Chapter 671: Chapter 620: When Did It Start

“I’m having afternoon tea with a friend,” Cherish Turner said cheerfully, adding, “I’ll be back soon, you sit for a while.”

Without waiting for his response, she hung up the phone again.

William Griffith was dumbfounded.

Erxi brought him a cup of coffee and grabbed one for herself. She then noticed the new item on the floor and curiously asked, “Why is there a health tonic here?”

William Griffith’s face was cold, and Erxi asked again, “Did you bring it?”

William remained silent, which was as good as admitting it.

Erxi stared at the health tonic, thought for a mont, widened her beautiful eyes in disbelief, and said, “William Griffith, did you bring this for Cherish?”

William remained silent again, and Erxi muttered, “I don’t think she needs it or would like it.”

William raised his eyebrows slightly, indicating disagreent.

About half an hour later, Cherish Turner finally returned.

They sat quietly on the living room sofa. Erxi monopolized the TV, watching a Korean drama, while William Griffith remained silent. Apart from the noise from the TV, there was only Erxi’s laughter. When Cherish returned, Erxi hurriedly said, “Cherish, soone brought you a gift!”

“What?” Cherish stood in the entrance, changing her slippers.

Erxi was very excited, even smug. “Co and see,” she said gleefully.

Cherish ca to the living room and finally saw the gift Erxi was talking about. Two boxes lay at William’s feet. As he looked up at her, his expression was cold. When Cherish examined the gift more closely, Erxi couldn’t help but tease, “Stress relief tonic, what a great gift! Cherish, when did you enter nopause early? But you can save it for now, although I don’t think it has a shelf life of several decades, right? By the ti you’re fifty, it’ll have long expired.”

“Sending you a stress relief tonic, that’s hilarious,” Erxi laughed rcilessly, getting up and going to the bathroom to wash her hair.

With a solemn face, William finally realized he had been fooled by Yvette Chapman. He didn’t say anything, grabbed the boxes and tried to leave.

But Cherish stopped him, asking softly, “Where are you going?”

“Ho.” He spat out the two words sullenly.

“Stay for dinner? I’m cooking today,” Cherish said with a smile, clinging to his arm, not letting him go.

William hesitated for a mont, “I’ll go throw these away.”

“Don’t throw them away!” Cherish stopped him again, snatching the two boxes of health tonic from him. Holding them in front of her with both hands, she didn’t find it ridiculous but felt an indescribable joy. “It’s a gift for , so it’s mine. I won’t throw it away.”

“You don’t need it.”

“I need it.”

“You’re not fifty years old.”

“Maybe I hit nopause early.”

“A few decades early?”

William said irritably. Cherish smiled, still holding the tonic in her hand. She stepped forward, opened her arms, and embraced him, saying earnestly, “As long as it’s from you, I’ll like it.”

Erxi suddenly pushed open the glass door and went to the balcony to get a dry towel.

Cherish imdiately let go, put the tonic into the cabinet, and took off her coat.

“How did you decide to have tea with a friend? Which friend?” William asked coldly, his gaze following her every move.

Cherish tied her apron and turned to say, “I had so free ti, so we decided to have afternoon tea together.”

“What did you talk about?”

“She’s a forr piano classmate who beca a ballet teacher in the United States, and her dance studio taught many children, even winning awards. She ca back to say she got married, and her baby is already one year old…” Cherish spoke endlessly, full of longing.

“I saw a picture of their family, and the baby is so cute and beautiful, a little mixed-race boy. Her husband is also a diplomat and turns out to be her father’s student…”

William quietly approached the kitchen, leaning against the door to listen.

As she was washing her hands, Cherish’s voice accompanied the sound of the water, gently asking, “William, when did you start liking ?”

William, when did you start liking ?

Whether at work or during her free ti, her question echoed like a spell, making him lose focus for a mont. William signed papers, and just before finishing the last word, Secretary Lee suddenly spoke, making him lose his concentration again, “President Griffith, I know a brand of stress relief tonic that works very well. Do you want to buy more?”

Secretary Lee didn’t know much about these health supplents before. After hurriedly choosing so yesterday, she went ho and learned more from her elders, only to give special notice to be careful with such health supplents to avoid any problems in which she might also be implicated.

The pen nib stopped on the last stroke of the text as William stared at the paper, not responding right away.

“President Griffith?” Secretary Lee couldn’t wait for his answer, so she called out cautiously.

Only then did William co back to his senses, quickly finishing the last stroke. “No need,” he said.

“Yes,” Secretary Lee smiled and took the papers before leaving.

Alone in the large office, he tapped his foot, rotating his chair toward the floor-to-ceiling windows, taking in the vast expanse of blue sky. He closed his eyes slowly, recalling the past in silence. When exactly did this quiet woman make him happy, angry, sad, and joyful?

Was it that day?

When she suddenly returned from a dinner party and cooked him a bowl of noodles that tasted just like they did when he was a child.

Was it that day?

It was cold outside, but the apartnt was warm and bright. She was wearing an apron, holding a steaming bowl of soup with such an alluring aroma.

Was it that day?

On their trip to Hokkaido, Japan, her childlike innocence seed so pure and adorable.
