At first, the officers were visibly annoyed with him—it was hard to stay calm when dealing with soone ‘flirting with death’. But over ti, seeing his sincere attitude, their anger gradually cooled.

“I’ll take the fine!” Honestly, based on the tone of the call just now, he probably could’ve pushed back and gotten away without taking it. With the ng family’s connections, they were rock solid—if he’d insisted on skipping the fine altogether, the officers wouldn’t have been able to press him too hard.
But he knew he was in the wrong. Boss Yan had always been fair, and he wasn’t strapped for cash. Paying the fine? No big deal!

Still, this lesson hadn’t been for nothing. At least it was a good wake-up call. What wasn’t common yet in the Provincial City was already all over the Capital. And as for Arica, that place seed to have inexplicably struck it lucky, being slightly ahead in technology. Those devices were bound to be everywhere, so he’d have to stay vigilant!
