The trio made their way to the bulletproof limo and within minutes, the sounds of blaring sirens announced their departure.
After almost forty minutes of driving, Alia's heart started hamring widely in her chest as the car finally ca to a halt. She looked out through the side window only to discover that they were packed outside the highly fortified prison facility.
The entire premises was covered in a blanket of white snow, except for the dominant tall grey building.
Alia watched as Captain Israel, who was on board one of the SUVs in front, climbed out of the car. He briskly made his way towards the gate where a uniford guard was already waiting.
"Wow, the security system here is intense. I bet there a lot of hardened criminals kept behind those iron gates." Alia noted in a quivering voice as she tried to remain calm even though she was a complete wreck within.
"It's always like that in a federal prison. But that shouldn't bother you. I don't think Blaze will be locked up with them." Maria replied, taking Alia's trembling hands into her.
"Are you all right my darling?"
Alia inhaled deeply and exhaled before shaking her head.
"Not really Mom. I can't help it but I'm so scared for Blaze."
"You don't have to be my darling." Maria pulled Alia into her arms and began stroking her hair. "He is fine. In a matter of minutes, you'll be seeing him and I'm sure you can't wait to et him."
Alia chuckled feverishly as she nodded.
"Now, I'm feeling jealous." Henry pouted animatedly, causing Maria and Alia to burst into laughter.
"I could call Sarah for you." Alia teased.
"Really! Because I could sure use the warmth of her silky voice in this cold region. The weather outside is chilly."
"You're such a love-sick puppy." Maria rolled her eyes still chuckling. She felt a little jerk pulling her backwards and said. "We are moving again."
"That's good news." Henry smiled.
"I can't wait to see him." Alia sat up again, gluing her eyes to the window while Maria watched in fascination.
Alia's childish behaviour reminded her of her younger self when she would always wait in anticipation anyti Presley was travelling back from a business eting outside the state.
After another five-minute drive into the prison facility, the car finally ca to a halt. Alia waited as the driver ca around and opened the door.
Harry ca down first, followed by Alia and then Maria.
All three were led by so prison security officer and Captain Israel to the visitor's reception.
At the visitor's reception, they were made to drop their phones, wallets, keys, and other personal belongings, along with any items deed prohibited. They were also thoroughly searched before they were certified green to go.
Afterwards, they were led through so narrow guards hallway to the prison visitation common room.
"Please, have your seat." The kind-natured male warden said, smiling politely, especially at Alia. "Mr Anderson will be with you in a minute."
Henry pulled out a chair for Alia to sit down while Maria pulled another chair beside her, both of them apprehensive.
Tears were already pulling at the corner of Alia's eyes as she scanned around the rectangular room filled with empty chairs and tables. She could tell they were being watched and monitored by security caras mounted at the top corners of the room.
The sound of a tal door opening followed by the muffled sound of approaching footsteps made Alia abruptly stand to her feet, her heart racing, and her body trembling.
When Blaze finally ca into view, the whole world suddenly stopped spinning as he beheld his beautiful wife after almost two months and a week of not seeing her.
The tears, Alia had been fighting to hold back fell freely, streaming down her flushed cheeks as she scanned him from head to toe, stunned at how much he had changed in such a short ti.
Running in slow motion across the room, Alia threw all caution to the wind as she jumped into her husband's outstretched arms holding him so tight and crying like a baby on his shoulder.
The prison guards who had escorted Blaze into the room quietly left to give him so ti alone with his family.
Maria couldn't hold back her own tears from falling as she also joined the couple wrapping her arms around them.
Henry stood by the side, occasionally wiping the tears escaping his eyes as he watched the magical family reunion.
"I'm so sorry, my love. I'm so sorry, mum. I disappointed you two." Blaze wept beside his mother and wife as he showered them with kisses, his heart bursting with so much joy.
"You don't have to be sorry, my son." Maria pulled away from Blaze wiping his tears with the back of a cardigan sleeve.
"You are not a disappointnt. I am proud of you anyti and any day and so is your father."
"Thanks, Mum."
Words failed Alia as she clung to Blaze like a fragile kitten in need of its owner's affection.
"My love..." Blaze turned his attention to his wife who was still crying in his arms. "...Please, stop crying. You know it's not good for our baby?"
Alia nodded her head, sniffing. She felt herself being lifted off the ground as Blaze carried her to a seat and sat down, cradling her like a baby in his arms.
Maria and Henry also ca closer to him and sat down beside him.
"Hey bro, it's good to see you." Henry nudged Blaze on the arm, forcing a smile.
"Hey! Thanks for taking care of my wife and mom, Henry."
"You don't have to thank . It's what brothers do. By the way, how are you managing over here? You look a bit trimd." Henry pointed out, looking a bit worried.
"I was going to say that. Are you not eating well? Are they not treating you well?" Maria asked, observing her son's sunken eyes.
"They are, mom. But you know there's no such place like ho, your delicious cooking or even my wife's tasty pasta."
Alia who had stopped crying, chuckled at Blaze's last statent.
"I thought you said my last pasta was overcooked." Alia's voice was a little raspy but soft.
"Right now, I'd rather eat a full plate of overcooked and even burnt pasta prepared by my baby than the best chef al on earth."
"Aww... How cute." Maria couldn't help admiring her children.
"We have to put that to a test. Alia, when Blaze gets released, serve him burnt and overcooked pasta." Henry smirked knowing how picky his friend was when it ca to his stomach.
"I could never serve my husband burnt food. He deserves only the best." Alia interjected, earning herself an appreciative kiss on the lips from her husband.
"You were saying?" Maria taunted Henry causing a ripple of laughter.
