Chapter 1654: Chapter 786: Avoiding the First One, Still Facing the 15th-2nd
Of course, Boss Yan wasn’t so compassionate savior of humanity. He wasn’t trying to rescue anyone. The truth was, he had a bigger reason for doing this: to kill the chicken and scare the monkey!
Young Master Fang’s identity was particularly perfect for playing the monkey. His family had a bit of pull, but he himself wasn’t soone working within the system. The company he ssed around with was well-known too. Cleaning him up would be absolutely fitting—not to ntion, this was the perfect opportunity to warn so people: don’t think that having a bit of money and influence ans you can do whatever you want. In front of Boss Yan, that doesn’t cut it.
Driving along, hearing the howling wind beyond the windows of the car, Yan Fei was feeling quite carefree.
Though that feeling of ease lasted only until he exited the highway.
By now, the sky was already light. He was holding his phone, telling Assistant ng’s nephew, ng Si’an, that he had arrived in the Capital and had brought so good liquor for his uncle and grandfather.
Social niceties were inevitable. Ever since ng Si’an left last ti, he hadn’t shown up to help move liquor afterward, but he had kept in touch with Yan Fei. This was probably why Elder ng and Assistant ng had sent a younger relative—it’s simpler for young people to build connections. Calling each other casually, chatting about random things, over ti it naturally becos a deeper friendship.
He was on the phone while simultaneously pulling out money to pay the toll.
But as soon as he paid the toll and ca out, so uniford n stopped him: “Comrade, step out of the car. Inspection.”
Their tone wasn’t great, and Yan Fei was a bit taken aback.
His driver’s license and vehicle registration were in order, but a grim-faced officer spoke up: “Comrade Yan Fei, according to footage from the road surveillance…”
Oh shit. He’d forgotten about this.
Damn that bastard with the surna Fang!
At this mont, Yan Fei was deeply regretting everything.
That afternoon, he flew around the Provincial City, and when he had seen Fang Fan at ho, he started preparing for so action that night. He wanted Fang Fan to understand—if you ss up, you might dodge it for a while, but you can’t escape forever.
Originally, he had thought Fang Fan would hide out for a longer stretch; when he flew over to check, he hadn’t held high hopes. Surprisingly, Fang Fan had returned so quickly—Yan Fei actually felt a bit “delighted.”
Add in those bittersweet feelings from parting with his wife, and overall, on this trip, he had simply been speeding wherever he pleased, completely forgetting about road surveillance footage altogether.
It’s honestly hard to bla the officers for their stone-cold attitudes. Based on that surveillance footage, this young man in the rcedes-Benz wasn’t rely speeding; he’d practically been flying!
If this rcedes had wings attached, his speed would make people think the car might genuinely take off into the air.
In fact, the speed wasn’t astronomical. This million-dollar rcedes had a maximum speed of around 250 kiloters per hour. But considering that Boss Yan had purchased an original model, weighing two tons, then a car like this hurtling down the highway at top speed—it was no longer just a car; it was akin to the otherworldly enforcers of death from the King of Hell’s palace.
At this point, we’re no longer talking about brushing past soone and injuring them, or colliding and killing them. Now it was brushing past and killing, colliding and leaving them completely obliterated…
So now, tell , with these circumstances, could the officers possibly give him good treatnt?
Forget the officers enforcing the law—even in this brief mont, cars that Yan Fei had overtaken earlier were now passing by. Their drivers, upon seeing him pulled over on the roadside, all had expressions dripping with schadenfreude and “karma is inevitable,” wishing the officers would rcilessly punish him.
It’s just too infuriating—so you’ve got a fancy car, but does that an you can drive recklessly? Even if you don’t care about your own life, at least go race on so deserted desert or prairie—we’ve got lives to live, okay?
Boss Yan also sensed trouble brewing. The most pressing issue now was that the officers had only inspected his registration and driver’s license—they hadn’t checked his ID yet. If they were to check that, there’d be more problems—like the discrepancy in ages between the two docunts.
The wealth-driving pioneer of Sancha River Township, the entrepreneur whom thousands of families were grateful to, the richest man in Tanghe County, the cattle-breeding mogul of Wan City, the owner of Yuzhou Province’s largest cattle-breeding base—he, the dignified Boss Yan… wasn’t old enough to even qualify for a driver’s license.
Just as this thought crossed his mind, one of the officers said, “Your situation is rather serious. You’ll have to co with us for further handling. The vehicle will need to be impounded…”
Yan Fei panicked imdiately. Every extra second he lingered here was another second closer to the big issue being exposed. He couldn’t possibly transform his car into a dinosaur ride and take off into so alternate dinsion now, could he?
Enough—ti to make a phone call and get help!
Before dialing, though, he chose to butter them up first: “Comrades, you can see that I’m just soone from a small place. I don’t usually get many chances to drive on the highway, and rushing onto it all of a sudden got a bit carried away. My apologies. I’ll pay whatever fines are due, and take whatever penalties you give —I truly accept it all. But I honestly have an urgent matter, sothing I absolutely can’t delay. Could I make a phone call?”
Though the officers clearly looked down on him, they still allowed his request to make a call.
After all, soone of his age driving a luxury car worth millions might very well have this or that kind of background. Law enforcent must remain strict, of course, but aren’t we supposed to consider special circumstances too?
What if once he made the call, those “special circumstances” actually materialized? In that case, they couldn’t just drag the man and his car off as if nothing happened.
This was also where Boss Yan’s adaptability paid off. Capital’s officers had seen plenty of arrogant types who wouldn’t lower themselves after speeding recklessly. Though this particular guy’s plates were from out of town, his attitude was at least passable.
As for who Yan Fei could call? He had no choice but to dial ng Si’an again. Under these conditions, reaching out to Yang Xing simply wouldn’t make sense. While Yang Xing could prove that Yan Fei was about to travel overseas to attend an academic conference, that wouldn’t exactly justify his speeding, would it?
