Chapter 21: Drunk! Tang Yuechen Goes Out of Control! Obtaining the Artifact!
Cultivators had great tolerance towards alcohol.
Even if they were to drink thousands of jars of mortal wine, they would remain sober.
Only special items like the Thousand-Year Butterfly Wine could intoxicate them.
Distilled from the spirit grapes born exclusively in the famous Butterfly Forest, the Thousand-Year Butterfly Wine required one thousand years to brew, and its potency was astounding.
Still, it was relatively easy for Core Formation and above cultivators to suppress its effects.
They only needed to subtly circulate their Spiritual Energy and disperse the alcohol within them.
Despite this, it only took a few moments for Tang Yuechen’s face to turn rosy.
"Hiccup~ You... You may not know, but there’s been some trouble in the sect recently." Tang Yuechen leaned against the table and muttered.
"Peak Master Lan of the Battle Peak has recently broken through. He has had plans to fight for the position of the Sect Leader for decades."
"Now, it’s only a matter of time before he makes a move."
"It’s rumored that he has already obtained the support of one of the sect’s ancestors."
Tang Yuechen rambled incessantly and showed no intention of circulating her Spiritual Energy.
She continued downing cup after cup of wine, causing the red in her cheeks to spread.
At the same time, her behavior gradually grew out of control. She no longer spoke about the matters of the Jade Pure Sect, but shifted the topic to herself and Chen Xuan.
"Hiccup~ Senior Brother Chen, your Master should be gone for good this time, right?"
"There should be no one else preventing us from getting together now."
"Hehe," she giggled, "No one in the sect can stop me anymore."
"Say, if I were to sneak into the Yin Yang Peak, tie you up, and kidnap you, then could we...?"
One of Tang Yuechen’s hands pinched her chin, while the other lightly tapped on the table with her nails, as if she were really considering the possibility.
Throughout this process, her gaze remained fixed on Chen Xuan, as a faint glimmer rippled across her eyes.
Chen Xuan had been circulating his Spiritual Energy from the start and had not let the effects of the Thousand-Year Butterfly Wine affect him.
The moment that glimmer appeared, he felt a shiver run down his spine, and a sense of crisis flared in his soul.
He didn’t need to think for long to guess the source of the danger. Combined with Tang Yuechen’s words, the culprit was apparent.
Chen Xuan secretly cursed at himself, believing that he must have gone out of his mind to bring wine to this woman.
Moreover, he couldn’t help but wonder: why did she seem so eager to kidnap him while sweetly referring to him as Senior Brother?
She and Chen Xuan had indeed been close over the years.
Yet, their relationship had never crossed the line past friendship and developed any further.
Over the course of his life, there had been dozens of women he was this close to, yet none behaved like this.
He couldn’t understand why Tang Yuechen acted so strangely.
But as soon as this thought arose, Chen Xuan suddenly remembered something.
’Now that I think about it, it seems that she is not the only one.’
’Tang Yuechen, Leng Wuyan, Ling Ziyan, Bai Ningxue...’
He ticked them off on his fingers, only to arrive at a startling realization.
Unknowingly, his relationship with so many women had reached the point of no return.
Most importantly, all the aforementioned women were far stronger than him, all at least at the Nascent Soul realm!
Chen Xuan broke out in a cold sweat.
Just when he was considering whether he should escape the Tianxuan Domain and find a place to hide, Tang Yuechen surged to her feet and sent the jade table tumbling.
Her body shot forward as she lunged into his lap.
She coiled her hands around his back and lowered her head.
Her breath, heavy with the sweetness of the wine and her own natural fragrance, brushed gently against his lips.
Fortunately, her "predatory" intent was so sharp it alarmed Chen Xuan before it even happened.
He jerked his head aside at the last possible second, escaping her advance, before pressing his palm against her shoulder.
His Spiritual Energy erupted and surged into her meridians, forcibly flushing out the alcohol in her body.
Tang Yuechen was halfway through the motion of attacking again when her movements suddenly grew slower.
The crimson in the white part of her eyes receded, and they gradually regained their liveliness.
When the wine’s effect was gone completely, Tang Yuechen found herself straddling Chen Xuan with her legs wrapped tightly around his waist.
She didn’t say a word.
An awkward silence fell as she loosened her legs and rose to her feet.
The brutish behavior she displayed earlier vanished.
The stern expression she had while scolding the elderly cultivators reemerged.
"You mentioned before that you have a favor to ask me?" A faint smile appeared on her face as she straightened her wrinkled dress.
"Come on! Tell me. I’ll help you to the best of my ability," she promised.
Chen Xuan remained on guard, but part of his concerns disappeared when he noticed that Tang Yuechen had regained consciousness.
Seeing her pretend that nothing had happened, he didn’t take the initiative to mention it.
"Senior Sister Tang, you might have heard that I recently took in a disciple."
"I came for her today. I need you to forge a magic weapon that can..."
Tang Yuechen’s eyebrows knitted together when she heard the first part of his words.
However, as he went on to describe the exact parameters and effects of the magic weapon, her frown relaxed.
She did her best to hide her inner astonishment while staring at Chen Xuan with an odd gaze.
She had to do a double-take.
It was only after she repeatedly confirmed his request that she patted her chest and promised that she could get it done.
--
Tang Yuechen’s attitude towards Chen Xuan was bizarre, and her addiction to wine was eccentric to say the least.
Yet, since she had reached the Nascent Soul realm and was valued enough to serve as Peak Master, her skills and power were without question.
In particular, as the master of the Weapon Peak, her weapon refining skills were at the apex of the Jade Pure Sect and perhaps the entire Tianxuan Domain.
She didn’t keep Chen Xuan waiting for long.
Within a couple of hours, she exited the weapon refining room and returned with the magic treasure in her hands.
"Here it is."
"I’ve refined this weapon according to your requirements."
Saying this, a trace of pride appeared on her face.
"Though this may only be a Magic Weapon, its grade has almost reached the Ultimate-Grade."
"It’s one of its kind in the entire Tianxuan Domain. I only put in this much effort because of our relationship."
Chen Xuan did not doubt her words. Others might feel that she was boasting, but he knew that she had a reason to be proud.
"Thank you, Senior Sister Tang. I apologize, but my disciple is currently injured, and I have to rush back."
"I promise that I will visit you as soon as I’m free," he said and turned around to flee without giving her any time to respond.
Tang Yuechen stared at his back with a confused expression, seemingly not understanding his hurry.
It was only when he had left the Weapon Peak’s range that her face contorted with regret.
The previous glimmer in her eyes returned as she clenched her fists unwillingly.
"Damn it! Damn it! It was so close! So close!"
"If only I had moved just a tad bit faster, he wouldn’t have been able to escape!"
