We left the vault after my friends looted their guns and I teleported us back to the ship. From there we waited for Ladon to show up. While we waited I gave Brick the traits I had taken from the vault monster. Of them [Impact padding] was the only one needing to be explained. What it did was create a special padded tissue that not only absorbed kinetic energy but also reverberated it back outwards at double it's original power. This ant that each of Bricks punches now hit for twice the power as his knuckles gained this special tissue.-

Add on his now fully supre body and that amount of force was no small thing. As a kind of side effect he was also over eight feet tall and monstrously ripped. He was easily the most terrifying person most people would even et based on sheer presence alone at this point. He fucking LOVED it. He wasn't bullet proof by any ans but he was heavily resistant to most calibers and could dismantle pretty much anything with his bare hands. He still had his Punchline of course but even without it he was just as dangerous as any gun, more so even as he could change trajectories mid swing.-

His score in my sim room rocketed upwards as he chose to use direct practice for getting used to his new body. He held the longest record at the mont but that was mostly because I hadn't made an attempt yet at my current level. I was totally right about his transformation being very ssy though as my bathroom was painted red during the process and chunks of flesh and bone piled up where his body had been.-

Initiating the cleaning protocols fixed it though so it wasn't a big deal. While waiting for Ladon I had also started crafting the engram database for when I decided to make my A.Is. It wasn't particularly hard to make an engram of soone with my knowledge as you just needed a neurological scanner connected to a digitization archive. After that it was rely a matter of scanning people to create the engrams. So people even used the technology as a sort of paradise on earth type deal by combining it with virtual reality tech. It wasn't a terrible idea honestly but flawed to say the least as if power was cut to the tech housing you that was ga over for you, death in an instant.-

For other people they thought they could use engram tech to live forever by simply putting their engram in a new body after they died. This failed every ti because none of them had the know how to do it correctly. More often than not they tried to just have their engram shoved into soone's head and ended up with a destroyed brain and engram for the trouble. I myself already knew the correct way it should be done but wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.-

See the correct way was to slowly modify the host neurological structure over ti into matching the engrams recorded form. Ideally in a cloned body of the original owner of the engram to prevent body dysmorphia. The problem even in this case is that the brain can only hold so much information before things start to need replacing to make room for others. The longer you survive using this thod the more you will forget as the engrams are transferred over to the new bodies until the question becos whether or not you are still even the sa person anymore.-

Frankly speaking it's a nasty fucking way to exist. Using engrams alone as A.Is is also not a great idea as they are for all intents and purposes people and thus not exactly going to be happy to serve. I didn't even bother making an engram of myself specifically for this reason. Freedom was too tightly wound into every part of my mind to be worth the trouble of getting any other aspects. I made a copy of my friends though with Roland's in particular going to be the base for my first new A.I.-

Naturally I was going to strip the copy of the engrams mories away along with the bits I didn't want. I would add knowledge of combat and anatomy. Create strong loyalty protocols along with a dash of sass and Viola, soldier assistant A.I. Auto soldier for dummies, built right into the smart guns and visors for all my future new recruits till they don't need it anymore. -

"You might want to give it a female voice, hearing a guy constantly in your ear like that will cause problems down the line." Roland said seriously once I showed him the thing.

"I'm surprised you aren't offended by it." I said honestly.

"Why would I be? It's not anymore and it's a good idea to boot. I can't even tell you the amount of recruits in my group that got discharged because they couldn't tell the barrel of a gun from it's butt and hurt themselves or soone else as a result. This might not totally fix that problem but it's a damn good start." he said seriously.

"If you want to set up a scout/sniper division my engram would be pretty good for that too." Mordy chid in and I had to agree.

Thanks to that suggestion I took his engram and gave it a similar treatnt but put knowledge of tracking, sniping and stealth into the new A.I. I ended up naming the first A.I Athena and the second Artemis. I updated Roland's armor to include Athena to try it out and he found a few spots it needed refinent but since it was an A.I capable of learning those spots smoothed over as he put it through it's paces. I then copied that final version of the A.I to set as my base A.I for the future mass production of armors.-

Beyond that I didn't do anything else as I waited for Ladon to show up. While most people would consider the vault an almost complete loss in terms of traits and lifeforce I thought it perfectly acceptable. While hoarding everything to myself is nice and fine I do actually want to have my friends be above all the normal people in the universe.
