Even If I’m Reborn as a Cute Dragon Girl, I Will Still Make a Harem Book 6: Chapter 3: Brutal Tactics
“And then there’s the second point,” Ciel continued. “I realized that this ti is different from the past. This ti… there are more outsiders.”
Suddenly, Ciel Hesse waved her hand, and the images of Lilith in the countless screens in front of her vanished, replaced by a new set of unfamiliar faces.
The faces were distinct, seemingly unrelated to one another, but a closer inspection revealed that they all shared a pale complexion and lifeless eyes. Rather than living beings, they appeared more like corpses.
“Outsiders? What outsiders?” Luna asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
“It seems you and my Lilith aren’t that close yet, so she hasn’t told you about them,” Ciel Hesse remarked, glancing at Luna with a smug smirk.
“Back then, it took only five days to win Lilith,” she boasted, as if showing off.
“……”
Luna’s cheeks twitched in annoyance.
“Can we get back on to the topic?” she asked.
“Fine.” Ciel pointed to the figures in the display and continued to explain, “The first ti they appeared was in the last millennium, when, by so chance, Lilith and I found ourselves trapped in the dream of a wandering deity.”
“That was when I realized that there was a much larger world beyond this one and that wandering deity ca from that even broader world. For so unknown reason, after falling into a deep sleep, they drifted through the endless void and ended up at the edge of this world. That deity had been dreaming for the longest ti, and that dream was incredibly real.”
“Is it like the dream you had before?” Luna interrupted, frowning.
“No, not at all.” Ciel fell into deep thought, as if still mourning that world. “My dream was incredibly real, almost indistinguishable from reality. But the dream of that deity… it was reality. In that dream world, an intelligent race was born—naturally!”
“What?” Luna’s voice faltered in disbelief. “A new intelligent race was born in a dream? Are you sure that wasn’t just part of the deity’s dream?”
“Of course I’m sure. At that ti, even though I had not fully recovered from the severe injuries inflicted by the queen of dragons, I could still tell the difference between dreams and reality.” Ciel replied.
Ciel gently sighed and said, “That deity’s dream world was actually very small, confined to just a castle. However, around that small castle, the real world kept expanding—mountains, rivers, trees, flowers, grasses, birds, insects, and beasts… They all evolved naturally. Eventually, an intelligent race was born. I rember they were called the… Titans. That was the na Lilith gave them.”
“Unbelievable…” Luna murmured, her mind reeling.
If a dream could be reality, then the power of a real deity must be beyond comprehension. How terrifying must their power be? Doesn’t that an that it’s easy for them to create a real world…?
“Unfortunately, not long after I entered that world, I realized that deity was about to awaken, and that world… it was destined for destruction. However, Lilith was determined to save that race.
“Since that was her wish, I naturally did everything I could to help her carry it out. It was just a sha that before we could execute our plan, Lilith’s body developed problems again—she was reaching the end of her lifespan again.
“I had no other choice. I didn’t know if Lilith could still be resurrected if she were away from the queen of dragons. So, I could only take Lilith and leave that world.”
“What about that intelligent race nad the Titans? What happened to them?” Luna asked.
“I don’t know. At the ti, Lilith made a pact with them, promising to save them the next ti she went into that world. But I know she won’t rember them anymore. Perhaps they’ve already beco a fleeting wave in the river of ti, lost with the awakening of that deity.”
“I see…” Luna sighed despondently. “Individual races really do seem too short-lived and powerless in the long river of ti.”
“I only had Lilith in my eyes at that ti, so I didn’t concern myself with that race. But just the second year after Lilith left, so strange people suddenly appeared in this world.”
“Strange people? You an the outsiders?”
“That’s right. It seems those people were originally from this world—mostly beings with powerful natural abilities who had mastered the power of curses. But they were compelled and controlled by so kind of force, either imbued with strange thoughts or had their bodies taken over directly. They searched frantically for sothing in this world, creating chaos and disaster along the way.”
“But there’s no record of this in the last one thousand years of history. If those outsiders really caused a disaster, that shouldn’t be buried in the dust of history. After all, it was only a thousand years ago. So ancient beings may still survive today,” Luna mused aloud.
“That’s because… the queen of dragons intervened.”
Ciel recalled that day, and the image of the blood-stained red land filled her mind. A trace of deep-seated fear flickered in her eyes.
“That day, she suddenly appeared. She began a maddening purge, preferring to kill the innocent rather than let anyone escape. As long as the outsiders had even the slightest contact with the people here, none of them could escape her. She also began rcilessly killing any families or factions that could wield the power of curses or possessed the knowledge of mastering such powers—no one was spared, from the old to the young. She wiped them all out until there was no one left in the world who could wield the power of curses.”
Luna couldn’t help but shiver. From the little Ciel had revealed, she could imagine the horrific sight of the queen’s massacre.
“But why the power of curses?” she asked.
“Because it is a terrifying ability, and it’s incredibly easy to master. It doesn’t consu many resources, but the user often pays a great price. At the ti, not many practiced it. When those outsiders revealed their power in this world, many learned that they could sohow eliminate the side effects of curses. With that advantage, these outsiders began spreading this power like a cult, training a large number of people to wield the sa power so they could be used to accomplish a specific purpose.”
“Is that why the… queen of dragons targeted people who could wield this power?”
“Yes. After the knowledge of curses was completely removed from this world, the queen of dragons proceeded to kill all those outsider puppets, and the bloody massacre finally ca to an end. Since then, the appearance of gifted abilities in this world has greatly diminished, and most of those abilities turned out to be useless skills.
“It was at that ti I realized that the goal of those outsiders was Lilith, or… sothing she had. At that ti, I just entered the deity’s dream realm with Lilith. The deity wasn’t actually in this world, she was just close to the edge of it.
“Like sharks that slled blood, those outsiders flooded into this world until… they were brutally suppressed by the queen of dragons.”
