"Boom!"

The sound of the volcanic eruption continued, and a figure appeared a dozen miles away—Richard.

At this mont, Richard’s face was as pale as paper, with blood constantly seeping out from under his skin. But that was nothing; more severe was the internal damage caused by the Void Energy Erosion, making him feel like a fire was burning in his chest and abdon, with intense pain constantly stimulating his nerves.

And barring unexpected events, this pain would continue, accompanying him for the rest of his life, until he dies—unless he could find a way to clear the Void Energy Erosion—but given Allen Pamp’s decades of failure, it seed very difficult.

However, paying such a huge price was not without gains; the result was a successful escape from danger.

Previously, he had cast the Void Transfer Magic a dozen tis in succession, arriving at Pompeii while being pursued in the Dead Sea. Then he cast an extrely risky long-distance Void Transfer Magic, successfully leaving the Dead Sea in the volcanic channel, and activated the last atomic bomb, the most powerful atomic bomb he made, to seek survival.

In short, he used almost half his life as a price to solve the trouble of the Dead Sea, which was truly devastating.

If he had known beforehand that the Dead Sea would appear at Pompeii, he would never have risked returning to Pompeii to collect data.

In his reasoning, in the extrely short ti after the nuclear explosion, under completely blocked communication, the Truth Society could not possibly have transmitted information. Even if they did, other mbers couldn’t have co to provide support this quickly. Even if they could provide support this quickly, it wouldn’t have left him with no power to resist.

The only explanation for the Dead Sea’s unexpected appearance at Pompeii was perhaps just what the Dead Sea said—it was nearby by coincidence, so it ca over to take a look.

This could only an that he was truly unlucky: the Colorful Rings in the Truth Society were very few, usually difficult to et, yet when he didn’t want to et, there happened to be one nearby.

But since it already happened, self-pity would change nothing; the most rational choice was to face reality and deal with it logically.

"Whew—"

Richard exhaled a breath, feeling the "scorching" deflation of his lung lobes, the pain slightly eased. With a flip of his hand, he took out an iron box-like instrunt from the Space Iron Ring. Glancing back at the position of the volcanic eruption, estimating the distance, he then scanned multiple readings on different instrunts.

morizing the numbers, he put away the instrunt, released a small amount of Free Energy Elents, and moved toward the distance.

In his thoughts, he actually wanted to precisely asure the data of the third atomic bomb. But considering that the Dead Sea might not be completely dead and that a second Colorful Rings supervisor could suddenly appear from sowhere, it was better to be cautious and just collect the basic data.

This way, the difference wouldn’t be too great, as he had largely collected the data of the three atomic bombs.

This was naturally different from the planned collection, but it could roughly achieve the ultimate result he wanted, only with a sowhat increased margin of error.

In other words, he completed the envisioned experint in advance in another manner, the only difference being that he added a negative condition of "Void Energy Erosion" to himself.

Thinking this way, it didn’t seem like much of a loss.

Richard pondered as he walked so ten miles and saw at the end of a road the outline of a small town appearing, with the na on the map flashing quickly through his mind.

In front should be a small town called "Kano," with no wizard organizations present, and not within the Truth Society’s sphere of influence, just a gathering place for ordinary people. It should be pretty safe to pass through there.

Nodding slightly, Richard proceeded forward.

...

anwhile.

Not far from the small town of Kano, in another town—Nova Town.

Two n were flying rapidly through the air, passing by one side of the town, and landed on a piece of empty farmland not far from the town.

One of the n wore blue clothes, had thick eyebrows and big eyes, with a serious expression. He was a big figure in the Soma Alliance—the black-faced elder Lord Oscar’s guard, with the strength of a Level 4 Wizard. Also, he had a rather peculiar na for this world—Zong Hu.

The other man wore brown clothes, resembling Zong Hu in appearance, but with less seriousness and more of a carefree deanor. He too had the strength of a Level 4 Wizard and had a similarly peculiar na—Long Shu.

The reason for their similarity was simple; they both ca from the sa family, a very ancient family.

At this mont, the two stood on the ground, looking at the magma and volcanic debris continuously spewed into the sky dozens of miles away, with so of the volcanic ash drifting towards here under the influence of the wind, causing the surrounding plants to change color.

Their expressions beca sowhat solemn, with Long Shu glancing at the direction of Nova Town behind him, hearing faint noises and confusion.

He turned back, speaking to Zong Hu: "It seems many people are scared and are fleeing the town."

"Normal." Zong Hu replied, "They are just ordinary people; fear is a normal reaction to such a disaster. To be honest, I’m feeling so fear now too."

"So you are such a coward, my brother." Long Shu lifted the corners of his mouth slightly, speaking in a slightly teasing tone, "Indeed, still a little brother."

Zong Hu’s expression didn’t change, seemingly accustod, and said coolly, "Don’t tell you’re not afraid at all. On the way here, you also saw, it’s not just a simple volcanic eruption, but also those strange lights and fire. From so far away, we could see them so clearly, imagine how bright that light must be, how big the fireball could be. Do you seriously feel no vigilance, no fear?"

Long Shu blinked, suddenly fell silent.

After a dozen seconds, Long Shu spoke again, looking sowhat reproachfully at Zong Hu, saying, "Alright, my brother, you indeed made the atmosphere a bit gloomy. I must admit, the sudden light and fire also puzzled , but the danger I felt was indeed strong. My intuition tells not to get near there."

"That’s what Lord Oscar told ." Zong Hu raised his eyebrows, saying, "Lord Oscar said our task is to reach Pompeii as soon as possible, to support one of our collaborators. The other party has strict ti requirents, we must arrive before dawn, if not, it’s better to stay as far away as possible, as by then Pompeii would beco very dangerous."

"Well, it’s been daylight for quite a while now." Long Shu glanced at the sky, "According to the Lord’s words, our mission has already failed, we can head back now. This fits my intuition, not to take unnecessary risks, after all, safety is most important."

"Are you agreeing to return then?" Zong Hu looked at Long Shu, asking for his opinion.

"Ha!" Long Shu suddenly laughed, saying, "How could I, my brother!

You should know, for decades, I’ve been going against my intuition, never listening to it—otherwise, I wouldn’t consistently be stronger than you. Granted, our mission may have failed, but since we’re here, not going to satisfy a bit of curiosity would leave a trace of regret, don’t you think?"
