Chapter 150: Will Be Fine
I looked at Kaoru to see his expression, but I couldn’t understand what he was feeling at this mont at all. The unfamiliar people started talking in Japanese again and I couldn’t figure out anything. That’s when I felt Kaoru’s hand on my arm and he looked at my face with a huge smile.
"I know where to go." He said while giggling, and with that, we ran away far from those unfamiliar n.
"Did you understand what they were talking about?" I asked while we were running in the hallway.
"Of course, I am a Japanese man after all." He said proudly. "Those n, they are Junichiro’s n and they betrayed the Yamaguchi-gumi. They’re probably searching for Kenji-san thinking that the lady is with him. That might be the reason why he couldn’t co to the parking lot."
What? Then where are we going now?
"Do you know where to go?"
I heard Kaoru chuckling. "You’re aware of this place too, so don’t worry, milady." He said as if his worries flew away. What did he hear from those guys anyway? I should have improved my Japanese vocabulary, if I did, I would have understood them too.
Forget about being sneaky with our escape, Kaoru and I ran hand in hand toward the place he was talking about. The more we run, the more the scenery becos familiar to . Even without roaming my vision, I can already tell where this place is just from the buzzing sound on the street. It’s the way to our mansion, the mansion my father built for our family. That familiar sll of freshly baked donuts in the bakery nearby, I used to always buy a bag of donuts there and eat it with Andy and Ace.
’This feels nostalgic.’
Kaoru pulled
near the wall as soon as we arrived in front of the huge gate towards our mansion. "Why are we here?" I asked. If I rember correctly, the guard doesn’t allow just anyone to get inside.
"Hearing those traitors talk, I realized that sothing must have happened for Kenji-san to fail to et us," Kaoru said with a giddy voice. "The only place I could think of where we can stay safe and well is in this mansion. This mansion gets protection from the yakuza, and other people aren’t allowed here." He then pulled
towards the back gate.
"Let’s climb." He said. "I’ll help the lady."
It would have been easy climbing the walls if it wasn’t for my back pain. If it wasn’t for Kaoru’s sturdy body, I wouldn’t be able to climb to the other side. "That was hard," I muttered after landing on the grass and when I saw the familiar garden I used to always visit whenever I have ti, I beca stiff.
How long has it been since I last saw this place? I used to live here, but everything feels strange now.
"Milady? Are you alright?" Kaoru asked after seeing
just standing still. "We need to go inside, there might be enemies flocking around the place." He said, and so I followed him inside the mansion as he told
to.
I’m familiar with this place, this is where I was born, but as soon as I stepped into the door, it felt different.
It was empty, and the sll was foreign too. It’s like an abandoned house with no signs of people, or anything.
"You’re finally here." I turned my back and saw Kenji. His coat was covered with blood. "Didn’t you see my ssage?" He’s oddly irritated, and he removed his coat while sighing.
"Kaoru’s phone died," I said in Kaoru’s defense. "Where’s Night?"
Kenji sighed. "The young master isn’t here. But we’ll be eting him now, let’s get in the car." He said in a rush, and so we followed him to the car.
My forehead furrowed as I stood still in front of the said car. "What are you doing, milady?" Kaoru asked after they noticed that I’m not getting into the car.
"Are we really going to use this car?" I asked.
Kenji nodded. "This is the best way to not create any suspicions."
Huh?
Riding a vibrant pink car makes suspicions go away? Don’t get
wrong, I love the looks of this car. "Wouldn’t this catch more attention?" I asked as I got in the backseat and put my seatbelt on.
"Even if it does, those idiots wouldn’t know it. They thought that I wouldn’t use such an underhanded way, after all, those fools." It was the first ti I heard Kenji talking like that. "Betraying the group for that traitor, was a foolish move." He added as he started the car, and we moved away from the mansion quickly.
I tried to calm my nerves by looking out the window, but my stomach kept grumbling despite already getting to eat two pieces of bread. The other bread was supposed to be Kaoru’s, but because of my appetite, he gave it to
instead.
"Should we stop for food?" Kenji asked while looking in the rear-view mirror.
Even though I wanted to reject his offer, my stomach kept telling
to feed it. And so, Kaoru was forced to buy so burgers while Kenji and I waited inside the car. "Does the miss feel fine? Your body should be having a hard ti now." He said. ’Right, he must have known about what Night and I did yesterday.’
"I’m fine." I closed my eyes, trying to control my hunger. "Where are we going to et Night?"
"It’s a place far from here, but it’s safer there than here," Kenji said. He gave
such a vague answer, so I thought that it must be a place that no one else should know of.
"What about school? My competition’s getting near." My efforts will be all in vain if I don’t compete there.
"I apologize for this, milady, but I don’t think the lady should attend school for now." He said. I already know that. In this situation, there’s no way I could attend the school like usual. But what should I tell my friends? They’ll start worrying about
again. What about Miss Valencia? If she learns that I’m skipping the championship, then she’ll surely not let
graduate. My teammates are probably waiting for
too.
Why do I have to be in this situation?
All the overthinking made my stomach grumble causing
to lean on the backrest. Kaoru arrived just in ti before my stomach grumbles again. He brought us burgers and fries, even though I usually don’t eat fast food because Rika would always watch my diet for .
"Wait! What about Rika and the others? Tomoe was left alone in the mansion too." I asked. How could I forget about them? If Rika gets in trouble because of , I will never forgive myself.
"The lady should not worry about others. They can handle themselves well." Kenji said as he continued driving without even eating. Doesn’t he feel hungry?
I started eating and so did Kaoru. The car was filled with silence and peace, there aren’t anyone pursuing us which is weird. Is it really because of the vibrant pink color? That’s why they’re not suspicious of this car at all?
After eating my fill, I felt sleepy and so I just slept the whole car ride. I shouldn’t be carefree like this, but being with Kenji and Kaoru gives
peace of mind. ’With them, I know I wouldn’t be hard.’ There are still matters regarding school and my father, but I chose to not think of any of them. I’ll do it with Night, that way my judgnt wouldn’t be clouded.
My back hurts and my head hurts. I don’t want to get up.
When I woke up from my sleep, I was already in an unfamiliar room and an unfamiliar bed. ’This room reminds
of El’s room before. It’s empty.’ I thought. "Kenji?" I called for Kenji’s na while still trying to adjust my vision.
"The first na you call was Kenji’s, not your husband’s na?"
I noticed that Night was sitting beside the bed and staring at . "I didn’t know you were there." An instant smile appeared on my face which made
look down as I could still feel the pain in my back. ’I don’t want him to see
making a weird face.’
Night gently grabbed my hand and placed it on his cheek. ’He sure does love doing that.’ I thought.
"I panicked after hearing what happened in the mansion. I was afraid I wouldn’t make it in ti." He said with an expression I haven’t seen before. "I felt like I was about to lose my mind."
I pulled him in for a hug. "I’m fine. We’re fine." That’s what I want to believe, that everything will be fine despite not knowing what will happen soon. "Where are we anyway?" I asked after moving away from the hug. This room is clean despite having signs that it hasn’t been used for a while. I don’t even know where this place is.
’Are we really safe here?’
