Chapter 566: Chapter 564: Networking Event
“Why did this happen!” Narlyd couldn’t help but cry out after hearing the words, feeling wronged. Although she didn’t know the term “entrapnt,” she felt that her teacher, Cessi, had set her up to make a mistake deliberately. It was so unfair!
“Because I need to temper your mind,” Cessi spoke up, instructing Narlyd, “It’s to make you more cautious, to stop being reckless, and definitely not to repeat what happened last ti you left— not only did you return late, but you were also covered in injuries.”
“But I was being responsible!” Narlyd pouted.
“Being responsible also ans taking care of your own body and not getting hurt!”
“That’s impossible, teacher, you heard what I, I…” Narlyd started to speak but suddenly stopped because she saw Cessi staring at her with wide eyes.
“Are you trying to kill with frustration, talking back to ?!” Cessi said.
“I, okay, I was wrong,” Narlyd reluctantly admitted her mistake.
“I was wrong too, teacher,” Heidi murmured from the side.
Cessi glanced at the two, saying, “It’s good you acknowledge your mistakes. And since you’ve admitted them, you must be punished to learn the lesson you deserve.”
“What kind of punishnt?” Narlyd looked at Cessi and asked nervously, “Teacher, let be clear, please don’t make make more Pumpkin Lamps, I really can’t handle it. Let’s use sothing else, I promise I’ll complete it!”
“Phew—”
Cessi exhaled, thought for a mont, and said, “Then you two go clean up the garden behind the hut, one of you loosen the soil, the other water the plants.”
“Okay, I’ll loosen the soil,” Narlyd imdiately said, “Loosening the soil requires strength, and I have a lot of it, so I should do it. Heidi just needs to water the plants, don’t tire her out.”
“Whatever you prefer, now go,” Cessi waved them off.
Narlyd and Heidi imdiately headed towards the back of the hut.
The black cat Mi Qi, basking in the sun by the road, slowly stood up, shook its fur, and owed as if saying, “I knew it would end like this.” Then, with light steps, it followed Narlyd and Heidi towards the back of the hut.
Cessi watched the two girls and the cat disappear from sight, shook her head slightly without saying anything, and turned to walk back into the hut.
…
In the evening.
Atop the hut, Cessi sat quietly in her chair, a cup of hot tea beside her, steam rising, swirling around in the air, and finally dispersing.
Cessi maintained this position, motionless, as if in deep thought. It was only when the tea almost cooled that she slightly lifted her head and looked towards the stairs.
Seconds later, the “creak, creek” of footsteps on the stairs filled the space as Narlyd and Heidi, one after the other, walked up. Their clothes, faces, and hands were dusty, looking quite dirty.
Following behind them, the black cat Mi Qi also ca up. It dragged its body up the stairs, yawned, and then lay down in the corner, looking completely exhausted, although in reality, it had not helped at all.
Cessi looked at Narlyd and Heidi and asked, “Have you finished everything in the garden?”
“Um,” Narlyd nodded and replied, “Everything’s done.”
“How well did you do?”
“Really well.” Narlyd said, “I ticulously turned over the entire garden, and I only broke twelve flowers for you, teacher. Hey, teacher, don’t be mad, the ones I broke are the ones you don’t like that much, like the Akro Flowers and Blood Cloud Flowers. The ones you value a lot, like the Purple-eyed Rhododendron and Blue Orchid, I had Heidi help turn the soil; they’re all fine.”
Cessi raised her hand, wanting to say sothing but eventually gave up. She pinched the bridge of her nose and slowly spoke to Narlyd and Heidi, “Alright then, let’s consider today’s events settled. You need to learn from this, don’t repeat the mistakes, got it? Otherwise, I don’t even know how to punish you next ti.”
“Yes.”
“Understood, teacher.”
“Good, you know it now. First, go wash up, and after you’re clean, go down to eat. The food is already in the cabinet. After you eat, co back up, I have sothing to tell you.”
“Sothing to tell us? What is it?” Narlyd asked curiously as Heidi also looked towards Cessi.
“It’s nothing major. In a few days, you may need to accompany on a trip to another gathering place to attend a eting.”
“A eting?”
“Yes, a eting,” Cessi waved her hand. “I will tell you more about it later, go wash up first.”
“I want to eat first, I’m starving. I’ll wash after I eat,” Narlyd said as she headed downstairs, not forgetting to remind, “Heidi, you better co down too, or I’ll eat your portion as well.”
“I—”, Heidi hesitated, then reluctantly followed Narlyd down.
After a while, the black cat Mi Qi, who was lying in a corner upstairs, seed to sll sothing and stood up. With a “swoosh” like lightning, it darted downstairs.
Cessi looked and shook her head, muttering to herself: “Three little gluttons.”
…
At about the sa ti.
Inside Eden.
Richard was sitting on the main laboratory table, gently tapping on the lab table, producing a rhythmic “tap tap” sound.
He too had received the eting notice and even knew the na of the eting, a simple three-character na—”Exchange eting.”
Yes, an Exchange eting.
According to what he had learned, not only people from his gathering place but also from another gathering place would participate in this Exchange eting.
This was because the gathering places of the Jungle Hut, although theoretically independent of each other, still maintained close relationships and frequent interactions, especially if two gathering places were located close to each other.
His gathering place, Dark Forest Gathering Place, and the nearby Green Wind Gathering Place, were just like that. The purpose of the Exchange eting was to enable people from these two gathering places to exchange relevant matters to reduce conflicts and help each other.
For instance, if one gathering place wanted to recruit students soon, it was best for the other gathering place to stagger its dates and recruitnt areas, avoiding competition for new students. Similarly, if one gathering place lacked certain supplies that the other had, they could trade for them. Additionally, they could exchange information, spells, and discuss attitudes towards other wizard organizations.
Such etings, between the Dark Forest and the Green Wind gathering places, usually occurred twice a year; the last one was in April, and the next one in just a few days.
At this Exchange eting, many wizards would show up, so bringing their students to give them exposure. Others didn’t care much, just sending their students to represent them, or not participating at all.
Richard knew that in the past decade or more, Guluo had never participated in such etings. And given his personality, he wasn’t very keen on participating either.
However, considering that attending these etings could continue to strengthen his fabricated persona and possibly gather information about Guluo from other wizards, leading him to discover the location of the Holy Land Key hidden by Guluo, he ultimately decided to go and see.
After all, as things stood, it seed beneficial and harmless to attend, treating it as a diversion.
“An Exchange eting, huh?” Richard’s tapping ceased as he stood up slowly, took a few steps, and said to himself, “I hope it bears so fruit.”
