Chapter 550: Infiltration & Stealing Faith

Liora observed the Human Shrine.

Unlike Aaron and the other youths who were brought directly in front of the Human Ancestor Spirits, she seemed to be on the edge of this space for the time being.

Together with the other Human Temple members, she settled in a vast hall, waiting for further instructions from the higher-ups.

Of course, Liora did not have any time to waste here.

Possessing linked memories with her Blood Clone in the outside world, she knew her Blood Clone could not hold out for much longer.

The Blood Clone only possessed 80% of her total power.

Even though this was more than enough to deal with any Archdevil and Awakener below Rank 11, it was simply inadequate to match an Ancient Devil.

Despite this, she displayed no fear. The clone had already won her enough time to infiltrate this place.

All she needed to do now was take advantage of it.

With that thought, Liora raised her head and examined the Human Shrine.

There was a vast difference between visiting this place in person and observing it through Aaron’s eyes via her Blood Clone.

Almost immediately, she raised her eyebrows.

She noticed that this place was somewhat different from the demi-planes she had visited before. Or rather, it was not a demi-plane at all.

If Liora had to describe it, it looked much like her World of Heart. More specifically…

“This place is nearly the same as the illusory space within my talent genes.”

“I previously suspected that by advancing further, an Awakener could sooner or later transform their talent genes into a real world.”

“Now, it seems that this guess is not necessarily unfounded.”

As for the owner of this “talent gene”, Liora already had a suspicion. However, she didn’t rush to confirm it.

After taking a look at the temple’s members around her, she closed her eyes briefly and traced their connection.

Then, she casually waved her hand at the space in front of her before transforming into a stream of light and entering through the gap that had just opened.

Ysset, clutching tightly to the fabric on her shoulder, followed her in.

Within the real core of the Human Shrine, Aaron’s eyes had bee increasingly blurry.

Information regarding hundreds of different techniques constantly flashed through his eyes.

Although he had long pleted the Mission given by the “System”, he had yet to stop, much less receive the promised rewards.

He had lost track of the time, immersed in the sea of knowledge.

Because of that, he didn’t even realize that another person had unknowingly appeared in the stone square.

It was Liora. Tracing her connection with her Blood Clone, she pierced through space and arrived in the square without obtaining the Human Shrine’s permission.

Just as she did before, Liora’s gaze immediately swept across her surroundings.

The thousands of statues instantly caught her attention, as well as the pure light dancing along their bodies.

“As expected. These Human Ancestor Spirits exist based on the power of faith.”

“Just like the statues of the Gods in the outside world, these statues can also collect faith, thus maintaining a wisp of will.”

“Still, it seems that passing their inheritance is not the only reason these statues exist…”

Liora showed a thoughtful expression.

She lifted her head and followed the trajectory of faith, only to find that only part of it arrived at the statues.

The other half dispersed into the surrounding space, merging with the “talent gene” itself.

“Does this space use these statues as a source of power to maintain its existence? No wonder the oppression I face is so great despite it being currently ‘unmanned’.”

Liora checked her current condition.

She could only exert a small part of her overall power at the moment, as though she were facing the suppression of the Will of the World once again.

In a certain sense, this was correct.

It was just that the Will didn’t belong to the Cosmic World or the Blood Forest Realm, but to this “talent gene”.

Unless her power was far greater than the owner’s, Liora would find it impossible to resist, just like anyone who entered her talent genes would be easily suppressed by her.

She narrowed her eyes at that realization.

Fortunately, she had long expected such a scenario and had formed a rough plan on how to bypass this restriction.

After observing the flow of faith for a few more seconds, she confirmed her guess.

Her body immediately blurred.

When she reappeared, she was standing in front of the warrior statue Aaron had first approached, whose historical projection she had previously fought against.

As she looked at it, Liora’s mind moved.

Both her demonic energy and Cosmic Energy surged, gradually adjusting their own state.

Faint changes began to occur in her.

If anyone else had been present to witness it, they would discover that Liora’s very nature was gradually being altered, growing increasingly closer to that of the statue.

By the end, the two appeared one and the same.

Although their appearances were vastly different and this should not have happened, they looked exactly the same in the “eyes” of this world.

The faith gathering around the statue was confused.

It stopped moving for a brief moment, as though it could not understand where it should go next.

Two opposing forces acted on it, each different yet also the same.

But as Liora activated the Cosmic Devouring Technique, the balance between the two forces tilted.

Without further hesitation, the faith moved toward her and poured into her.

This was not an isolated case. Rather, all the faith that had been accumulated in the statue was slowly stolen away.

Once the final wisp of it vanished, the statue began to transform.

Its facial features squirmed, as did the rest of its body.

Within moments, it was no longer a blood-soaked warrior. It had transformed into a beautiful and indifferent woman.

Almost instantaneously, Liora sensed part of the world’s suppression disappear.

Moreover, a faint connection with a deeper place was established.

Her eyes brightened. She knew that her plan had been successful.

Still, she didn’t rush to do anything reckless. She moved on to the next statue.

A similar process took place.

She drained the statue’s accumulated faith and caused its nature to shift.

The same was true for the third, fourth, and other statues.

Slowly but surely, more and more statues of Liora appeared within the Human Shrine.

As a result, the suppression dispersed as the invisible connection was constantly growing stronger.
