The registration of marriage between Zhang Jiren and Li ili was completed without a glitch. They only needed to fill up the forms, sign the papers and let their photos be taken together. An hour later, they stepped outside with both marriage certificates in their hands.
"That was fast. I thought we would have to wait for a long ti." Li Yuanyi said as he typed a ssage on his phone to inform his father that the two had successfully registered their marriage.
The newly wedded couple didn't say anything as Zhang Jiren still didn't know what to feel knowing that he had married his twin sister's best friend, while Li ili had never thought that it wasn't Tang Beixuan she'd be married to.
If soone told her a few weeks ago that her beloved would die in an accident and she would end up marrying Zhang Jiren instead, Li ili was sure she would have beaten that person into a pulp. However, her reality now proved that she can never be certain of the future.
A few weeks ago, she was certain that she would co ho and be reunited with Tang Beixuan. However, now, she ended up as soone else's wife instead.
"Dad said we should invite you for dinner tonight, CEO Zhang. I hope you have ti to heed my old man's request." Li Yuanyi told his now brother-in-law.
Zhang Jiren glanced at his wife before answering Li Yuanyi. They both agreed to return to Shenzhen tonight as there were things they both needed to deal with now that they are married.
"I think that's fine. Li ili and I decided to return to Shenzhen tonight. I won't mind her spending a little ti with you before we leave." He told Li Yuanyi.
"Then that's decided." Li Yuanyi nodded in agreent, although he wasn't certain how this set up between Zhang Jiren and his sister would turn out in the future.
The news about the sudden marriage between the CEO of Zhang Corporation and the heiress of the Li Group spread like wildfire within the country in under two hours, unbeknownst to the newly wedded couple.
Chairman Li didn't waste ti to announce his daughter's marriage to Zhang Jiren, beating the paparazzis before they made any outrageous claims against Li ili. He would never give them a chance to ruin his daughter's reputation.
That night, Zhang Jiren drove to the Li Manor with Li ili in his car. Once they arrived, Zhang Jiren opened the door for his wife and Li ili got out, but she didn't go straight inside the manor to see her parents. If it was her, she would rather go back to Shenzhen with Zhang Jiren right now than to waste more ti here with her family.
"Shall we go inside? Let's not keep them waiting." Zhang Jiren offered an arm to her, which she begrudgingly accepted. Li ili knew she needed to play along with Zhang Jiren. She had to give them an impression that they weren't strangers to each other and that they loved each other deeply.
Chairman Li, along with Madam Li and Li Yuanyi were all waiting inside the manor, each had different expressions on their faces. The old man looked pleased seeing the two together while Madam Li looked at them with curiosity.
Li Yuanyi was slacking on the couch, busying himself on the phone with a slight smile on his face, which was obvious to his sister that he might be talking to ng Yanran, otherwise that silly expression wouldn't be on his face.
"Chairman Li, thank you for inviting tonight." Zhang Jiren greeted first formally, shaking the old man's hand before taking a seat on the couch next to Li ili.
The old man was pleased to see the diamond ring his daughter was wearing on her ring finger, clearly indicating that she had truly gotten married today.
"What Chairman Li? You are now part of the family, Jiren. You don't need to be so formal." Much to Li ili's surprise, it seed like her father truly favored Zhang Jiren and was very satisfied with this son-in-law. She briefly wondered if he would have done the sa if it was Tang Beixuan, but quickly pushed the thought aside, knowing that the answer might only disappoint her.
"I understand… Father." Zhang Jiren tested the word on his tongue, but he was having a rough ti getting used to it. It was the sa feeling he had whenever he had to call Zhang Xianzhe as his father.
"Jiren, are you hungry? Dinner will be served soon." Out of the Li family mbers, Madam Li liked Zhang Jiren the most. From the mont she had t Zhang Jiren, she had been very impressed with the way he dealt with business questions thrown at him and how respectful he was to everyone he t.
"Okay." Zhang Jiren then glanced at Li ili and said "It's a good thing we arrived just in ti. ili has been bugging to go find her sothing to eat."
Li ili threw a fierce glare towards her husband, trying to pull her hand away from his grasp but failed. Zhang Jiren smiled at her and held her hand tightly. Did he really have to say that in front of her family? Although he was telling the truth, this Zhang Jiren wasn't really giving her a face!
Seeing their small exchange, Chairman Li watched as his daughter failed to shrug off her husband's hand, then indignantly glared at him, but no longer struggled to free her hand. Such a simple action, but seeing his daughter compromise with Zhang Jiren, Chairman Li was shocked. As far as he knew, Li ili wasn't one to yield easily.
