Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Anything Goes

At this mont, Ding Wan’er’s heart was pounding madly. Was this the young man before her eyes truly him? The fiancé that her grandfather had ceaselessly ntioned since her childhood? Wan’er had been resisting the idea of this fiancé for many years. According to her own wishes, she wanted to find soone she truly liked and who liked her in return. All those years of rebellion from an early age had been in vain; her grandfather was not an old antique but the opposite, a very kind-hearted old man. He had always indulged her, loved her, and pampered her since she was small!

However, her grandfather was incredibly stubborn on this matter, simply unreasonable, even going so far as to say that even if he died, the marriage arrangent would still have to be carried out! Clearly, there was no possibility of calling off the marriage.

As Ding Wan’er thought about it, she stole a glance at Lin Feng. He was probably about one ter eighty in height, with a passable appearance, neither handso nor ugly. Well-proportioned and healthy in stature, he also exuded a determined temperant. Fairly speaking, although he wasn’t a handso boy, he looked more like a man than a pretty boy. At least, his appearance was acceptable. Was she really going to marry this man before her without rhy or reason, simply obeying that inexplicable marriage contract?...

Ah! What was she thinking about? Oh God, why was she even thinking about this? Ding Wan’er unprecedentedly found herself contemplating a man for the first ti, her lack of experience making her heart a ss. Inside, her mind was a tangled ss, without a hint of clarity, but above all, she was panic-stricken, panicking that her tranquil life would no longer exist because of this man...

Suddenly, Ding Wan’er thought of the letter in her hand. Had Lin Feng seen it? Her heart grew even more frantic! If he had seen it, where would she put her face? From childhood to adulthood, with an astonishing IQ and exceptional beauty, Wan’er had always been the center of attention. All the boys her age or slightly older would flock around her at first sight, eager to flatter her, leaving Ding Wan’er both speechless and helpless. Yet, she had always maintained her composure, having never let any male friend enter her world.

"Have you read the letter?" Ding Wan’er steadied her nerves and asked cautiously, fearing that Lin Feng would say he had once read the letter. If that were the case, she truly didn’t know what she would do...

"The letter is addressed to you; why would I look at it!" Lin Feng replied. However, he was also very curious why Ding Wan’er would ask such a question! Why did Old Gu tell him not to read it? What connection was there between the two?

Reassured by Lin Feng’s affirmative answer, Ding Wan’er finally relaxed a little; thankfully, this Lin Feng had manners and wasn’t in the habit of opening other people’s mail! If he found out she was his fiancée, the embarrassnt would be unbearable! No, she had to think of a way to get him to leave, to make him leave on his own accord so that the marriage arrangent would never be fulfilled! Although Lin Feng seed alright in appearance, she definitely couldn’t accept living with him, since she was extrely averse to such pre-arranged marriages!

"Miss Ding, are you feeling unwell?" Lin Feng, oblivious to the turmoil in Ding Wan’er’s heart and her chaotic thoughts, only saw that she appeared to change expressions as if putting on a different face, with her complexion changing rapidly. He casually asked.

Upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, Ding Wan’er ca back to her senses, realizing she had just spaced out!

"Mr. Lin, what did the owner of the letter say?"

"He didn’t say much, just that finding you would get

a university teaching position arranged!" Lin Feng quickly thought of this matter, thanks to his parents. To him, what he did wasn’t a problem at the mont, and being here was due to his promise to Old Gu.

"Oh, got it," Ding Wan’er quietly sighed in relief, then casually asked, "Mr. Lin, how do you feel about teaching at this university?"

Lin Feng reminisced for a mont; the school’s environnt was pretty good, after all. But it was just a job to him, so he casually responded, "It’s okay."

It’s okay??? Just okay? Ding Wan’er felt a twinge of discomfort, a significant discomfort. This university had been nationally renowned as a private institution back when it was run by her grandfather. After taking over, she had implented a series of major reforms and transformations, facilitating academic exchanges with well-known universities worldwide, elevating it to an even higher status than most public universities.

Moreover, her university still held a prestigious international reputation! She had always taken pride in her school, and every year, countless people would pull strings and flatter just to get involved with her university. Not to ntion, the salary which was almost double that of public university teachers was enough to make anyone envious!

And yet, this man had just said it was okay!!

In Ding Wan’er’s book, "okay" ant sothing quite ordinary.

Ding Wan’er stared at Lin Feng. Almost everyone in Tianhai City knew what kind of institution Tianhai Yinbo University was, but now from his mouth, it was diminished to rely "okay," which was sothing she found utterly unacceptable. Her university, rely equated to an ordinary one in his eyes...

How dare he say that? The university was Wan’er’s pride and effort, and she couldn’t tolerate soone just saying it was okay. A bit angry, she asked, "Did you learn about this school before you ca here?"

"Nope, I just ca straight over with the letter! Is there a problem?"

Hearing Lin Feng’s response, Ding Wan’er almost fainted; a black line seed to crawl upon her forehead. It was the first ti in years that Wan’er lost her temper!

In Wan’er’s view, she hoped Lin Feng would admit his mistake and praise the school a bit, to give her, the principal, so face. But she hadn’t anticipated Lin Feng’s words disregarded others’ feelings and dignity so bluntly that they nearly choked her! What kind of person was this Lin Feng, and what was he thinking? Was he even from Tianhai? Couldn’t he show a little consideration for soone else’s dignity... How could he speak like that...

Still thinks he’s my fiance, huh!

Already sowhat resistant and disgusted, trying to think of how to cope, Ding Wan’er grew even more unhappy.

As she brooded over it, Ding Wan’er beca very angry! But considering she was a university principal, she could only suppress her rage and asked with neither shock nor joy, "May I ask, Mr. Lin, what are your specialties, and what subjects can you teach?"

"I can do anything, anything at all!" Lin Feng thought hard with his head lowered, seeming to genuinely believe he could do anything.

What? What did he just say? Ding Wan’er could not have expected Lin Feng to say sothing like that. What does ’can do anything’ an, what does ’anything at all’ an!

Isn’t he a bit too presumptuous! Even her own grandfather had never claid he could do anything! I’ve been called a genius girl my whole life, the youngest ever in the United States to receive a dual doctorate degree at 20, and even after taking over as principal of Yingbo University for two years, I wouldn’t dare claim I can do everything. Lin Feng seems to be only about my age, how can he be so arrogant!

No, I must hold back, Ding Wan’er suppressed her anger and added, "Do you know, Mr. Lin, that we have nearly 90 departnts at Tianhai Yingbo University? When you say you can do anything, you’d better think more carefully before you answer, okay?"

Lin Feng thought seriously for a mont, as if there really was nothing he couldn’t do.

"I’ve thought it over, and I really can do anything."

This sentence nearly choked Ding Wan’er to death! It left her speechless for a long ti, feeling utterly frustrated as she watched Lin Feng, trying to figure out whether he was speaking the truth or lies, truly clueless or just feigning ignorance. Why must he always talk so shockingly!

Anyone who says such things must be either a complete idiot, unaware of his ignorance, or a true genius, a confident genius—possibly even more talented than her, though Ding Wan’er refused to believe that Lin Feng could be better than she was!

Ding Wan’er was so annoyed. Do you think this is a kindergarten where you can just teach little kids?

Where any random person can muddle through a class! And claim to be able to do anything, to be capable of anything! This is Tianhai Yingbo University, where every university lecturer here is a top national teacher. Who do you think you are? Not to ntion the evaluations every six months, unqualified teachers are dismissed! You could say, those who remain are truly skilled, truly capable people. What qualifies you to be a teacher here?

As a genius and beautiful principal, Ding Wan’er still cald down a bit, adjusted her mood, and thought about what Lin Feng had said—maybe he really was different from ordinary people? Maybe he truly had the skills and wasn’t just all talk? Reluctantly, she further inquired, "What are your educational qualifications, Mr. Lin?"

"I didn’t graduate from high school." Lin Feng thought for a mont; he seed to rember he was in his second year of high school before going to the island, so he answered Ding Wan’er’s question honestly.

Ding Wan’er felt like she was struggling to breathe, with her hands pressing on the table, almost passing out from Lin Feng’s words. Holding her forehead in her hands, she felt a headache coming on. She didn’t know how to arrange a position for Lin Feng now. If word got out that soone who hadn’t even finished high school was teaching at Tianhai Yingbo University, could my school even continue to operate!

She also severely scorned the person who wrote the recomndation letter in her heart. Do you even know what kind of place this is, allowing soone who hasn’t finished high school to teach university students here? Is that a mistake? Is Lin Feng here to make things difficult for ?

But the recomndation letter still needed to be dealt with, and a job had to be arranged. Ding Wan’er decided to offer Lin Feng another type of work, since being a teacher was clearly out of the question. She hoped to find another direction to break through and assign him a different job.

So Ding Wan’er asked once more, "Where have you been working these past few years, Mr. Lin?"

"Oh, on an island. Spent more than five years living on an island, and after coming back, I ca straight here!" Lin Feng answered just as honestly as before.

Ding Wan’er was absolutely speechless, overwheld by Lin Feng’s responses. She felt like she couldn’t hold on through this storm. What sort of situation was this, to be asked to arrange for soone to be a university lecturer out of the blue, soone who hadn’t graduated high school, let alone the strangest case of soone who had spent five years on an island. She really didn’t know what to do! Ding Wan’er was so thunderstruck she could hardly speak, left just staring dumbly at Lin Feng!

Never did she think she’d co across such an outrageous character. He seed decent enough at first sight, but the more he talked, the more uncouth and unreliable he beca...
