Until she got out of the car, Ji Wei still hadn’t figured out how to coax Mo Qian.
When she walked into the living room, she found Milk was being "abused" by Mo Qian.
"Your mommy didn’t co ho on ti, so no dinner for you tonight."
Mo Qian looked down at the cat rubbing insistently against his pant leg, his face displaying the epito of cold-hearted cruelty.
ow ow~
Milk refused to give up—it was so hungry and desperate to eat!
The little creature pressed itself even harder against Mo Qian’s leg and then extended its pink tongue to lick the exposed bit of his ankle.
Wet, slippery, cool...
It reminded him of a certain woman who only loved her work but didn’t love him... and her... kiss.
Mo Qian froze, his entire body stiffening, his expression becoming as dark as a storm cloud.
Damn it, he’d just been harassed by a cat!
"Get off!"
Mo Qian’s patience had its limits. He suddenly barked out, his voice harsh, finally unleashing his tiger-like authority.
Milk was startled, letting out an aggrieved ow before shrinking back toward the edge of the sofa, looking pitifully wronged.
Ji Wei couldn’t bear to watch any longer. She strode through the door, scooped up Milk, and stroked its soft fur comfortingly. "Milk, be a good kitty. Mommy will go get you so food right now."
Saying this, she carried the cat into the kitchen, not sparing so much as a glance at Mo Qian.
The so-called big tiger, who had been completely ignored, looked like his face was about to turn as black as charcoal.
When Ji Wei passed through the dining room, she noticed the table was set with an exquisite dinner. Two French-style candlesticks held flickering candles, surrounded by fresh flowers and a cake.
Ji Wei halted, her steps coming to an abrupt stop.
The owing Milk in her arms was completely ignored.
A cake? Could it be soone’s birthday today?
Walking into the kitchen to prepare food for Milk, Ji Wei found Aunt Zhu still tending to a pot of slow-simring pork rib soup. Unable to suppress her curiosity, she asked the question weighing on her mind.
Aunt Zhu looked at her in surprise. "Madam, you don’t know? Today is Mr. Gu’s birthday."
Ji Wei stared at Aunt Zhu in disbelief. "Really? Why didn’t Mo Qian tell ?"
No wonder.
She hadn’t even rembered his birthday and had worked overti until the evening. Was it any surprise he was upset?
Handing Milk over to Aunt Zhu, Ji Wei returned to the living room on her own.
Mo Qian was sitting there with a cold expression, flipping through TV channels with the remote as though it had sohow offended him. Each button press was more forceful than the last.
Ji Wei knew he was fuming. Forgetting sothing as important as his birthday was truly inexcusable!
"Hubby~"
Ji Wei took the initiative to sit close to Mo Qian, wrapping her arms around his and addressing him sweetly.
Mo Qian stayed unmoved, his eyes glued to the TV screen. Even though it was playing comrcials, he watched them with a level of interest best reserved for blockbusters.
"I was wrong. I shouldn’t have co ho so late. And I can’t believe I forgot your birthday. Is there any birthday gift you want? Tell , I promise I’ll get it for you!"
She talked at him for a while, but Mo Qian remained impassive.
Ji Wei was so disheartened!
Unwilling to give up, she suddenly leaned in and kissed him on the lips.
The man’s thin lips were cold, lacking any warmth. No matter how much she tried to tease him, he neither reciprocated nor reacted at all.
Even Milk had managed to elicit a reaction from him earlier!
Was she even less important than a cat?
Ji Wei finally understood what an emotionless kiss felt like—it was as dull as gnawing on tree bark!
Even kissing didn’t work. Ji Wei’s confidence took a significant hit. She hesitated, uncertain whether she should continue gnawing on Mo Qian’s lips, when two tall n suddenly walked into the living room.
