The atmosphere in the visiting common room radiated so much warmth, optimism, and a generally good feeling as the family and friends chatted euphorically.
Blaze gave a humorous version of his life in prison and how it took him days to adjust.
He was careful to leave out the attacks and even attempted murder which he dealt decisively with, even though it left an indelible scar on his lower back.
He knew Alia would freak out at the sight of the scar when he finally undressed before her. But he had the perfect antidote to take all her fears away.
After almost an hour of chatting and laughing their heart out. It was ti for them to retire to the hotel, back in the city.
"Do we have to go now?" Alia pouted, unwilling to stand up or let go of her husband.
"Not you, sweetie." Blaze nuzzled her on the side of the neck.
"Huh!" Maria stared at her son quizzically.
"Is it what I'm thinking?" Henry's eyes light up with excitent as they darted between Blaze and Alia.
"Yep!" Blaze chuckled.
"What!" Alia and Maria chorused.
"Nice!" Henry robbed both palms.
"I spoke with the chief warden and he said it was okay with my wife spending the night with ."
"Really!" Alia was elated and at the sa ti scared, both emotions reflected in her slightly alard expression.
"You want your wife to spend the night in a prison facility with you?" Maria was dumbfounded, her mouth hanging open.
"It's not bad as you put it, mom. She is safe with ." Blaze explained calmly, his reassuring hand stroking Alia's back.
"I'm not comfortable with this, son." Maria shook her head in disagreent. "I'm okay if they can allow you both to go out and spend ti in a hotel. But not here in a prison filled with hardened criminals who are all n with heightened testosterone. I won't allow my pregnant daughter to be exposed to such harm."
"Mom, I don't think they would allow Blaze out of this facility," Henry interjected, seeing through Maria's fears. "Moreover, I believe with Alia here, there would be extra security asures put in place by the prison security. Right, Blaze?"
"Exactly. I have already taken care of everything. Alia is safe with . And she won't be coming in contact with any criminal locked up in this facility during her stay. Moreover is just for this night. Please, mom."
Alia's heart was pounding in her ribcage as her gaze shifted from Blaze to Maria, who was still very reluctant to let her stay back.
"I want to stay, mom." Alia's voice was faint but audible enough for everyone to hear.
"Alia..."
"Mom wait ..." Alia stood up from her husband's lap to et her worried mother-in-law. "Please, mom. You know how much I miss him. I want to be with him. It's just for a night. Blaze will never let anything bad happen to . Trust him."
"What about you?" Maria sighed out loud. "Would you be comfortable sleeping in a prison cell with all the limited anities? It's going to be very strange for you. You won't be comfortable, especially in your condition."
"I don't mind mom. If Blaze can endure all of those things, I think I can manage for a night." Alia persisted, her determination subduing her initial fears. "I want to see where my husband spends his night every single day in here. I want to know what is happening in his head. I want to understand why he's not eating well and maybe encourage him to. But most importantly..." Alia lowered her voice so that only Maria could hear. "...I miss his touch."
Maria sighed again, shifting her gaze from Alia to her son. "Are you very sure she'll be safe in here with you?"
"One hundred percent sure, Mom. Cross my heart." Blaze gestured. "She'll be with all the ti and I won't let her co in contact with anyone except the prison guards that will be escorting us out."
"Fine." Maria exhaled defeatedly. "Henry and I will be here by 8:00 AM tomorrow to pick her up. Make sure she is safe at all tis. Do not even think of leaving her out of your site for even a second. Do you understand?" She pulled her right ear, widening her eyes as if she were talking to a stubborn child.
Henry chuckled at Maria's threatening expression.
"Yes, ma'am." Blaze was beaming from cheek to cheek, his glimring eyes on his wife who was equally smiling at him.
Maria pulled Alia to the far end of the room to advise her on the do's and don'ts of spending a night in a maximum prison facility, while Henry skidded over to Blaze.
"Hey man, for real, how are you holding up?"
"Taking one day at a ti, bro." Blaze exhaled, scratching his chin while wondering what his mother was whispering to Alia.
"Do you have any idea who was responsible for this?" Henry asked.
Blaze's gaze suddenly turned cold and vicious as he tilted his head to look at Henry.
"If I told you, you wouldn't believe ."
"Try ." Henry insisted, his expression equally vengeful.
Blaze moved closer to Henry, his voice low and tinged with a hint of venom.
"Matt Shawls in collaboration with an international arms and drugs syndicate, known as dusa."
"What! Alia's incarcerated uncle!" Henry's jaw dropped, his eyes almost popping out of its socket.
"The very sa one. But please, I don't want you connecting that bastard to my wife. As far as I'm concerned, Alia has nothing to do with that toxic family except for a few mbers." Blaze said between clenched jaws.
"I can't believe this."
"You wouldn't even believe if I told you that you guys were being followed by so assassins all the way from Salvine City."
"What!" Henry suddenly felt his throat turning dry as his heart threatened to leap out from his chest.
Blaze's side lips curled up in an evil smirk.
"Don't worry, they have been taken care of."
"I don't believe this. Now I understand the real reason behind the military escorts," Henry said, nodding his head.
"Those bastards are everywhere. They are bent on eliminating and anything attached to . This was the exact reason I didn't want Alia to co down here. If they ever got to her or my mom, then my life will be over."
"This is really disappointing. I thought spending ti behind bars would give that animal a change of perspective, not turn him into a hardened criminal, who would orchestrate such a level of manslaughter just to get to you."
"Now he and his cohorts have my full attention." Blaze's gaze narrowed, his eyes filled with a stormy darkness that terrified Henry. "They just pulled the last string of restraint on . This ti around, I'm sending them straight to hell on an express ride. There will be no rcy."
