that thing they say about an idle man being the devil’s workshop. I wasn’t idle, but nothing I did pushed away those thoughts except working out, so I capitalized on it. It made my days better than ever. What else do I tell you?" She asked, leaning back in her seat, blinking away mories that threatened to taint her good mood.
"So aside Kevin, you haven’t had any new friends?" Theo asked, deciding to go slow.
"Nop. I don’t think I wanted any. Kevin was okay for . He always knows when to call, and when not to. Things to say and things not to and the perfect tis to say them. Finding soone like that is very difficult. Besides no one approached , so yeah, I’m good." She said shrugging.
Theo studied her with a heavy heart, searching for so sign of sadness or regret or pain, but found none. She wasn’t joking when she said she detested weakness.
"And the training, you haven’t trained since you t us, but you haven’t been antsy or anything, why?" He asked.
"I believe you know the answer to that, Theo. If you don’t have any more questions, I could ask you." She said, folding her arms.
"Fine, I do. It’s just. It’s sad, Princess. Didn’t go to college because your parents couldn’t afford it, no friends because their too much of chickens to be with you and I’m sure you miss Kevin. Even though you’d never admit." He teased the last part, hoping it was going to make the weight of his other words lighter.
Bethany laughed at his last remark. "I do miss him, to so extent. I have no one to annoy now, or ask for advice or tell what movies to watch. I’m pretty sure if he was around, this wouldn’t be my first ti coming to this place, because I know he’d have dragged down here, no matter how many tis I threaten to chop off his precious balls." She said, bits of longing in her eyes.
"It’s okay to miss him. He seems like a good person. Where does he school?" Theo asked, feeling really sad for her, even though he knew that she telling him this was going to make her feel better.
"Here." She said plainly.
"Here? He schools in Eldrador?" Theo asked, giving her an incredulous look.
"Mmhm. Why are you looking at like that?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Because I’m wondering why you didn’t tell him you’d be in Eldrador. You guys could et up." He said like it was very obvious.
"Well, I.." She didn’t know what else to say. Honestly, she hadn’t thought of it. Maybe she was growing apart but she just didn’t rember.
"You didn’t rember did you?" Theo said, giving her a sad look, but amusent glinted in his eyes.
She shook her head in embarrassnt, her eyes on the table.
"It’s okay. You should tell him though. This town might look huge, but it’s a small one. You wouldn’t want him bumping into you just like that." Theo advised in a soft tone.
"I understand." She said, sighing. "We still have to talk about you." She said, giving him a pointed look.
"Alright. Ask away." He said chuckling, hoping she was going to ask basic questions.
"What made you want to be an executioner?" She asked at once, shocking him.
He couldn’t help but laugh out loud, bending over.
"are Why you laughing?" She asked confusion in her tone.
"I swear that wasn’t remotely the question I was expecting. You could’ve asked what my best color was, at least for a soft landing, Princess." He said, chuckling.
"Oh." She said flustered. "I didn’t know, I didn’t think. I just..asked." She said shrugging.
"It’s okay. I have answers. Just give a soft landing next ti, okay?" He said still smiling.
"Okay."
"Yeah." He said sighing. "What made want to be an executioner?" He muttered to himself.
"I don’t think I wanted to be one. I just beca one. Like the task just fell on . Tristan’s in charge of most of the pack businesses and handles the councils and all, while Troy handles coordination and I handle security. It’s just my thing. And being chief of security basically ans I’m an executioner so yeah.." He explained shrugging.
"But people see you as ruthless and all that. Doesn’t it affect you? Do you not feel bad?" She asked, not sure why she did, but she just felt it was the appropriate thing to do.
"Feel bad? Affect ? Princess, I’m soon to be Alpha, I’ve its blood in . Alpha’s don’t care about pleasing people, they lead, they dominate. If the people we lead decide to criticize and judge us then that’s their cup of tea. If they weren’t happy with the way we did things, they would have left by now, don’t you think?" Theo asked with arched eyebrows.
"Well, yeah. You’re right. But you didn’t say anything about the feelings." She pressed.
"Because it doesn’t matter what I feel, Princess. I don’t kill them because they were nice to others, do I?"
"No."
"Exactly. Besides, Tristan and Troy are way more ruthless than you can think. I’m just good at reading people and sensing energies, so I don’t kill for fun. Just because I have the na ’executioner’ doesn’t an my brothers don’t execute, My love."
