Lola Gold and Noah Coldson’s faces paled instantly.

Neither dared to let out a breath as they stared intently at Dr. Hall without blinking, waiting for her to continue.

"Yolanda’s child..." Dr. Hall sighed deeply, "is most likely beyond saving."

Noah Coldson clenched his fists in an instant.

Lola Gold felt as if she had been hit hard on the head, unable to even stand.

She stepped forward, grabbing Dr. Hall’s arm, as if she wanted to kneel before her, "Dr. Hall, this child really ans a lot to Yolanda Greenwood; please, think of sothing, any solution."

Noah nodded in agreent from the side, "Yes, no matter what you require, or if there are any specialists, dostic or international, I can find them. Please make sure to save the child."

Dr. Hall kept sighing; as Yolanda Greenwood’s attending physician, was she unaware of Yolanda’s feelings towards the child?

If it could be saved, she would certainly do everything in her power, but now...

Her expression was one of sorrow as she said, "Of course, I will do my utmost to save the child, but the problem now is that Yolanda has an old injury which I am afraid... I’m afraid that if there is a complication, Yolanda’s own life may not be saved."

The color drained from Lola Gold’s face as she stood in a daze, and for a mont, she didn’t even know who to hate.

"An old injury? What injury?" she muttered. She had never heard Yolanda speak of any old injuries.

Fate only targeted those who were already suffering; why should her Yolanda endure all this?

Dr. Hall had discovered Yolanda’s old injury upon examination before and had asked her about it, knowing what the issue was.

"She had an accident when she was four or five, which damaged her at the root." Dr. Hall sighed gently, revealing another cruel truth, "So if she loses this child now, Yolanda... can never be a mother again."

Lola Gold covered her mouth to stifle her sobs, unable to bear it even in her strength.

Noah Coldson pounded his head, regretting what he had done back then.

"Alright, don’t be too sad," Dr. Hall sniffed, recomposing herself, "Now what we need to do is to work together, take good care of her, and help her get through this tough ti."

They both nodded, understanding that this was not the ti for weakness.

The group entered the hospital room where Dr. Hall thoroughly examined Yolanda Greenwood and left after giving so instructions.

"Noah," Lola Gold called her outside, "I think... if Yolanda wakes up, we shouldn’t tell her about Gemma Morgan’s death for now."

Lola Gold nodded; she thought the sa, as Yolanda couldn’t bear it at the mont.

Reaching an agreent, they split duties. Lola Gold stayed in the hospital to care for Yolanda, while Noah Coldson went to contact specialists in this field.

This ti, Yolanda Greenwood’s condition was obviously very poor; she lay in a coma for several days without awakening.

The divorce cooling-off period had arrived, and Cooper Coldson called countless tis, even reaching out to Noah Coldson and Lola Gold, but none had heard from Yolanda.

"That damn woman!" he fud as he waited at the Civil Affairs Office for an entire day.

The staff inford Cooper that if he still wished to divorce, he would need to reapply with Yolanda present and then wait another thirty days.

"What if I want to file for divorce?" Cooper didn’t want to be toyed with ti and again.

"Mr. Coldson, even with a divorce lawsuit, the defendant’s attendance is required; and if you want the court to force the divorce..." the staff mber apologized, "You might have to wait even longer."

Cooper was furious.

After leaving the Civil Affairs Office, he went to the funeral parlor; today was the ti for Gemma Morgan’s morial service.

He arrived when the service was halfway through and went forward to present flowers.

lissa Greenwood was crying to the point of fainting, while Jaxon Greenwood, the Patriarch of the Greenwood Family, was even more striking, with his hair having turned half white in a matter of days.

lissa noticed Jaxon Greenwood glancing outside, "Dad, is there an important guest?"

Jaxon Greenwood shook his head with a sigh, "Why didn’t Yolanda co?"

He thought of how Gemma Morgan had been concerned about Yolanda before she passed away, and he felt certain Gemma would have wished for Yolanda to attend the morial service.

"Perhaps she’s got sothing on," lissa naturally knew Yolanda was still unconscious in the hospital.

She deliberately lied, "Dad, don’t worry, I sent Yolanda a ssage. If she has ti, she’ll definitely co."

Jaxon Greenwood nodded.

lissa saw Cooper Coldson waiting outside without coming in to comfort her, feeling sowhat resentful.

"Dad," she spoke up on her own initiative, "Cooper is here, I’ll go talk to him for a bit."

Jaxon Greenwood felt vaguely dissatisfied, thinking his daughter was too concerned with Cooper, especially since it was her mother’s funeral. How could she think about talking to Cooper?

His face grew stern, "Wait until the service is over. He won’t leave."

lissa, insistent, said through gritted teeth, "Dad, we’ll just talk for a mont and co right back."

Without waiting for Jaxon Greenwood to speak further, she walked straight towards Cooper.

Under the moonlight, Cooper was smoking.

Lately, he didn’t know why, but he seed to be increasingly addicted to the sensation of smoke filling his lungs as if filling a void.

He saw lissa approaching and squashed the cigarette in his hand, "Why did you co out?"

"My heart is heavy, just wanted to get so air," lissa managed a weak smile.

"Offer your condolences," said Cooper gently, patting lissa’s shoulder with the sa lack of intimate gesture even at this ti.

lissa felt a sour sting in her heart and suddenly hugged Cooper’s waist, "Cooper, I’m so sad; hold , just hold , please?"

"lissa, don’t," Cooper pried her hands away, "Everyone is watching."

"So what?" lissa looked down, "We’re about to get married; what’s wrong with a hug?"

Cooper sighed softly, "lissa, I’m afraid our wedding will have to be postponed."

"Why?" lissa turned agitated, her eyes reddening as she looked at Cooper, "Cooper, the wedding’s been put off again and again; don’t you want to marry anymore?"

She wiped her tears, "If you don’t want to marry , just say it. There’s no need to deceive , to brush off ti after ti."

"lissa, I will marry you," Cooper’s tone was still very firm, "But today, the cooling-off period ended, and Yolanda didn’t show up, so I haven’t been able to finalize the divorce."

lissa cried even harder, "Cooper, do you know? The thing my mom worried about the most before she died was ; she was afraid you’d break your promise."

Her eyes tearfully gazed at Cooper, "My mom’s biggest regret is that she didn’t see get married."

"I’m sorry, lissa," Cooper said apologetically, "Don’t worry, as soon as I get in touch with Yolanda, I will go ahead with the divorce proceedings; it won’t take too long."

"Why is she clinging to you?" lissa looked puzzled, "Hasn’t she already been with my brother?"
