Chapter 891: Chapter 676: Shatter Delusion_2
Perhaps everyone won’t gather here year after year, after all, everyone has their own lives.
But during so period of the year, or perhaps a few days.
Maybe the battles leave people weary, causing them to unconsciously choose to stay here.
Then they indulge in hearty drinking, enjoying a rare mont of peace.
Kaer Morhen is a fortress.
But it is not a prison.
Even if emotions serve as the binding ties.
Anna’s eyes lit up; it was clear that she truly found the idea tempting.
Traveling wouldn’t make one feel lonely, but aimless wandering would.
“Do you have any wine?”
Anna asked with a smile.
Roger waved his hand, “Anyti, anywhere.”
The two exchanged smiles, instantly finding the unspoken understanding from their past.
“Why have you co here?”
Anna, instead of ntioning her own troubles, asked with genuine concern.
“Now that’s a very long story.”
“Though you’ve only been gone a short while, I’ve been through quite a lot.”
“The night is still long; we’ve got all the ti to talk it over.”
Anna lightly leapt and sat atop the coffin behind her. She shifted slightly, motioning Roger closer.
In the deep of the night, a beauty seated on a coffin…
To be honest, at a different ti, Roger might have genuinely accepted Anna’s invitation.
In a coffin—perhaps things would be very different.
But right now, he truly wasn’t in the mood.
He let out a helpless, wry smile, “I’ve run into so trouble.”
Anna’s expression subtly changed, her deanor growing serious.
“Amanda, perhaps?”
After hearing Roger recount his recent events, Anna asked for a nearby map, scanning it for a mont. She soon pinpointed the issue.
“There are so discrepancies from the maps drawn by the nearby tribes.”
Anna marked a spot on the map.
“I think you should have noticed the peculiar nature of this rainforest. Its inner space isn’t as simple as it appears, with many hidden layers.”
“So current geographical knowledge alone can’t be used as a reference.”
A flicker of realization crossed Roger’s face.
Indeed, the information Panambi provided was reliable, but ultimately derived from the real world. What he sought, however, was a space hidden within the Transcendent World.
Roger realized his earlier assumptions had been too simplistic. Yet, based on Panambi’s pinpointed special area as a reference, they managed to outline a general region.
Fortunately, there were no critical errors here, leading only to an expansion in scope, rather than a wild goose chase in the wrong direction.
“Follow .”
“I’m fairly familiar with the area. Let’s try searching, and perhaps we’ll uncover so clues.”
As she spoke, a faint unease arose in Anna’s heart.
She thought of Salam’s sinful visage. “I wonder if we might encounter that bastard during the search?”
Her understanding of Roger’s strength remained at the level it had been when they last parted. Although the Magic Mirror had yet to recover, the two of them working together shouldn’t encounter any major issues.
Her thoughts churned. Anna wanted to warn him but didn’t know how to begin. By the ti she composed herself, Roger was already rising into the air. Anna hesitated for a mont, then pushed aside her emotions, swiftly following behind.
Black Bat Wings unfurled from Anna’s back as they both sped through the night, expanding their search area. During this, Roger made multiple attempts, all to no avail.
Before long, midnight arrived—the darkest hour of the day. Suspended midair while flapping her wings, Anna suddenly said, “Sothing’s not right. That area we just passed—it’s suspicious.”
Hearing this, Roger quickly refocused his attention. In the preceding hours, his anxious mood had undoubtedly caused lapses in concentration.
Having faced disappointnt many tis, a degree of fatigue was only natural.
But upon hearing Anna’s words, he imdiately sensed the spatial distortion.
A trace of intrigue flickered in his heart.
Roger raised his hand and struck forward.
The next mont, as if shattering a glass showcase etched with stunning landscapes, ti seed to freeze, followed by a complete spatial upheaval.
The lush greenery vanished. Pulled into the distortion, the two found themselves in an unfamiliar space. Beneath them, there were no thriving forests—just a barren land.
Before their eyes stood a solitary, desolate volcano.
The situation took an unexpected turn. A hint of excitent flickered across Roger’s face, and even Anna seed a little elated. Yet before they could say anything, a distorted voice sounded from the volcano’s base.
“Who…”
“So, it’s you… Anna.”
“Have you co to laugh at ?”
Roger squinted to see clearly. At the base of the volcano, an injured body slumped against a rock, speaking haltingly.
“This guy’s actually alive?” A flicker of doubt crossed his mind. Though his earlier strike had been casual, given the opponent’s level of power at the ti, survival seed nearly impossible.
But now…
“Salam?”
Anna was equally astonished.
Salam turned his murky eyes, his body ravaged by severe injuries. If not for borrowing power from a powerful entity after the incident, he’d likely have died long ago.
Even now, his condition was dire.
Limited by his own level, the power he could draw was minimal. Attempting a widespread recovery would drag him into another Abyss.
Becoming a puppet or plaything was a fate Salam was unwilling to face.
He had no idea how Anna had found him, but fearing retaliation, Salam had already resolved to avoid conflict at all costs.
As for dignity, it was no longer a concern.
But then, Salam’s gaze shifted, soon noticing soone standing beside Anna.
A series of images flashed through his mind.
He suddenly pieced everything together. “So that’s it!”
“My Deathly Gaze didn’t work on this woman. Yes, she has so special thod—it must have interfered with my breakout at the critical mont!”
Salam’s eyes burned with rage.
Back then, sensing Roger’s imnse strength, he had unhesitatingly drawn upon the power in his mind. But he’d foolishly placed too much trust in that mysterious entity’s strength.
And so, after failing, he made an irreversible mistake, leading to his near demise.
Now Salam felt as though he understood everything.
This venomous woman—it was all her! All because of her!
“Whore!”
His gaze at Roger brimd with fury, as if fire would shoot from his eyes.
Fury robbed him of reason. With no retreat, Salam no longer hesitated, detonating the ocular sigil in his mind.
For a brief mont, the power seed constrained, but after two breaths, an entry to a Different Space broke open deep within his mind.
A surge of energy poured relentlessly into his body.
His injuries healed rapidly, and his aura soared. Salam felt stronger than ever before.
The drastic changes in Salam’s body didn’t go unnoticed by Roger and Anna—the forr appeared indifferent, while the latter’s expression hardened.
Roger even wore a faint trace of curiosity, spotting the hazy mark erging on Salam’s forehead.
“You cruel woman—you sent that man to ambush !”
Salam laughed madly, a crazed expression on his face. Although his power still surged, there was no trace of joy within him.
His consciousness—the part that defined his being—was increasingly stripped away. This was the price of wielding power far beyond his limits.
He knew the consequences, which was why he had resisted for so long.
Black whirlwinds rose from his body. Behind Salam, the clouds descended to form a pair of dark, sky-encompassing wings.
“There’s no escape from my Deathly Gaze. Here, you are all bound beneath my wings.”
“Wings of Death!”
The power within him was almost uncontrollable. In this mont, Salam had only one thought—to obliterate the pair of loathso lovers before him.
He cackled wildly, raising his hands.
But in the next mont, his laughter froze completely.
The towering figure appeared before him, though Salam hadn’t noticed when. He recognized that damned face.
And then the broad hand pressed firmly on his head.
“Interesting—I missed this last ti.”
An irresistible force shattered all of Salam’s defenses in an instant.
Roger’s voice whispered in his ear, “Tell , where does your power co from?”
Through the gaps in Roger’s fingers, Salam barely made out that impassive face. “Get off , I’m… Ah…”
Roger slamd Salam from midair into the mountain’s slope. The enormous, dark wings instantly disintegrated, their power backfiring and all but killing Salam on the spot.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he desperately struggled, his mind full of absurdity.
What just happened?
Why is it always getting hurt?
At this mont, Roger also spotted the mark on Salam’s forehead clearly.
A spark ignited in his mind as a shriveled eyeball materialized out of thin air.
