Capítulo 2064: Chapter 964: Sches and Strategies of a World-Class City
“Brother Yan, you seem to be doing better here than at ho. Any tips to share?” As Yan Fei smiled and daydread, a young man nearby leaned in and quietly asked for advice. “You’ve been out and about for so long, surely you’ve picked up so good advice. Anything beneficial for our city’s developnt?”
This was the scene of the official eting between the two cities. Yan Fei was fairly low-key, quietly seated and determined not to voice any opinions. Even when Zavier, the old man, asked him a few questions, seeing Yan Fei’s reluctance to say more, he left him be.
To be honest, it wasn’t really Yan Fei’s business; he was simply there as an important connection and not being present would be inappropriate.
Even Xu Xiaoyan was catching up on sleep at the hotel and didn’t co along. It was just him there to make up the numbers.
Yan Fei imdiately recognized the voice as belonging to Leader Xu’s secretary, nad Shan. Even though he called him Brother Yan, Shan was actually a few years older. He was a university graduate who had spent several years working before getting the position as Leader Xu’s secretary.
Yan Fei, feeling bored, began quietly chatting with Secretary Shan. The questions Shan asked clearly weren’t his own, likely ones Leader Xu wanted him to ask.
Perhaps Leader Xu thought the schedule was tight and felt he wasn’t particularly close to Yan Fei, so sending a younger person to ask was a better idea.
Yan Fei quickly started offering tips after saying a few words, regardless of whether they were crooked or straightforward: “First, we need to boost our city’s reputation! We have so many rich tourism resources, not utilizing them is wasteful. People have money now, so let’s promote our tourism resources.”
“Brother Yan, can you elaborate? We’re really struggling, we’ve tried so many thods without much effect! How should we promote?” Secretary Shan brightened up as soon as Yan Fei was willing to talk, imdiately took out a small notebook to jot down notes. Anyway, they were in a corner, others were focused on the leadership from both places talking, so no one paid attention to them.
“Make news!” Yan Fei chuckled. “Take those prehistoric bugs I made a fuss about — didn’t putting them in the news lead people to Old Niu’s hotown just to check them out? In reality, there’s nothing much to see — just a small hill, a little lake, no scenery whatsoever.”
In a few decades, those lakes and hillsides might be worth a look, but currently, there are plenty of undeveloped tourist destinations that aren’t particularly noteworthy.
“Create so quirky, attention-grabbing news or promote our historical stories.” Yan Fei mused calmly, ensuring he didn’t mind making mistakes in what he said.
“We have plenty of historical material, right? We could start promoting from the era of the ape-n, revamp the old ape-man relics into tourist spots. Rember the Three Kingdoms period? We could promote all the renowned figures related to it. As long as they’ve stayed in our city, we can celebrate them…”
“Or develop so ancient-thed sites, like recreating a water-powered blower used by famous strategists during the Three Kingdoms. Building sothing to revive historical appearances doesn’t cost much; if you’ve got the manpower and the space, it can be done. Gather folk tales and spread them everywhere — anything that might attract attention…”
“Also, get celebrities involved, host events. Arrange those that don’t cost much but have significant impact… Or attempt to break so Guinness World Records, like having thousands of cows parade on the streets…”
These thods are, honestly, quite simple. Essentially, it’s about creating a buzz. Imdiate results aren’t likely, nor will the impact be instantly visible. However, with steady promotion, people will know about the city. Eventually, develop so tourist attractions and lure people in for visits to achieve goals.
The tips Yan Fei offered weren’t really crooked, after all. For instance, in Wan City’s neighboring city, they once promoted building statues of a famous couple from a swordsman novel. Years later, the city even changed its na with plans to invest a million to create the statues, grabbing attention online.
Despite receiving criticisms, curious bystanders stirred up excitent, achieving the ultimate goal. Many never heard about the small city before, but through simple hype, suddenly everyone knew its na.
Now that’s a quirky strategy, but essentially it’s all about building fa so that people will be attracted to visit or seize the chance to develop sothing — a crying child gets milk, but only crying won’t do the trick. There must be sothing done to show everyone you’re not just idling around. Even if it’s not very reliable, how bad is a verbal critique? As long as the city develops, criticism is just for show.
“Or create a reputation for so specialties, like our pasture-raised beef… Haha!” Yan Fei started self-promoting midway through his advice. “It doesn’t have to be mine, but having a famous label like ‘Ho of XX’ or ‘Origin of XX’ has its benefits!”
The most well-known example being the Lanzhou noodles and Shaxian stead dumplings. Even though those noodles belong to the provincial capital, how many really have visited? Yet people know of the place. With tourism developnt, so long as the place is well-publicized, urging visitors to travel and talk about it easier!
In essence, it resembles the online celebrity trend — first, create a buzz, then cos profit. Certainly for the historic city of Wan City, it’s spot-on to push for historical and cultural site promotions, along with natural attractions boasting several As, attracting tourists is bound to succeed.
