Faced with the "judgent" words of the long-haired woman, Richard couldn’t help but think of so things.
Speaking of which, he always had doubts and was seeking answers about why he participated in the national war between the Alliance and the Sika Kingdom, and why he beca the second-in-command of the Alliance army — the Command Consultant.
Now, from the words of the long-haired woman, he had obtained so information.
According to the long-haired woman, the Truth Society had long suspected his current situation, believing that he was cooperating with the Alliance in an attempt to eliminate the Truth Society.
Logically speaking, this was quite reasonable.
Excluding what he did on the East Coast, which the Truth Society might not know about, the Truth Society absolutely understood his destruction of Pompeii, and the eradication of many branches of the Southern Free Federation, as well as the death of the Colorful Rings’ manager, would very likely also be attributed to him.
In essence, he had now fully attracted the hatred of the Truth Society, becoming its number one enemy.
For soone like him to suddenly beco the Command Consultant of the Alliance, possessing control over the army, and launching a decisive battle against the Sika Kingdom, continuously advancing deep into Sika, it seed as if he was indeed targeting the Truth Society — knowing that the headquarters of the Truth Society was located sowhere in the Sika Kingdom.
So, saying that... the Alliance’s purpose was not to target Sika, but to target the Truth Society?
No, no.
Thinking it through, Richard quickly shook his head.
This line of reasoning had loopholes.
Yes, it had loopholes.
If the Alliance truly aid to target the Truth Society, then they shouldn’t have placed him in a high position, at least not so obviously, alerting everyone. This was practically directly informing the Truth Society, making them vigilant, and certainly not achieving an ideal effect.
So the Alliance’s purpose was to feint east and attack west, appearing to deal with the Truth Society, while actually targeting the Sika Kingdom?
That made even less sense.
Because initially, the Alliance Emperor announced the initiation of a national war against the Sika Kingdom, continually defeating its armies, and it wouldn’t seem all the people across the continent were blind to see this, right?
Then what is the Alliance’s true intention?
According to Soron’s previous actions, it could be inferred that all of this wasn’t a spur-of-the-mont but had a comprehensive plan which would soon be implented.
Richard rubbed his brow, his thoughts unfurling, yet no matter how they stretched, he felt unable to arrive at a completely rational explanation.
There were still too few clues... Richard couldn’t help but sigh inwardly... With so few clues, he could only make the most basic inferences:
Firstly, the Alliance had him beco a Command Consultant and offered many resources in exchange, definitely with so ulterior motive.
Secondly, the Truth Society was convinced he cooperated with the Alliance this ti to target the Truth Society — at least its mbers believed so. Honestly, if the Truth Society didn’t consider him protected by a large army and his strength unpredictable, they might have rallied a force to attack directly, rather than sending out an odd two or three to spy on him.
In that case... if the Alliance really had a complete plan, it was probably deliberately letting the Truth Society think this way, placing him in the open, fully attracting the Truth Society’s hatred.
As for what to do next, it remained to be seen.
To be seen...
Richard ended his chain of thoughts, looked at the long-haired woman, and slowly spoke: "You say, my cooperation with the Alliance is to deal with you? Honestly, I didn’t have that thought. I only cooperated with the Alliance to obtain so things."
"You think I would believe your nonsense!" the long-haired woman shouted, "Let tell you, don’t try to deceive . You can’t fool , nor the organization. The organization will eventually give a traitor like you the punishnt you deserve. And you can forget about using to test anything, for with what you’ve done, the Truth Society will not compromise with you! Go die!"
After speaking, the long-haired woman’s face turned crimson, her body exhibiting a strong energy response; the room’s air first fluctuated and then swiftly transford into a gust of wind, knocking the three Sika spies against the wall unconscious.
The energy response within the long-haired woman continued to intensify, seeming to be on the verge of an explosion.
Richard raised an eyebrow and quickly intervened. With a wave of his hand, the air surged, forming an invisible hand within the house, chopping towards the woman’s nape.
The woman sensed it and quickly turned to evade, but she had only partially turned when she was struck — because the invisible hand Richard ford was not just one.
"Bang!"
The woman’s nape was hit, and she fell straight to the ground, the energy response within dissipating rapidly, her attempt at suicide foiled.
Richard glanced at the woman, shaking his head slightly.
Then he withdrew his gaze, looking at the papyrus with dozens of lines written on it, he said with a hint of regret: "This ti the test has only completed at most half of the project, it seems the test subject not cooperating is indeed a difficult thing, the remaining project will have to find Bi Bi to solve.
However, that being said, although the project was not completely finished, I did learn so information about the Truth Society, peeled back so fog, and clarified so of the Alliance’s aims, so it’s a trade-off. Next, just quietly observe the Alliance’s actions. I really wonder, what will the Alliance actually do..."
Richard was speaking when he suddenly heard footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw Bi Bi walking over.
Bi Bi was holding a piece of bread, dipping it in a strange sauce, munching continuously, seeming to have sothing to say — but perhaps because the bread was too delicious, she intended to finish it first before speaking.
Richard watched for a few seconds and couldn’t help but ask, "What’s up?"
"Mmm, glup!" Bi Bi swallowed her mouthful forcefully, finally speaking, "Soone’s broken in again."
"Soone’s broken in again?" Richard raised an eyebrow, looking slightly displeased.
Have they really taken his mansion for a public restroom, where anyone thinks they can co?
He expanded his senses, sensing quickly, then turned to Bi Bi a few seconds later, his expression pensive, shaking his head, "They probably didn’t break in, but just walked in openly, possibly... soone from the army."
"Really?" Bi Bi swallowed another mouthful of bread, baffled, "Then maybe I mistook it, shall I check again?"
"No need, they’re already here," Richard said.
"Mmm? Ah—hic!"
Sure enough, not long after Richard’s words, the sound of a large number of footsteps approached, and a servant led a fully ard squad of Magic Knights in.
The servant walked a few steps ahead, quickly reaching Richard, and whispered a complaint, "My Lord, it’s soone sent by General Soron. Initially, I wanted them to wait a bit before informing you. But they said the military situation was urgent and insisted on following to see you."
"Is that so, alright then," Richard responded nonchalantly, turning his gaze to the commander of the arriving squad.
After observing for a few monts, he recognized the commander — the very captain of one of the two Magic Knight squads that supported the Central Army from the left wing during the battle of Kasha City — incidentally, the person was one of Soron’s trusted aides, which is why he was kept as a reserve.
Though he wasn’t sure what the person wanted.
At this mont, the person stopped a few ters away, hamred his right fist against his left chest, gave a standard military salute, and spoke: "Lord Richard, sorry for disturbing you so late. However, tonight Kasha City was infiltrated on a massive scale by enemy spies; we had a hard ti capturing most of them.
For safety reasons, General Soron specially sent us to your mansion to check the situation. If there are spies, we’ll help capture them, and if Lord Richard has already captured so, please hand them over to us. We’ll detain them in the dungeon, and interrogate them together. Oh, and here is the general’s order, please have a look."
After speaking, the person respectfully handed over a token engraved with a Magic Rune, proving it was genuine.
Richard took the token, glanced over it, and returned it without much objection.
After all, including a mber of the Truth Society, the four spies seed unlikely to cooperate with his tests when awakened, so turning them over to Soron would save the trouble of handling them.
"Alright, the people are inside the house. Act according to the order." Richard gestured to the room, releasing the restrictions, pausing halfway as he thought of sothing, and then spoke again, "But you may not be able to take them, as they are unconscious, they can be carried out. Oh, and while carrying them, don’t forget that arm, that’s also a spy’s arm."
"Yes, understood." The Magic Knight Captain responded, trying to keep his expression neutral while gesturing for his n to move into the room and quickly carry the spies away.
Richard watched the squad of Magic Knights leave, his eyes narrowing slightly in contemplation, "The massive infiltration by enemy spies and such a rapid response indicates likely prior preparation. In this case, the real hidden plans have probably comnced, right. Hmm, it should... it should..."
