Chapter 149: In Trouble
Night left after that and I stayed laying on the bed. ’I should at least take a bath before going to sleep again.’ I thought as I went to the bathroom and washed, but when I got out, Tomoe was already waiting on the chair in the middle of the room.

"What are you doing here?"
Tomoe stood up from the chair and looked at

"Why should I leave?"
Tomoe sighed as she sat back on the chair. "It’s because uncle Junichiro’s after you right now. He’s going to try and use you to get whatever he wants from the Yamaguchi-gumi. I can’t let him succeed." She sighed again. "There aren’t many people here to protect you. It’s too late, they all fell into that man’s trap."

"I do." She rolled her eyes. "Just go! Kaoru’s waiting outside."
I was confused, and everything was happening too suddenly. "What about Night? What will happen to him?"
I heard Tomoe click her tongue as she pushed
out of the room. "You should worry about yourself more. Yoru is strong enough to defend himself." She said.
That’s when we started hearing a commotion near the main gate and Tomoe imdiately grabbed my arm. "Kaoru! Leave with lady Noelle." She said as she pushed
towards Kaoru. "Protect her with all your life," Tomoe said causing my forehead to crease.
"Why are you helping ?"
Tomoe didn’t answer and made Kaoru and I go inside a hidden path that leads outside of the mansion. "We must escape from here, milady," Kaoru said. "I should hold your hand so that we wouldn’t get separated." He added and I nodded while following him.
"Kenji-san already contacted
and told us to et him sowhere near the Westside High school," Kaoru said while we were running in the streets, holding each other’s hands. We’re clearly attracting other people’s attention, but it’s a life-and-death situation, I think?
"I apologize for holding the lady’s hand like this." Kaoru’s being conscious, but he still wouldn’t let
go. He knows how much important this escape will be, and if we got separated, it’ll be the end of .
As soon as we reached the vicinity of the Westside High School, Kaoru and I sneaked into the old parking lot where Kenji always parks the car whenever he fetches us. "We just need to hide here while waiting for Kenji to arrive." Sweats ca out of Kaoru’s temples like an open faucet. It wouldn’t stop no matter how much he wipes them.
"Are you nervous?"
Kaoru looked at . "Of course, milady. You’re in grave danger and I must do everything to protect you." He said while catching his breath. "To be completely honest with the lady, I haven’t done a mission where I need to protect sobody else."
I tilted my head. "What do you an?"
"I’ve only been in gang wars. I hold a gun better than I hold a person’s hand." Kaoru said with his face flushed. "When I first received an order to protect the lady, I was delighted and excited. I was too cocky and thought that I can handle such simple orders."
I stared at Kaoru, waiting for the next thing he’ll say. "But I continuously failed. I made the lady face traumatizing events because of my shortcomings. I should have done it better." He said. "And now, the lady’s in danger again and there’s no one else but
that could protect the lady. I know I shouldn’t let the lady know that I am afraid but..."
Kaoru’s hands were trembling as he crouched beside
hiding behind the bushes. "It’s my responsibility to keep the lady safe, but I kept on failing, and now I’m afraid that—"
I squeezed both Kaoru’s cheeks to make him stop talking. "Stop being so negative. This isn’t like you." His eyes were wide open and he blinked lots of tis. Although Kaoru used to be always enthusiastic the first ti I t him, he slowly changed after I went through those kidnappings. It must have affected him too, and I didn’t notice it until now.
"You’re doing great." I smiled. "I’m here without much worry because you’re with ."
Kaoru pouted, and I can see how he was suppressing his tears. Whenever I see him like this, it reminds
that this guy is younger than , yet he already went through horrible things that I couldn’t even imagine. So mbers of the Yamaguchi-gumi are the sa age as , and so are even younger. Did they all go through such things as Night and Kaoru?
"Hey? Are you crying?"
Kaoru quickly shook his head while wiping his tears. "A-A man shouldn’t cry." He said making
laugh a little.
"No, a man can cry sotis. Everyone is allowed to cry."
Kaoru looked down and sniffed. "T-The lady is really kind. That’s why the young master loves you so much." He said as he smiled and stared back at . "I have to beco the lady’s shield while the young master isn’t around. There’s no ti for moping and being down." Seeing him beco all enthusiastic again made

That’s right, I have already gone through terrifying things, but now, I am not alone. Even Tomoe who hates

Ti has passed and we’ve been sitting in the sa spot for a while now. We could hear the bell ringing which concludes the dismissal for the students. I’m just glad that Andy and Ace don’t really go to this old parking lot since they use the bus.
"What’s taking Kenji-san so long?" Kaoru asked as he pulled his phone out from his pocket, but it was already low on battery. "Should I go and buy so food for the lady?" He must be thinking that I’m already getting hungry since we’d been here for too long and hadn’t had our lunch.
"What are you guys doing?"
Kaoru quickly pulled
behind him while I looked at the person that talked to us.
"Ryzen!?" I called his na, and Ryzen just tilted his head. "Didn’t I tell you to stop talking to ?" Kaoru was still not letting his guard down and keeps on hiding
behind him.
Ryzen then backed away. "I was just wondering why you skipped class today, and here I saw you." Ah! That’s right, I skipped class today because of back pain.
When I was about to retort, my stomach grumbled so loud causing Ryzen and Kaoru to stare at . ’What kind of timing is this!?’ I tried to gain composure but my stomach grumbled again as if it was really making
humiliate myself.
"If you’re hungry, I have so bread I brought in the cafeteria before," Ryzen said as he pulled a lon bread and a strawberry bread out of his bag. "You two should take these." Kaoru imdiately got it from Ryzen and gave it to .
"Ah, right I almost forgot."
I looked at Ryzen after he said that. "What is it?"
"There was this weird man I bumped into in the hallway before coming here." My forehead creased hearing that. "He was wearing an all-black suit, and I think I rember seeing him with Noelle before. He looks like he was searching for soone, so I thought maybe you two were hiding from him."
My eyes widened as I looked at Kaoru. ’It’s Kenji. There’s no doubt.’ I thought as I turned back to Ryzen. "Where did you last see him?"
Ryzen gave us directions, so Kaoru and I didn’t waste any more ti. Why would Kenji be running around the campus like that? That ans the calm and composed Kenji lost his composure, but why? It’s weird for Kenji to suddenly lose his composure like that. ’I need to see it for myself.’
"Wait, milady!" Kaoru stopped
from running into the next building towards the main entrance. When I looked at him, he was giving
a sign to keep quiet. "There are unfamiliar sounds of footsteps." He whispered making
baffled. ’Unfamiliar what?’
"Where did Kenji go?"
I gulped after hearing soone speak in Japanese, and all I could understand was Kenji’s na. ’Who are these people?’
