Xi Nanfeng walked in front, followed closely by Ye Cheng in a black trench coat.

At the mont she saw Ye Cheng, Ji Wei’s brow twitched slightly.

Wasn’t Duoduo supposed to be at Ye Cheng’s place? Could it be he kicked her out again?

While she was lost in thought, Xi Nanfeng had already stepped into the dining room. Looking at the romantic French-style candelabras, fresh flowers, cake, and the lavish spread of food on the table, quickly cooling, he couldn’t help but turn his head and grin. "Old Mo, you’re sothing else. Were you really not planning to start until we showed up? What a brother—you’ve moved to tears!"

Gu Moqian cast him a blank glance and continued staring at the TV screen.

The television was on mute, with only the images flickering. The silence in the living room made the entire scene even more eerie.

Xi Nanfeng felt a chill under Gu Moqian’s gaze.

What’s with Old Mo? Is it really necessary to pull a long face on his birthday?

Xi Nanfeng suddenly had a delayed realization and glanced at Ji Wei.

Ji Wei was sitting next to Gu Moqian, seemingly quiet ever since they entered, not saying a word.

Strange. Too strange!

Normally, these two were relentless at showing off their love, never running out of ways to do so. But today, they were unusually calm—not even holding hands.

"Old Mo, did you two have a fight?" Xi Nanfeng suddenly had a flash of insight and blurted out.

Ji Wei wanted to respond, "He hasn’t even spoken to —how could we fight?"

"The food’s getting a bit cold... Why don’t you all sit for a bit? I’ll go ask Aunt Zhu to heat it up." Ji Wei forced a sowhat awkward smile, stood up, and walked toward the kitchen.

Ye Cheng sat down on the adjacent sofa, his expression calm and indifferent.

Xi Nanfeng stared blankly at Ji Wei’s retreating figure, then leaned in toward Gu Moqian, whispering, "Did you really have a fight? A little friction between couples is perfectly normal. Isn’t there that saying? ’Quarrel at the head of the bed, make up at the foot.’ After dinner, just pin her on the bed and take care of business. Guaranteed she’ll forgive you in no ti..."

Gu Moqian shot him a cold, piercing glare that sent a shiver down his spine.

"Did I say sothing wrong?" Xi Nanfeng scratched his head, thoroughly puzzled.

Gu Moqian’s face remained taut. He reached for the cigarette box on the table, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it.

He rarely smoked—only when he was in an exceptionally foul mood.

Seeing this, Xi Nanfeng didn’t know how to continue persuading him. He simply sat down obediently on the sofa, sighing. "I thought it would be a lively birthday party. Who’d have guessed it would be this gloomy? If I’d known, I would’ve dragged that troublemaker along to stir things up a bit."

Ye Cheng seed lost in thought as well. Leaning back against the chair, his eyes lowered slightly, he remained motionless.

But before long, his phone vibrated a few tis, signaling a new text ssage.

Ye Cheng pulled out his phone and saw it was from Xia Duoduo: "Big agent, is there sothing wrong with your showerhead? I’ve been twisting it for ages, and no water’s coming out."

Ye Cheng glanced at the ssage with a calm expression, then slid the phone back into his pocket without replying.

Only a few seconds passed before the phone started buzzing again.

Xia Duoduo: "Big agent, where’s the hot water kettle in your house? I want to boil so water to drink... Also, when are you coming back? I’m a little scared sleeping alone in a strange room."

Ye Cheng stared at the last few words, his brow furrowing slightly.

In the end, he didn’t reply to a single word.

This ti, he simply powered the phone off.

Xi Nanfeng didn’t miss any of his actions, and his ever-burning gossip instincts exploded. He declared excitedly, "Old Ye, you’ve got sothing going on, haven’t you?!"

Ye Cheng replied coolly, "What ’sothing’? Just a string of nuisance texts."

Who stares at ’nuisance texts’ for over five seconds?

Yeah, right!

Xi Nanfeng curled his lips in clear disbelief.
